Re: [Texascavers] [SWR CAVERS] How to photograph a cave

2017-02-23 Thread Julia Germany via Texascavers
Hi Dave!

Thank you for your reply. I figured you might have had interactions with NGS
over the years.

I understand about not making the comparisons. As I mentioned in my post, I am
very prejudiced - I love your work, and feel privileged that I get to see so
much of it. You are very kind to share it with the caving community.

Thanks Julia though I would not be inclined to make such a comparison of
my own work with other major photographers. I definitely think Robbie is
one of the Top Guns these days, doing some great work.

I've had frustratingly close encounters with NGS, and have been on 4
expedtions they helped sponsor. My stuff has appeared on the website, and
twice almost in the main mag, and once actually in the mag was a shot I
set up in Lake of the Blue Giants by placing underwater lights, but the
photographer floating on top got the only credit. I've had stuff in NGS
Adventure, and was about the have a big spread from our Xe Bang Fair river
cave in Laos at last, when they folded the whole magazine a month before!
The only sure way to get in is if they hire you to do a shoot.

 have a major article/foto spread??

:)
