[Texascavers] Caver music

2018-01-05 Thread David via Texascavers
For those of you that missed the incredible caver band GFB perform NYE, the
video below is a comparison of how awesome it was:

Imagine that sound, but in a basement like garage with 20 people, mostly
semi-old cavers and a few old-timers, and going till 1 in the morning.

[Texascavers] LED light - long term review

2018-01-05 Thread David via Texascavers
I think I mentioned about 2 years ago that I had purchased the light in the
link below.

It is still going strong and really comes in handy. I highly recommend it.

Yesterday, I dropped it 6 feet vertically on to concrete and it survived.

I suspect adding a little duct-tape would improve its durability.

I will be donating this light at the next function that I attend that has a
consignment sale or door prize award.

P.S.

I would like to thank all the cavers that cheered me up over the past 3
weeks. I was bummed out about both my Sierra Madre trips being cancelled
after purchasing Mexican vehicle insurance and the effort to get a Mexican
vehicle permit, and that my daughter spent most of the holidays without me
and NYE in Mexico. But I will get over it.

Work is starting to trickle in, in spurts. I moved out again today, and
my Sequoia is stuffed full of all the things I normally need. Hopefully, I
can find a cheap clean weekly motel.

Tomorrow, marks the year anniversary since I felt the need to perform full
CPR on my 12 year old daughter. I guess it is just one of those memories a
person has to store in a repressed memory bank, and not to dwell on it. I
thought that she was healthy before the incident, but for the past 12
months, she has been super obsessed with being lazy, in such an extreme way
that it concerns me. I certainly could not take her caving, and probably
not on any easy steep hike, like to the top of Enchanted Rock, or even to
Enchanted Rock Cave. But she is finally starting to like to eat some
healthy foods.

I got her a nice $ 65 toy for Christmas, and she looked at me with that
teenager WTF look, "Really Daddy, a doll??"
