Thanks Bill, that is probably it.Except I do not know how far the
capsule landed
from the official landing pad, nor in what direction. Surely not more
than 20 miles,
as it goes almost straight up and straight down until the final parachute
on the capsule
opens.

There is an interesting geological feature ( similar to a sinkhole ) just
north of the official landing pad
at these coordinates

31.473731, -104.794393

[Texascavers] Caves near Van Horn ?

2018-04-29 Thread David
In this morning's landing video of the Blue Origin capsule, there is a
large rock shelter in the video
to the left of the capsule in the face of the cliff about 30 seconds before
it lands.

Is that a cave ?

Does the feature have a name ?

Surely it is mentioned in the Caves of Culberson County.Right ??

Approximate coordinates of rock shelter ( within 20 miles )

   31.425144, -104.892122

That was such an awesome launch. Had I known about the launch a week
ago, I would
have made a bigger effort to go to Carlsbad, and then swing by the launch
to view it.

I am definitely going to add that to my bucket list for 2019.

It was a bummer not being able to go to Carlsbad. I had a ride offer
part of the way.
But I just had to stay closer to home this weekend. I should finally
have some work
next week, and eventually some pocket change.
