The annual Banff Film Festival is at the Paramount Theater in Austin this Sat
12th 8:00 PM and Sun 13th 6:00 PM.
Tickets about $23 each night, available online or at Whole Earth Provision Co.
General seating and it sold out last year so best to get them now and be there
when the doors open 1.5 hours early.
The "best of the best" outdoor adventure short films from around the world.
As many as 50 current and old-timer cavers attend every year; that's a pretty
good recommendation.

Hello Texas Cavers!
This month, the Greater Houston Grotto meeting is meeting a week early
because of the Banff Film Festival. (We typically meet on the 3rd Tuesday
of every month, but that night Banff is coming to Houston so we're meeting
today instead.)
So, TONIGHT:
6pm for dinner at Casa de Leon, 9217 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055.
7:30pm meeting at Texas Rock Gym. 1526 Campbell Rd, Houston, TX 77055.
Tonight, we will watch a short preview of the NSS convention this summer,
Peter Drushke will give a presentation about a caving trip he took to
Arizona earlier this year, and Ray Hertel will share some pictures of our
last beginner's trip to Whirlpool.
Everyone is invited! Please attend if you're in the Houston area!

Hello!
So this will be my first greater houston grotto meeting and I cant wait to
meet everyone. I come from Tennessee and am a TAG caver, but I moved to TX
a year ago. Been living in Houston for 6 months now and I have been
promising to myself since the beginning of the year that I would meet TX
cavers. So I cant wait to meet all of you tonight!!!!

Hello Cavers!
This is the FINAL call for speakers for the 2014 TSA Spring Convention! We
have some awesome talks already lined up (Goodenough Springs! cave videos!
exploration and archaeology, oh my!) but every year it seems like there's a
last minute request that I'm not able to fit into the schedule, so speak
now or forever hold your peace. I'm still finalizing the schedule so it's
not too late to volunteer!
As many of you know, every year at the convention we have informational
talks where cavers and scientist-types volunteer to speak on a number of
cave related topics. In the past, we've had presentations on topics such
as: archaeology, cave biology, diving, geology, hydrology, cave critters,
survey trips and exploration, cave photography, restoration, safety,
history, and caving techniques. However, don't feel limited...anything
somewhat caving-related is fair game.
The spring convention will be held on May 2-4 at Cave without a Name in
Boerne, TX. Presentations will be held during the day on Saturday with a
break for lunch. Presentations are typically 15-20 minutes in length plus a
little time for audience questions, but there is plenty of flexibility in
the schedule if you would like to give a shorter or longer presentation. We
will have a laptop, projector and speakers so if you have video footage or
photos you'd like to show, along with your presentation, please do!
Camping is awesome there informational sessions will be held INSIDE the
cave. Based on last year, this will be another AWESOME TSA convention! Make
plans to attend and contact me if you have any questions or would like to
be a presenter!

Vendors, note that the Spring Convention is fast approaching! Start thinking
about what to pack. The vending area will be in the same convenient location
near the pavilion in the Cave Without a Name campground as last year.
