Has NM added support for bridges? That's the reason I have disabled it
since I rely heavily on virtual machines both on my desktop and my servers.

Slowly but surely, NM is finally starting to play nicely with bridges.

because networkmanager service failed to connect to the network at that
moment. today, after many updates, on one pc, networkmanager works fine, on
another, the service fails to start (i see some dbus error in 'messages').
i'll try updating that system again asap. only this will not happen sooner
than two weeks since i'm in holiday this time, and those systems are at
office.

2010-09-02 Thread cornel panceac
2010/9/2 cornel panceac cpanc...@gmail.com

 2010/9/2 cornel panceac cpanc...@gmail.com

something strange happens on one of my test pcs running f14 (updated).
firefox always starts in offline mode. i uncheck work offline and
eevrythings fine until i close and start again firefox, when it's in offline
mode again. what could be the problem? NetworkManager is stopped because
 it's not working.

more: if i remove .mozilla , it starts online, first time. second time etc
it goes offline again. if i go into about:config, there's no browser.offline
key. after i uncheck first time the work offline in file menu, then a
browser.offline key is created which is *false* when work offline is
*unchecked*, and browser is online. something looks messed in firefox, but i
 have no idea what :)

 please help!

 as i've learned here:

http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1comments_threshold=0comments_parentId=11503comments_offset=20comments_per_page=20thread_style=commentStyle_plain

from *about:config* set *toolkit.networkmanager.disable* to be true.

now it starts online.

it remains a mistery why this is the first pc where i see this behaviour
even if i installed fedora 14 on other computers and everywhere i had to
enable network and disable NetworkManager to connect to the network and
firefox worked ok.

If NetworkManager stops your network stops, period. Firefox, Evolution
and Empathy for sure depend on it and eventually everything will. You
can frob an undocumented option on Firefox's about:config screen but no
known fix exists for the others.

Solution: Troubleshoot your NetworkManager problem. It isn't optional
anymore. Whether that is wise is a question best left to the
philosophers.

of course, to troubleshoot nm, it's best to update the system first ...
