Yes, F31.
I just found out there are similar problems in F30 Workstation too. I'll
try to gather more information.

Lailah.

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-26 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello all,

Alessio, the user I mentioned didn't touch SELinux to fix this issue.
That's why I said I don't think it's related. I'm not saying they are the
same bug, only saying there was a similar issue and it didn't seem to be
related to SELinux. And in that issues, the options were greyed out. So
yes, *I am *talking about another issues.
About the automatic time zone, disabling that didn't make the list
available for change.
The problem is that it wasn't my computer and I'm still searching who had
this problem to ask for more details.

All for now,
Lailah

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-24 Thread alciregi
Hello.
Testing Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-31-20190824.n.0.iso

Issues described in the first mail are now solved.
Installed successfully, initial setup works now. Timezone stuff works
in GNOME settings as well from command line. Clicking on Activities (or
using Super keystroke), the focus goes to the search bar correctly.

Only two observations:
- once completed the initial setup, in the "ready to go" screen there
is not the big check mark at the center of the screen (or am I
remembering it wrong?)
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/startusingfedora.png
- there is some problem with NTP: in GNOME settings Automatic Date &
Time isn't available
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/ntp.png, and in
addition, issuing "sudo timedatectl set-ntp true" returns "Failed to
set ntp: No NTP unit available"
Looking at system logs, I can see that it is something related to
SELinux:

It's easy enough to check - just boot with 'enforcing=0'.

Silvia, Adam is right. I didn't test newest F31 composes since the report.
But by disabling selinux, these issues had gone.

What I saw related to timezone is in this screenshot:
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/timezone.png
So the option to select the time zone was not grayed out, but the
subsequent list was empty. (This was with selinux enabled).

I think you are talking about another issue.
BTW timezone option is correctly grayed out if you turn automatic timezone
on.

You sent the same link twice.
I'm not sure is that about SELinux. They didn't see any SELinux alert, but
the option, tab or whatever it is called in Gnome for changing timezones
was greyed out. Even after unlocking it, it was impossible to choose
because it remained greyed/disabled.

Hi all,

I saw someone in the Fedora group in Telegram with similar problems. One
was that he or she (I can't remember) couldn't setup timezones unless doing
some sort of weird of workaround. And when travelling had to do the same
every time the timezone changed. The other was that the initial setup
didn't start and they had no admin password.

Testing Workstation

2019-08-12 Thread Alessio
Some observations.

Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20190811.n.1.iso

Installed successfully, but initial setup doesn't start.
Initial setup start only adding enforcing=0 to grub.

Since in the latest composes there is no Workstation netinstall iso,
using Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-Rawhide-20190802.n.1.iso these
are the observations:

Installation works.

Problems with Date & Time settings:
- the Time Zone is not the one selected during setup.
- in settings, the Time Zone list is empty, so I can't change it.
- turning on Automatic Date & Time and Automatic Time Zone switches
lead to Settings panel to hang for some time, then they are not
preserved
- sudo timedatectl, lead to this error "Failed to query server:
Connection timed out"

Problem with GNOME Activities overview:
- clicking on Activities (or using Super keystroke), it is like that
"Type to search..." has no focus, so, in order to search for an
application, you have to click on the search bar
