[Texascavers] Not Exactly Cave Related, But Mexico and Geology Related...
About the distance between Uvalde and Del Rio, west of Del Rio - there's a concentration of what appear to be volcanic craters. I was doing a 'satellite geology field trip' of the Del Rio area and noticed what looks very much like craters and possible calderas. I hoped that perhaps someone familiar with this part of northern Mexico might know a little about this area. Is this an igneous region or it possibly a mix of limestone and extinct volcanoes? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=qhl=engeocode=q=sll=29.609282,-102.531967sspn=0.269835,0.4422ie=UTF8ll=29.382175,-102.513428spn=0.27044,0.4422t=hz=11 Thanks, WaV
[Texascavers] Bustamante video
A Hollywood production it was not. Wasn't meant to be. But it was pretty damned impressive for what it was. I could find technical faults with the video if that were what I was watching it for but I wasn't; I was looking to see how the commercial lighting and other development worked out and I was pleased with what I saw. I didn't know a person could take that many different shots in the entrance room alone and I've been there well over 40--maybe 50--times. There's a lot of stuff to see. Thanks to yall producers there, Nico. --Ediger At 04:10 PM 12/24/2008, Nico Escamilla wrote: Here's a http://nsscavers.ning.com/video/1981829:Video:28444link to yours truly and a friend's first try at shooting cave video it was in Bustamante, we had access while the cave was closed to get footage for the ICS promo, the tunnel as y'all saw it on both the youtube video (which was shot by my aunt's brother btw) and my video was still not finished. But you don't have to look at that part. --Ediger - Visit our website: http://texascavers.com To unsubscribe, e-mail: texascavers-unsubscr...@texascavers.com For additional commands, e-mail: texascavers-h...@texascavers.com
[Texascavers] MARK YOUR CALENDARS! - TSA and TCMA Winter Meetings at CBSP, Sunday, January 11th
All, Before everyone heads out for Christmas and other Holiday events and before most of us damage a few million brain cells on New Years' Eve, I just wanted y'all to mark your calendars while you're still conscious and in an upright position: TSA and TCMA Winter Business Meetings Will Be at Colorado Bend SP Conference Center, Sunday, January 11th! Here's your chance to meet the new TSA officers and hobnob with TCMA officers and fellow cavers! Come on down the second weekend of January for the always excellent CBSP Caving Project on Saturday and stick around for the meetings Sunday, at 9 for the TSA, 10-ish for the TCMA. Good times will occur, plenty of opportunities for caving, and great accommodations are available at the Conference Center, or you may rough it at the Cavers Camp. If you have any issues you'd liked discussed, TSA wise, please email them to me for inclusion in the meeting agenda. All of us in the TSA would like to see a HUGE response to this weekend, especially from all of the new and younger caver crowd I've had the pleasure working with this past year. Hope to see you and come lend us your thoughts and ideas to the direction of caving in Texas in 2009 and beyond! Thanks and may your holidays be safe and 2009 be the best year ever for you, your family, and the caving community here in Texas! Mark Alman Editor - The TEXAS CAVER TSA Secretary - 2008 TSA Chairman - 2009
[Texascavers] Want to go to Brinco?
We could use a couple of riders to Brinco. Leaving Friday and will return a day or two after New Years. This is primarily a work trip for me but there will be ample time for caving. I'm buying the fuel this time. Respond here or call me at: 410-303-1177 to discuss details. --Ediger - Visit our website: http://texascavers.com To unsubscribe, e-mail: texascavers-unsubscr...@texascavers.com For additional commands, e-mail: texascavers-h...@texascavers.com

Someone needs to bring in one or more of those 1200 watt electronic strobes, take a lot of pictures one section or wall at a time then add some creativity and do some stitching and splicing and crank out some world class 2 ft x 3 ft prints for a world class cave.
