ISLAMISTS IN PAKISTAN LAUNCH ONLINE DONATION CAMPAIGN FOR AAM AADMI PARTY?

November 17th, 2013, New Delhi:

Who are good Hindus in the eyes of Pakistan or Islamists? A Hindu who
has good human qualities, a Hindu who is run by his Hindu religious
values or something like that? Certainly not, a good Hindu is a man
who turns a blind eye to his Islamic oppressors or who assists the
Islamic invaders ruin his religion and culture is a Good Hindu for
them, a Hindu who betrays Hinduism is a good Hindu for them. The crazy
fanatic Zaid Hamid who always bashes Hinduism, praises the ‘Hindus’
like Amaresh Misra (Islamic-activist, anti-Hindu propagandist author
and Congress leader). And when such a Good Hindu is found, Pakistan
turns very helpful to him. Since this morning Pakistan based Facebook
pages promoting Jihadist Separatism in Kashmir and some other
Pakistani nationalist pages are running a huge campaign for donation
on behalf of Aam Aadmi Party founded by such a Good Hindu, Arvind
Kejriwal, self-acclaimed authority to issue the certificates of
honesty.

Arvind Kejriwal who started his journey as a crusader against
corruption in India, as an apolitical entity, and first declared that
all political parties are corrupt and that’s why they are apolitical,
entered into politics by cashing the huge fan followers they gained in
the name of anti-corruption movement. Kejriwal actually sabotaged the
movements that were already in line by BJP and Baba Ramdev. Kejriwal
then started doing the same conventional politics that he criticized
and didn't criticize the Kashmiri separatists from running from Pakistan
running online
donation campaign for AAP.

Kejriwal isn’t a visionless man, but he has far-fetched vision that
enables him get the proper sense of what and when. Kejriwal knew his
ways to earn the funding from outside India. A man who had allegations
on him of funding from foreign agencies and corporate had found the
other way to get the unclean funds cleanly. AAP constantly boasts
getting funds from NRI’s clean money through its website’s donation
section. Once AAP boasted that it has received an envious sum of INR 5
Million from an NRI based in East Asia. You don’t have to be surprised
how a man who had lesser contact with India is more concerned about
the corruptions in India than the Indians themselves. You can also
never prove whether the foreign agencies are channelizing the funds
through the NRI’s based in those agencies, such NRI’s who rather than
fighting the governments in their nation for their own treatment by
that government (when NRI’s are badly treated in many nations) are
funding a lifetime earning to a hypocrite apolitical-turning-political
organization in India.

WELL PUT MR PUTIN!!!

On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed
the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with
minorities in Russia:
In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in
Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the
Russian laws.
If they prefer Shari ‘a Law, then we advise them to go to those places
where that's the state law.
Russia does not need minorities.
Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or
try to change our laws to
fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'.
We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France,
if we are to survive as a nation.
The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture
or the primitive ways of most minorities. When this honourable legislative body
thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the national interest
first, observing that the minorities are not Russians.”

The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a standing ovation for five minutes!

Ten Remarkable Lemon Benefits

Ten Remarkable Lemon Benefits

   1. One lemon provides you with 64% of your recommended daily allowance of
   Vitamin C.
   2. A little lemon juice sprinkled on freshly cut apples, bananas, or
avocados will keep them from turning brown.
   3. Lemon juice is so acidic it actually kills germs.
   4. Lemon’s strong aroma is a natural deodorizer, particularly when used
as a cleaner. Toss some used lemons in the garbage disposal periodically to
freshen it. Gently heat some sliced lemons in a pot on the stove to get rid
   of cooking odors.
   5. Lemon juice mixed with baking soda can remove stains from plastic food
storage containers. Make the pumice and use it as a scrub.
   6. Lemon juice and green tea combine forces to make a strong antioxidant
mix, more powerful than if you consumed these two ingredients separately.
   7. Traditional medicines around the world have always recommended lemon
juice and hot water as an aid for digestion, heart burn, and a cure for
   constipation.
   8. Have water with lots of lemon juice during the day to help lose weight
   and decrease the appetite.
   9. Many traditional sources recommend rinsing the hair with lemon for
shine, but a lemon-juice rinse also fights dandruff.
   10. Lemon juice mixed with salt (one part lemon juice to two parts salt)
makes a great pumice to remove rust stains.

Anti-corruption crusade: The arrogance of power is killing democracy
June 17, 2011 01:27 PM |

*Some Congressmen in the habit of mudslinging are trying to deflect focus
from the anti-corruption debate by indulging in accusations against Anna
Hazare and his team. Which other country has an unelected prime minister
or, criminal cases against nearly a third of its elected representatives,
and these same people are talking about democracy in peril from the
unelected? *

Congress Party spokesperson Manish Tiwari says, Our democracy faces its
peril from the unelected and the unelectable…. (13 June 2011) Finance
minister Pranab Mukherjee labels Anna Hazare a tyrant! These Congressmen,
who are habituated to mudslinging, have persistently indulged in hurling
accusations at Anna Hazare and his team to deflect public focus from the
Lokpal debate.

First they tried to fabricate a CD over some registration of a plot against
the Bhushans, which attempt fell flat. Now they are trying to get people to
believe that Mr Hazare is working for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh/Bharatiya Janata Party and not for the masses. Only the corrupt, and
not democracy, should feel threatened by such a mass movement. Democracy is
the people, not the government.

And let it be understood by the arrogant who occupy positions of power, that
democracy is not their personal domain or a 'members-only club' where
'unelected' citizens have no role to play. If that were so, should we assume
that Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and the entire galaxy of our
freedom fighters got away with their sins, and that Manish Tiwari would have
prosecuted them for being 'unelected tyrants'. Such people must introspect
and make a serious attempt to change their outlook.

I have ten observations that could help analyse the government's perception
vis-à-vis the ground reality, in the ongoing turmoil in the country's
political field.

1. No other democracy in the world has an unelected prime minister apart
from India, which is supposed to be the world's largest democracy. Which is
probably also why it is being said that our democracy faces peril from its
people…

2. No other prime minister or president of a democracy has been as silent or
as invisible as is the case in India.

3. No other government in the civilised modern world receives orders from an
extra-constitutional authority (10 Janpath) as obsequiously as the Indian
government.

4. No other government in the civilised world has been seen staggering so
indecisively, and so clownish, as our government has been. First, they tried
to make fun of Anna Hazare; then, terrified at the overwhelming response to
his call and the support for the anti-corruption campaign, the government
caved in and set up the joint drafting committee for the Lokpal Bill. Unable
to answer questions raised by the civil society members of Hazare's team,
Pranab Mukherjee calls him a tyrant! Next, the top four in the government
prostrate before Baba Ramdev, then beat up the yoga guru's supporters two
days later. What kind of 'democracy' is this, and who is destroying it?

5. No other democracy in the world has as many as nearly a third of its
members of Parliament (mainly the Lok Sabha) (about 162 plus Suresh Kalmadi,
A Raja, Kanimozhi and now may be even Dayanidhi Maran and P Chidambaram)
facing criminal charges ranging from trespassing to murder. (This is more
than a 26% increase over the record of members in the previous Lok Sabha.
There are nine ministers in the central cabinet who face criminal charges,
one of them for 'theft'. (According to National Election Watch, 76 members
of Parliament are involved in seriouscriminal cases. A total 522 cases are
pending against various members of Parliament; 275 of these are under
serious sections of the Indian Penal Code.) What more do we need to add, Mr
Manish Tewari, that will imperil democracy in India.

6. India ranks at 87 in the survey on the 'International Perception of
Corruption' conducted by the World Bank and IBRD, BertelsmanFoundation,
World Economic Forum, Global Insight and Transparency International Berlin.
India stands on level with countries like Albania, Jamaica and Liberia with
an index of 3.3 (out of 10), that has fallen from 3.5 in 2007 and 3.4 in
2008 2009.

7. No sane government, other than a heartless, tyrant would unleash
brutality against a peaceful *bhajan*-singing congregation of innocent men,
women and children, as happened at Delhi's Ram Lila ground, late night on
4-5 June 2011.

8. According to media reports (*The Times of India*, Ahmedabad, 8 June
2011), India not only tops the list of nations having tons of black
moneystashed
away in Swiss banks, but its cache of black money ($1,546 billion) is far
more than the combined total of the next four countries in the list of
black money deposits namely, Russia, the UK, Ukraine and China ($1,056

*BY ARUN AGRAWAL*

*“The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it”*

*“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play”*

- Joseph Goebbels

Why is P Chidambaram the greatest opponent of the Jan Lokpal bill? Why has
he become so desperate so as to attack peaceful fasting people in dead of
the night? Why did he time his interview to justify the excesses of midnight
swoop with that of the fast of Anna?

It is because if the Jan Lokpal comes into being Chidambaram’s political
career will be over. As Finance Minister Chidambaram was responsible for
generating the largest amount of black money. He was also responsible for
the highest amount of corruption as the black money that was generated was
through corruption. The loss to the exchequer during his tenure of would be
over two lakh crores, divided equally between 2G Scam and the Iron Ore Scam.

It is for this reason that he is the greatest opponent of Jan Lokpal and
will go to any extent to oppose it by means fair and foul. The civil society
members of the drafting committee should demand his removal as he has a huge
conflict of interest in eradication of corruption through an independent
Lokpal as envisaged in the Jan Lokpal bill.

But first the charges against Chidambaram:

   - Is it not true that Essar was paid Rs 1700 crores by Hutch for the
purpose of getting the government clearance from FIPB (under Finance
Ministry) for the Hutch-Vodafone deal by a particular date?

   - Was it a coincidence that the government gave the clearance within the
time stipulated by Hutch, despite Hutch violating the foreign investment
ceiling norms, and forgot to collect Rs 10,000 crores of income tax before
   giving the clearance?

   - Is it not true that Chidambaram as Finance Minister failed to ensure
that the pricing of spectrum/license takes place at market related price
through a cabinet decision and not be left to the corrupt ministers of the
DMK? Can the polite letters written at the time absolve him of the guilt of
loss of around Rs 80,000 crores (pan India spectrum price
calculated at Rs 10,000 crores, the price at which they were sold) crores
   caused by Raja and Maran?

   - How could he have allowed Maran and Raja to sell the pan
Indiaspectrum/license for Rs1600 crores in 2007 and 2008 when
Vodafone bought
Hutch shares for a valuation of Rs 75,000 crores in February 2007? Can he
claim to be so ignorant of the law and valuation so as to allow the deal to
take place? Did he protect public interest and public revenue?

   - Did he not choose to look the other way knowing fully well that the
black money will help DMK and the Congress win the election and bring them
back to power. In fact the manner in which he won his own election, after
losing it, tells its own story. The petition pending in the High Court
challenging his election will probably not be decided till his tenure as a
MP and Minister is over. Not surprising, he wants the judiciary out of the
   Lokpal ambit!

   - Chidambaram’s accountability in the 2G scam would have been nailed by
any independent investigator and more so by a Lokpal. He has gone scot free
because of his influence over the CBI and the fact that Congress has a
majority in the House. Chidambaram is as guilty as Maran and Raja. An
independent Lokpal would end the political career of this so called elected
representative of the people who has been threatening civil society. (He
used to do it with the ultra left movement also till the author nailed
his lie in a post published here at Canary
Traphttp://canarytrap.in/2010/05/20/naxal-issue-open-letter-to-p-chidambaram/).

   - Chidambaram was responsible for the generation of a two lakh crores of
black money by the mining mafia due to illegal mining, low royalty and
massive evasion of income tax. The mining royalty is to be revised every
three years as per section 8 of MMDR Act. It came up for revision in October
2004. The royalty was deliberately kept low and fixed and not ad valorem.
This despite soaring profits in the mining of iron ore. The royalty was
deliberately kept at a token amount of Rs 15/tonne (average) when the
industry was making windfall profits. He deliberately did not revise the
royalty on 14/10/2007 when the rates of iron ore had doubled in three years
and profit was 80 per cent. He did not revise the royalty in 2008 as long as
   he was finance minister.

   - The sales record of the iron ore miners will show

Congress, T.R. Baalu, shipping and road transport minister in the UPA
II cabinet, wrote a seven-page letter to party head, M.
Karunanidhihttp://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/story/profile-of-dmk-chief-m-karunanidhi/1/138040.html,
saying he had had enough. He wanted to retire. He had watched his party
leadership abandon his colleague, A. Raja, in the 2G
casehttp://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/specials/2Gscam/index.jspwithout
remorse. And he knew that the future was going to get worse with
Jayalalithaa in charge of Tamil Nadu.

Union Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister, M.K. Azhagiri, Karunanidhi's son
from his second wife Dayalu Ammal, has already expressed fears of a
backlash. As one of the architects of the DMK financial empire, he should
know. A skein of scandal stretches across a DMK domain that extends from
controversial real estate deals to liquor licence contracts to universities.

In Chennai, the city's new police commissioner, J.K. Tripathy, installed on
Jayalalithaa's first day in office, has already told his officers to
investigate the following:

   - Alleged building violations in Chennai's Gopalapuram area where 50
multi-storeyed apartments are, directly or indirectly, owned by
Karunanidhi's family members and top DMK leaders. The cost of the buildings
is estimated at a little over Rs 10,000 crore.
   - The source of cash that CBI and ED officials claim was used by members
of the DMK family to procure at least 35 plots across the state during
   2006-11.
   - Real estate deals worth over Rs 15,000 crore brokered by Raja Shankar,
a top Chennai-based realtor close to former deputy CM M.K. Stalin.
   - Cash reserves of Kalaignar tv, a channel started by DMK in 2007, that
is facing charges of illegal gratification of Rs 200 crore from db Realty
related to the 2G scam. Investigators want to know how Dayalu Ammal and
Kanimozhi, founding directors of the channel, contributed Rs 8 crore of the
   Rs 10 crore seed money.
   - The case of Sadiq Batcha, former Union telecommunications minister A.
Raja's aide, who allegedly committed suicide on March 16. Dr V. Deckel, the
Chennai-based physician who conducted Batcha's autopsy, has expressed doubts
over the cause of his death. Investments made by Greenhouse Developers, a
real estate company started by Batcha and his friends, will also be probed.
   - Charges of discrepancies in the state SEZ plan at Kottyvakkam where
different prices were detected by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG)
for the same plot of land offered to various companies. CAG mentioned the
discrepancies in its report submitted to the state government two years ago.

   - DMK's link with Coimbatore-based Santiago Martin, India's illegal
lottery king, and whether the party had lobbied with the Centre to get the
controversial Myanmarese national permission to start online lotteries in
India in partnership with arms agents.
   - Assets of DMK's transport minister, K.N. Nehru, and the means by which
he acquired a coal mine in Indonesia and a diamond mine in Botswana.
   - Generous donations made to Tamil Maiyam, an NGO run by Kanimozhi, a
week before the 2G auction in January 2008. Tata Teleservices and Reliance
Capital are among those who have donated Rs 25 lakh each. The others were
Unitech and Indiabulls (Rs 50 lakh each) and Sistema Shyam TeleServices (Rs
10 lakh). There will also be an investigation into whether an estimated Rs
500 crore was spent by various units of the state government on contracts
for the NGO to organise government functions such as music festivals and
dance recitals during the five years of dmk rule.

The AIADMK will also probe liquor licences issued by the previous
government. The DMK had issued five licences to start distilleries, four of
which went to people with party connections. While Baalu is a director in
one company, Kalaignar tv ceo Sarath Kumar has a stake in another. The fifth
licence went to a person who got it only after the Madras High Court's
intervention.

DMK leaders have been in damage control mode from the time the 2G scam
tentacles threatened the party's ruling coterie. In January, the state
government removed mention of Tamil Maiyam from the advertisement for the
Chennai Sangamam festival. The move followed a public interest writ petition
by advocate P. Pugalenthi, seeking to restrain the state government from
associating itself with Tamil Maiyam after the ngo was raided by the CBI on

Jammu Kashmir - History and its present status

2010-09-29 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
Kashmir is on the boil once again. Sectarian Muslims in Kashmir motivated
solely by a hatred derived by religious bigotry are once again creating
mayhem in Kashmir, abetted by Pakistan . Hindus can no longer ignore the
plight of the Hindu Pandits of Kashmir who have been deprived of their home
and hearth by the Muslims. The Government seems to be insensitive to the
sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandits.

The Muslim and Hindu peoples of Kashmir have lived in relative harmony and
friendliness since the 13th century when Islam first became the majority
religion in Kashmir . The Sufi-Islamic way of life that ordinary Muslims
followed in Kashmir complemented the rishi tradition of Kashmiri Pandits
(Hindus), leading to a syncretic culture where Hindus and Muslims revered
the same local saints and prayed at the same shrines.
Periodically however, there have been rulers and leaders who have had a
narrow view of Islam, and have subjected Hindu minorities to great cruelties
and discrimination. The current armed secessionist movement in Kashmir
mostly derives its inspiration from these people.
A canard is now being spread past few years by the secessionist-terrorists
and their sympathizers that in 1990 Kashmiri Pandits left Kashmir willingly,
having been tricked by then Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan. Nothing
could be farther from the truth. The fact is that Kashmiri Pandits were
driven from their homeland after a campaign of intimidation and harassment
was launched against them by the military-wing of the secessionists.
Kashmiri Pandits were forced from their hearths and homes at the point of
gun. The objective of this ethnic cleansing was to create a minority free
Kashmir valley where the goal of Islamization could be easily forced on the
ordinary people.

However, the history of Kashmir proves beyond doubt that Kashmir belongs to
Hindustan . Therefore every Hindu must raise his voice against the
atrocities by the Muslims on Kashmiri Pandits. And the Government of India
must take definitive steps to show Pakistan and its terrorist organisations
and the sectarian forces in Kashmir their place.

Will ‘rationalist’ Karuna face the challenge of ‘superstition’?

Thamizhchelvan

*23 Sep 2010*

Reporting on the renovation of temples at a cost of around Rs. 450 crores by
the Tamil Nadu government, the Delhi-based daily, *The Pioneer*, said, “TN
CM is full of Karuna and Nidhi for Temples.” The Chennai edition of *The
Times of India* said, “Tamil Nadu CM turns temple patron”.

Both newspapers didn’t fail to remark about the Chief Minister’s atheistic
ideology and anti-Brahmin stand. However, it is a surprise why they should
hype the government’s spending of Rs. 450 crores which is a pittance
compared to the revenue it gets from the temples by means of contributions
made by Hindu *bhaktas*. After all, it is the duty of the government to
spend the money on temple related projects, as the money has been
contributed by Hindus only for that purpose.

Though both newspapers naively speculated on the CM’s attitudinal change,
observers of TN politics are aware of his dubiousness in this regard. His
political preference is exactly opposite his personal preference, but a
major section of the people of Tamil Nadu has not understood his double
standards.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, throughout his political career, has
survived by adopting the divide rule policy conceived by the British
through distortion of our history and civilisation. He has never missed a
single opportunity to make disparaging remarks about Hindus, Hindu Gods,
philosophy and culture, apart from denigrating Sanskrit and Hindi, and
simultaneously he has appeased minorities for their votes.

When Hindus protested against the installation of atheist EV Ramasamy’s
statue in front of the famous Srirangam Temple in 2006, he asked, “When
temple towers have nude sculptures and when nude Gods and Goddesses are kept
inside the Temples, what is wrong in having a well dressed EVR in front of
the Temple?”

On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi in 2007, he said, “Lord Ganesha was born in
Vathapi (Karnataka) and was brought to Tamil Nadu from there during Pallava
period and hence he is not a Tamil God.” His TV Channel (Kalaignar TV)
brazenly launched its telecast on the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
However, he has never made insulting remarks about Bhagwan Muruga, younger
brother of Ganesha, as Muruga/Karthik is revered and worshipped as a “Tamil
God”.

At the peak of the Rama Setu Protection Movement against the Setu Samudram
Project, Karunanidhi said, “Some say there was a person over 17 lakh years
ago. His name was Ramar. Do not touch the bridge constructed by him, they
are saying. But then, from which engineering college did he graduate? Is
there any proof for this?”

Then, touching his pet Aryan-Dravidian theory, he exposed his “knowledge” of
the *Ramayana:* “Rama is an Aryan God and Ravana is a Dravidian King, and
the communal (read Hindu) organizations working against Setu Samudram
project are Aryans trying to stall the development of Dravidian Tamil Nadu”

Later, sitting relaxed at his bungalow during NDTV’s *Walk the
Talk*program, he told Shekhar Gupta of
*Indian Express*, “Tulsi Das had written in his *Ramayana* that Sita was the
sister of Rama and Valmiki had written that Rama was a drunkard,” thereby
exposing his knowledge of Tulsi *Ramayana* and Valmiki *Ramayana*. He has
never criticized Bhagwan Krishna, and allegedly worships him in secrecy in
the Krishna temple just opposite his residence!

As Chief Minister, he always conveys his official greetings to Muslims and
Christians on the eve of all their festivals, but never greets Hindus on the
eve of any festival. He greets the people only on *Pongal /*
*Sankranti*which, thought celebrated nation-wide, is held to be a
Tamil cultural
festival.

Karunanidhi conveniently avoids criticizing anything connected with Tamil,
be it God, festival, or culture. His selective amnesia makes his forget the
fact that his ‘mentor’ EVR was a Kannadiga from Karnataka, and he himself
has a Telugu ancestry and Telugu as his mother tongue. This ‘atheist’ has a
‘divine’ habit of always wearing a yellow shawl, for which he has given many
‘rational’ explanations, not one of which is convincing. The truth is that
yellow is the colour associated with Bhagwan Dakshinamurthy and
Karunanidhi’s original name is Dakshinamurthy; he wears a yellow shawl
allegedly on the advice of a team of astrologers.

He is reputed to have stated: “I am not against Brahmins, but only against
Brahmanism. Brahmanism practised by people of any caste will be opposed by
me and my party.” He doesn’t hesitate to keep many Brahmins around him in
important posts. Even for health care, he keeps Brahmin doctors; his Yoga
teacher is also a Brahmin. But he indulges in ridiculing Brahmins, as
evidenced by his party organ *Murasoli* spewing venom on the weekly
magazines *Kalki* and

*LETTER OF EDITOR OF TIMES OF INDIA TO PRIME MINISTER*

   Dear Mr. Prime minister

I am a typical mouse from Mumbai. In the local train compartment which has
capacity of 100 persons, I travel with 500 more mouse. Mouse at least squeak
but we don't even do that.

Today I heard your speech. In which you said 'NO BODY WOULD BE SPARED'. I
would like to remind you that fourteen years has passed since serial bomb
blast in Mumbai took place. Dawood was the main conspirator. Till today he
is not caught. All our bolywood actors, our builders, our Gutka king meets
him but your Government can not catch him. Reason is simple; all your
ministers are hand in glove with him. If any attempt is made to catch him
everybody will be exposed. Your statement 'NOBODY WOULD BE SPARED' is
nothing but a cruel joke on this unfortunate people of India.

Enough is enough. As such after seeing terrorist attack carried out by about
a dozen young boys I realize that if same thing continues days are not away
when terrorist will attack by air, destroy our nuclear reactor and there
will be one more Hiroshima.

We the people

 Dear Friends

Fighting the odds to emerge successful. This great boy,
Raghavasimhan, stayed focussed on his studies to achieve the desired
objective despite the disorder. He has simply defeated the diabetic disorder
which had tried to supress him mentally and physically. God Bless this
child. I was at his bedside when he was diagnosed with keto acedosis and his
PH ratio was as low as 1, which in medical terms was near fatal.
Dr.Hariharan of Nanganallur diagnosed this disorder at the right time and
brought him back to life. From then on, Raghavasimhan is on insulin. He has
simply brushed aside this disorder and stayed focussed on his studies and
has scored 98% in his plus 2 exams. By the way, his father devanathan, a CA
in practice, is my very close friend. Kindly click on the following link to

The average age of the army man is 19 years.
He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is
considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears,
not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He
never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than
wash his father's, but he has never collected unemployment dole either.

He's a recent college graduate; he was probably an average student from one
of the Kendriya Vidyalayas, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a
ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with
him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world
away. He listens to rock and roll or hip -hop or country or gazals or swing
and a 155mm howitzer.

He is 5 or 7 kilos lighter now than when he was at home because he is
working or fighting the insurgents or standing gaurd on the icy Himalayas
from before dawn to well after dusk or he is at Mumbai engaging the
terrorists. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him,
but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time
in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or
grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional.
He can march until he is told to stop, or stop until he is told to march.
He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without
spirit or individual dignity. His pride and self-respect, he does not lack.
He is self-sufficient.
He has two sets of combat dress: he washes one and wears the other.
He keeps his water bottle full and his feet dry.
He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He
can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.
If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his
food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when
you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his
hands.
He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.
He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still
find ironic humor in it all.
He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short
lifetime.

He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat
and is unashamed.

He feels every note of the Jana Gana Mana vibrate through his body while at
rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those
around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hands from their
pockets, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right
to be disrespectful.
Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the
price for our freedom.

Beardless or not, he is not a boy.
He is your nation's Fighting Man that has kept this country free and
defended your right to Freedom. He has experienced deprivation and
adversity, and has seen his buddies falling to bullets and maimed and blown.

But,

He has asked nothing in return, except our acknowledgement of his
existence and understanding of his human needs.
Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his
blood.
And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this
tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.

As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot. . ..
A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.

Prayer wheel for our military... please don't break it Please send this on
after a short prayer.
Prayer Wheel

'Lord Krishna, hold our Indian Army in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform
for us in our time of need'.

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and pray to Lord Krishna
for our soldier, sailors , and airmen , in all frontiers
There is nothing attached...
This can be very powerful...
Of all the gifts you could give a Soldier, Sailor, or Airman,
prayer to God is the very best one.

I can't break this one, sorry.
Pass it on to everyone and pray for the Indian Soldier. And unlike your
'Babus' or 'Netas'

*He will always do you proud!!!*

Dear Tech Support Team:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0.

I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child-processes that
took up a lot of space and valuable resources.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now
monitors all other system activities.

Applications such as BachelorNights 10.3, Cricket 5.0, BeerWithBuddies 7.5,
and Outings 3.6 no longer runs, crashing the system whenever selected. I
can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run
my favorite applications.

I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 5.0 , but the 'uninstall'
doesn't work on Wife 1.0.

Please help!

Thanks,
A Troubled User

REPLY:

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that people complain about.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is
just a Utilities and Entertainment program.

Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run
EVERYTHING!!!

It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 5.0.

It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system
once installed.

You cannot go back to Girlfriend 5.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed not to
allow this. (Look in your Wife 1.0 Manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child
Support)

I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the environment.

I suggest installing the background application Yes Dear to alleviate
software augmentation.

The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because
ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system
will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife
1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook
1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these
programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag
9.5

Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to
purchase additional software. I recommend Sarees 2.1 and Jewellery 5.0

STATUTORY WARNING : DO NOT, under any circumstances, install
SecretaryWithShortSkirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0
and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of luck,
Tech Support .

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the
air. You name them - Work, Family, Health, Friends nd Spirit and you're
keeping all of these in the Air.

*You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it
will bounce back.

But the other four Balls - Family, Health, Friends and Spirit - are made of
glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked,
nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must
understand that and strive for it. --*

Remove from the garden of your heart, the thorny bushes of greed and
anger, jealousy and selfishness, the evil breed of I and Mine. Uproot
them even when they emerge as seedlings. All this discipline is truly
required for earning *Shanthi* (Peace). Be firmly convinced that you are the
Universal Soul. That conviction will make every subsequent spiritual
practice very easy. If you fondle the illusion that you are the body or the
senses, then any spiritual practice that you will yield will tender only
rot-ridden fruit. It cannot grow and become ripe and the sweet fruit of
Peace cannot be won even at the end of many lives. Give up the theory that
you are the body and the senses; this itself will lead to the receding of *

Candidate for IIM AHEMEDABAD

2009-10-09 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
A beautiful Madam was having trouble with one of her students in 1st
Grade class. Madam asked,Boy, what is your problem?

Boy answered, I'm too smart for the first-grade.My sister is in the
third-grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 4th
Grade!

Madam had enough. She took the Boy to the Principal's office. While the Boy
waited in the outer office, Madam explained to the Principal what the
situation was. The Principal told Madam he would give the boy a test and if
he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the
first-grade and behave. She agreed.

The Boy was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and
he agreed to take the test.

Principal: What is 3 x 3?

Boy.: 9.

Principal: What is 6 x 6?
Boy.: 36.

And so it went with every question the Principal thought a 4th grade should
know. The Principal looks at Madam and tells her, I think Boy can go to the
4th grade.

Madam says to the principal, I have some of my own questions. Can I ask him
? The Principal and Boy both agreed.

Madam asks, What does a cow have four of that I have only two of?

Boy, after a moment, Legs.

Madam: What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?

Boy: Pockets.

Madam: What starts with a C and ends with a T, is hairy, oval,
delicious and contains thin whitish liquid?

Boy: Coconut

Madam: What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft And sticky?

The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer,
Boy was taking charge.

Boy: Bubblegum

Madam: What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a dog
does on three legs?

The Principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer...

Boy: Shake hands

Madam: You stick your poles inside me. You tie me down to get me up. I get
wet before you do.

Boy: Tent

Madam: A finger goes in me. You fiddle with me when you're bored. The best
man always has me first.

The Principal was looking restless, a bit tense and took one large Patiala
Vodka peg.

Boy: Wedding Ring

Madam: I come in many sizes. When I'm not well, I drip. When you blow me,
you feel good.

Boy: Nose

Madam: I have a stiff shaft. My tip penetrates. I come with a quiver.

Boy: Arrow

Madam: What word starts with a 'F' and ends in 'K' that means lot of heat
and excitement?

Boy: Firetruck

Madam: What word starts with a 'F' and ends in 'K' if u dont get it, u
have to use ur hand.

Boy: Fork

Madam: What is it that all men have one of, it's longer on some men than on
others, the Pope doesn't use his, and a man gives it to his wife after
they're married?

Boy: SURNAME.

Madam: What part of the man has no bone but has muscles, has lots of veins,
likes pumping, is responsible for making love ?

Boy: HEART

The Principal breathed a sigh of relief and said to the teacher,

Send this Boy to IIM AHMEDABAD, I got the last ten questions wrong
myself!.

My mail was simple. I promptly apologized as a gentleman to members who
felt bad and felt that I am not in right company (*wrong person in right

be in that company. At this age if people cannot enjoy a good laughter then
all I can say God Bless them. My forwards have been from religious to
political to jokes (stand comedy, black comedy and double meaning). I
thought I was catering to the infotain-needs of various types of members.
If I was in their place, I would have used an option, delete the mail after
reading the title. I couldn't agree more with a person after this episode
who had said that Indians do not have sense of humour.

If you remember, first time someone objected, I decided to send a personal

amount of response. But I was persuaded by few to send mail to group only.

This time some one sent me mail objecting but heading was as follows.

Rise and fall of the international terrorist organisation and the Terrorist - The LTTE Prabhakaran

2009-05-20 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
The quickest way to end a war is to lose one, but the Sri Lankans took 25
years to fell Prabhakaran and at enormous cost. Over 1 lakh civilians,
22,000 soldiers and 30,000 LTTE rebels were killed in the war and these are
numbers that will now remain the vital stats of Asia's longest war. But
behind these numbers is the tale of the rise and fall of the world's most
dreaded terrorist organisation - Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) -
reduced from 15,000 square kilometres to a 60 X 40 box.

The LTTE was born amid Tamil despair as Sri Lanka, driven by chauvinist
Sinhala politicians who swung the state towards a policy favouring the
Sinhala majority. As Tamil aspirations were snuffed out, 18-year-old
Vellupillai Prabhakaran - a school dropout and *Clint
Eastwood*http://connect.in.com/profile/Clint_Eastwood/671fan -
launched the LTTE in the Jaffna jungles.

Prabhakaran later said: I entered politics as an armed revolutionary. I
named the movement 'Liberation Tigers' since the tiger emblem had deep roots
in the political history of the Tamils. The tiger symbol also depicts the
mode of our guerrilla warfare.

The LTTE pioneered the use of unconventional tactics and were the first to
use improvised explosive devices. they had ideologically driven suicide
bombers and at least in the intitial years they were armed, trained and fed
by an *Indian* http://connect.in.com/profile/Indian/302225 establishment
determined to pay Colombo back for its pro-Pakistan policies.

The rebels learnt their lessons well. In 1983 in their first major attack
they killed 13 Sri Lankan soldiers in Jaffna triggering anti-Tamil riots in
Colombo which left 3,000 Tamils dead. Over 1 lakh Tamils then fled to India
for refuge. For Prabhakaran, it was the bugle call to herald the first Eelam
War.

But the India-Prabhakaran relationship was a difficult one. He resented any
attempt to control him and the crunch came with the India-Sri Lanka Accord
of 1987 when *Indian* http://connect.in.com/profile/Indian/302225 troops
landed in Tiger territory to oversee an autonomy plan for the Tamil majority
in the north and eastern provinces. Prabhakaran would not cooperate, refused
to disarm and paid the price by being driven out of Jaffna.

Three years later the *Indian*
http://connect.in.com/profile/Indian/302225troops had left and this
time Prabhakaran would not be held back. He took
back Jaffna and in 1991, sent an assassination squad of the Black Tigers to
India.

The target was then prime minister *Rajiv
Gandhi*http://connect.in.com/profile/Rajiv_Gandhi/227615who was
blown to bits in a rally in Sriperambadur by a female suicide
bomber. Two years later it was the turn of President Premadasa in Colombo.
Selectively hardline Sinhala Sri Lankan ministers were also targeted and
Tamil opposition politicians were killed. Prabhakaran, it seemed, would
tolerate no rivals.

By mid-1995 with then president Chandrika Kumaratunga in charge, the Sri
Lankan army took complete control of Jaffna and the rebels were driven into
the Wanni jungles. The tide reversed in 1997 when the Sri Lankan army was
driven out of Killinochchi, which went on to become the headquarters of the
rebels.

There followed an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Kumaratunga in
December 1999. She survived, losing just one eye. The next year the LTTE
seized control of the strategic Elephant Pass and held the initiative in the
war.

But terrorism was becoming a bad word overseas and after 17 years with more
than 1 million people displaced, Sri Lanka's war was getting
internationalised.

Then 9/11 gave Colombo what it needed the most - recognition of the LTTE as
a terrorist group. In 2002, the LTTE had to agree to a permanent ceasefire
agreement brokered by Norway giving hope for the much-eluded peace.

In 2004, LTTE's Eastern commander Colonel Karuna defected taking along 5,000
cadres. Karuna, now a minister, claims that the LTTE had by then lost 70 per
cent of its firepower, its international funding had also been cut down with
the European Union and the West banning the organisation.

The island's general elections in the same year brought a man to power who
came with Prabhakaran's death warrant - the hardliner Mahinda Rajapaksa who
vowed 'honorable peace for the island nation'.

The government unliterally terminated the 2002 ceasefire in January 2008 and
President Rajapaka ordered the begining of final phase of the war, telling
his troops to go for the kill.

Five army divisions got into the act in January moving in from the north and
the south. They cleaned up the Northwest, finally capturing Pooneryn by
November 2008. By January 2009, the strategic town of Paranathan was taken
over bringing the troops closer to the LTTE headquarters of Kilinochi -
which fell the next day.

The all important A-9 highway was by then completely secure. A week later,
the strategic Elephant Pass was captured and the Jaffna Peninsula was
reconnected with rest of the country.

With the rebels confined to the

Free of charges for ATM cash withdrawal from April 1, 2009 CIRCULAR - Reg

2009-03-29 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
Dear all,

Based on the below circular with effect from (w.e f) 1st April
2009.there is no charges for cash withdrawal even if you are using other
than your Bank's ATM.

keep this circular as reference in case of any clarifications required.

 *Date: *Mar 10, 2008

*Customer charges for use of ATMs for cash withdrawal and balance enquiry*

*RBI/2007-2008/260*
DPSS No.1405 / 02.10.02 / 2007-2008

March 10, 2008

The Chairman / Chief Executive Officer
(All Scheduled commercial banks including RRBs)

Dear Sir

*Customer charges for use of ATMs for cash withdrawal and balance enquiry*

1. Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) have gained prominence as a delivery
channel for banking transactions in India . Banks have been deploying ATMs
to increase their reach. While ATMs facilitate a variety of banking
transactions for customers, their main utility has been for cash withdrawal
and balance enquiry. As at the end of December 2007, the number of ATMs
deployed in India was 32,342. Commensurate with the branch network, larger
banks have deployed more ATMs. Most banks prefer to deploy ATMs at locations
where they have a large customer base or expect considerable use. To
increase the usage of ATMs as a delivery channel, banks have also entered
into bilateral or multilateral arrangements with other banks to have
inter-bank ATM networks.

2. It is evident that the charges levied on the customers vary from bank to
bank and also vary according to the ATM network that is used for the
transaction. Consequently, a customer is not aware, before hand, of the
charges that will be levied for a particular ATM transaction, while using an
ATM of another bank. This generally discourages the customer from using the
ATMs of other banks. It is, therefore, essential to ensure greater
transparency.

3. International experience indicates that in countries such as UK , Germany
and France , bank customers have access to all ATMs in the country, free of
charge except when cash is withdrawn from white label ATMs or from ATMs
managed by non-bank entities. There is also a move, internationally, to
regulate the fee structure by the regulator from the public policy angle.
The ideal situation is that a customer should be able to access any ATM
installed in the country free of charge through an equitable cooperative
initiative by banks.

4. In view of this, RBI had placed on its website an Approach paper and
sought public comments. The comments received have been analysed. Based on
the feed back a framework of service charges would be implemented by all
banks as under:

*Sr.No.*

*Service*

*Charges*

(i)

For use of own ATMs for any purpose

Free (with immediate effect)

(2)

For use of other bank ATMs for balance enquiries

Free (with immediate effect)

(3)

For use of other bank ATMs for cash withdrawals

   - No bank shall increase the charges prevailing as on December 23, 2007
(i.e. the date of release of Approach Paper on RBI website)
   - Banks which are charging more than Rs.20 per transaction shall reduce
the charges to a maximum of Rs.20 per transaction by March 31, 2008
   - *Free - with effect from April 1, 2009. *

 5. For the services at (1) and (2) above, the customer will not be levied
any charge under any other head and the service will be totally free.

6. For the service number (3) the charge of Rs.20/- indicated will be all
inclusive and no other charges will be levied to the customers under any
other head irrespective of the amount of withdrawal.

7. The service charges for the following types of cash withdrawal
transactions may be determined by the banks themselves:

(a) cash withdrawal with the use of credit cards
(b) cash withdrawal in an ATM located abroad.

8. Please acknowledge the receipt of the circular. A copy of the circular
issued to your branches on this subject may please be submitted to us in due
course.

What is maturity ?

2009-03-22 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
What is maturity ?

Maturity is the ability to control anger and settle differences without
violence or destruction. Maturity is patience.

It is the willingness to pass up immediate pleasure in favor of the
long-term gain.

Maturity is perseverance, the ability to sweat out a project or a situation
in spite of heavy opposition and discouraging set-backs. Maturity is the
capacity to face unpleasantness and frustration, discomfort and defeat,
without complaint or collapse.

Maturity is humility. It is being big enough to say, I was wrong. And,
when right, the mature person need not experience the satisfaction of
saying, I told you so.

Maturity is the ability to make a decision and stand by it. The immature
spend their lives exploring endless possibilities; then they do nothing.

Maturity means dependability, keeping one's word, coming through in a
crisis. The immature are masters of the alibi. They are the confused and the
disorganized. Their lives are a maze of broken promises, former friends,
unfinished business, and good intentions that somehow never materialize.

Maturity is the art of living in peace with that which we cannot change, the
courage to change that which should be changed -- and the wisdom to know the
difference.

Isolate terror, do not secularise it!

2008-12-02 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
*01-12-2008*

*Isolate terror, do not secularise it! *

The mounting evidence says the New York Times [28/11] quoting American
intelligence and official, indicate that Pakistani militant group based in
Kashmir, most likely Lashkar-e-Taiba, or possibly another terror group in
Kashmir, Jaish-e-Mohammed, was responsible for the dastardly attack on
Mumbai on 26 November. 'The Mumbai terror has been planned for the last six
months' and 'the terrorists came from Karachi; they landed on the Indian
coast through boats; they were trained by Pakistan Navy for 12 to 18 months;
Dawood Ibrahim's local infrastructure had provided the logistics for the
attack; the terror bears the Inter-Services Intelligence [ISI] stamp' – say
the media reports citing Indian intelligence and Mumbai police. All this
point to the Jihadi character of the terror. The Jewish religious head in
Mumbai and the white foreigners staying in hotels as special targets of the
terrorists who allowed Turkish Muslim inmates of Taj Hotel to escape because
they were Muslims reinforced the view that the terrorists were part of the
global Islamist terror network against non-Mulims [Kafirs]. Yet the Home
Minister first, the Prime Minister later made statements on November 27,
warned that the terrorists would pay for their crime, but, did not utter a
word about who were the terrorists, and where they came from.

There entered the Minister of State for Home Affairs Sri Prakash Jaiswal. He
provided the comedy in an otherwise grim tragedy that Mumbai has been
experiencing for 48 hours. He told the media on November 28, that 'terror
could be a conspiracy hatched by right-wing Hindu parties'. Hindu parties –
read the BJP? Yes. So Pakistan, or Lashkar-e-Toiba or Jaish-e-Mohammed or
other Jihadi outfits are not the prime suspects! Following this line The
Chinese People's Daily suspected Hindu terrorists as the culprits! But most
secular media in India fortunately dismissed the junior minister's statement
as just a juvenile prank. As his state minister was striving to make those
who cry laugh, the Prime Minister stepped in to supplement his junior
minister's efforts to humour the nation. On that very day, he invited the
chief of the ISI – the main suspect in the terror on Mumbai – to come to
Delhi. Why? To share info on the Mumbai terror with the main conspirator! Is
it that the PM too was cracking a joke like his junior minister by inviting
the ISI chief?

The ISI continues to be, as it always was since 1959 when it was born,
hostile to India. On August 1, 2008, the New York Times reported, citing US
officials, American intelligence agencies have concluded that Pakistan's
ISI had helped plan the deadly July 7 bombing of India's embassy in Kabul
that left 58 dead and 141 wounded. As his junior minister spoke of Hindu
terrorists as suspects, the Prime Minister invited the ISI chief, a well
known jihadi who was involved in the jihad in the July Kabul attack to
assist in investigating the Mumbai terror. Is the Prime Minister then asking
the main conspirator, ISI, to catch the other perpetrators – namely the
Jihadis who it had trained to attack India? Normally such an act would be a
subject of a cartoon.

Read together what Jaiswal said in Mumbai – namely the terrorists were from
Hindu political parties – on November 29 – and what Dr. Singh did in Delhi
on the same date – namely invite the ISI chief to probe the Mumbai terror.
Did the Prime Minister take his minister of state for home so seriously that
he wanted the Hindu angle to the Mumbai terror – some Advani or Modi
involvement – to be jointly investigated by the IB in India and the ISI in
Pakistan? Or did he expect the ISI to confess to its involvement? Or did he
think that the ISI has suddenly shed its enmity and turned its admirer under
its secular leaders Sonia Gandhi, a Christian, and himself, a Sikh? But
fortunately for India, the Pakistan government refused to send the ISI chief
to India. The world would have laughed at India if the ISI chief had come to
India and declared to the media that the ISI would 'co-operate' with IB to
catch the culprits!

What has done India into this mess? It is the Indian polity's inability to
say plainly that Islamic terror is a global phenomenon, and it is extending
itself into India through global Islamic network. Result, instead of
isolating the terror, the national political discourse began secularising
it. The seculars saw normal anti-terror laws as anti-Muslim laws by showing
the number of detainees under the law which contained more Muslims. They
refused to acknowledge that global Islamic jihad appeals only to Muslims and
not to other communities. How then to maintain arithmetical parity between
communities in the arrests under the anti-terror law? Once it is conceded
that a terrorist has no religion, the person detained for acts of terror
also has no religion. How then could detainees under POTA be seen as Muslims
and others? More, this secular formulation has

10 Important calculations

2008-12-02 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
*Most important 10 calculations useful in our professional life*

*M*anaging money can involve calculations to understand the worth of an
investment. To arrive at a result, calculations can be done in a different
way or by using a different formula.

Even the same formula can be used differently to arrive at a certain result.
Here are a few commonly used money management formulas. Use an excel sheet
to do these.

1. *Compound Interest*

I want to take a loan of Rs 1 lakh to buy a used car. How much will the car
cost me at an annual interest rate of 8 per cent for four years?

The compound interest formula can be used here to calculate the final cost,
which would include the loan amount and the interest paid. The amount that
is actually paid for Rs 1 lakh is Rs 1,36,048.90. The total amount of
interest charged for borrowing Rs 1 lakh is Rs 36,048.90.

Formula: Future value = P(1 + R)^N

Type in: =10(1+8%)^4 and hit enter. P: amount borrowed; R: rate of
interest; N: time in years.

Also used for: Calculating the maturity value on lumpsum investment (bank
fixed deposits and National Savings Certificate, for example) over a fixed
period at a certain rate of interest.

*2.** Compound Annualised Growth Rate*

*I* had invested Rs 1 lakh in a mutual fund five years back at an NAV of Rs
20. Now the NAV is Rs 70. How should I calculate my returns on an annual
basis?

Compound annualised growth rate (CAGR) will be used here to calculate the
growth over a period of time. The gain of Rs 50 over five years on the
initial NAV of Rs 20 is a simple return of 250 per cent (50/20 * 100).
However, it should not be construed as 50 per cent average return over five
years.

Formula: CAGR = {[(M/I)^(1/N)] ? 1} * 100

Type in: =(((70/20)^(1/5))-1)*100 and hit enter. M: maturity value; I:
initial value; N: time in years. CAGR here is 28.47%.

Also used for: Calculating the annualised returns on a lumpsum investment in
shares.

*3.** Internal Rate of Return*

*I* paid Rs 18,572 every year on a moneyback insurance policy bought 20
years back. Every fifth year, I received Rs 40,000 back and Rs 4.5 lakh on
maturity. What was my rate of return?

The internal rate of return (IRR) has to be calculated here. It is the
interest rate accrued on an investment that has outflows and inflows at the
same regular periods.

In the excel page type Rs 18,572 as a negative figure (-18572), as it is an
outflow, in the first cell. Paste the same figure till the twentieth cell.

Then, as every fifth year has an inflow of Rs 40,000, type in Rs 21,428
(40,000-18,572) in every fifth cell. In the twentieth cell, type in ?18572.
In the twenty first cell, type in Rs 4,50,000, which is the maturity value
of the policy.

Then click on the cell below it and type: = IRR(A1:A21) and hit enter.

5.28% will show in the cell. This is your internal rate of return.

Also used for: Calculating returns on insurance endowment policies.

*4.** XIRR*

*I* bought 500 shares on 1 January 2007 at Rs 220, 100 shares on 10 January
at Rs 185 and 50 shares at Rs 165 on 18 May 2008. On 21 June 2008, I sold
off all the 650 shares at Rs 655. What is the return on my investment?

XIRR is used to determine the IRR when the outflows and inflows are at
different periods. Calculation is similar to IRR's. Transaction date is
mentioned on the left of the transaction.

In an excel sheet type out the data from the top most cell as shown here.
Outflows figures are in negative and inflows in positive. In the cell below
with the figure 4,25,750, type out

=XIRR (B1:B4,A1:A4)*100

Hit enter. The cell will show 122.95%, the total return on investment.

Also used for: Calculating MF returns, especially SIP, or that for
unit-linked insurance plans.

*5.** Post-Tax Return*

*M*y father wants a bank FD at 10 per cent return for five years. He pays
income tax. What will be the returns?

The post-tax return has to be calculated here. The idea is to know the final
returns on a fully taxable income. Interest income from the bank is taxed as
per your tax slab.

Formula: ROI ? (ROI * TR)=Post-tax return

Type in: =10 ? (10 * 30.9%) and hit enter. You will get 6.91%

ROI: rate of interest; TR: tax rate (depends on tax slab)

Also used for: Calculating post-tax returns of national savings
certificates, post-office time deposits, and Senior Citizens' Savings
Scheme.

*6.** Pre-Tax Yield*

*M*y brother says that the investment in public provident fund (PPF), which
gives 8 per cent, is the best. Isn't 8 per cent a low rate of return?

An investment's pre-tax yield tells us if its return is high or low. The
return on PPF (8 per cent) is tax-free. Also, this has to compared with
returns of a taxable income to estimate its worth. For someone paying a tax
of 30.9 per cent, the pre-tax yield in PPF is 11.57 per cent. At present,
there is no fixed, safe and assured-return option that has 11.57 per cent
return and a post-tax return comparable to PPF's 8 per cent.

Formula: Pre-tax yield = ROI /

M.N.Nambiar with long time friend and actor-politician M.G.Ramachandran

*M N Nambiar* a veteran villain actor from
Kollywoodhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kollywood,
he has been in the film industry for more than 50 years.

M.N. Nambiar (Manjeri Narayan Nambiar) is a veteran of theatre and
considered a legend in cinema. He is acknowledged to be one of the oldest
actors from the pre-war era who remains in the industry today. He remains
humble despite having worked with seven generations of actors.

A God fearing person, Nambiar is completely opposite to the villains that he
has portrayed all these years.

Born on March 7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_7,
1919http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1919in a
Nambiar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nambiar family of Kannur, Kerala, his
interest in acting starting when he was 13, when he joined Nawab
Rajamanikkam's troupe. From then on acting became the only thing that
occupied him. His first film was 'Bhaktha Ramadoss', shot in 1935 in Hindi
and Tamil, where he played a villain. Though he started as a hero but
started donning the role of a villain - so much so that today his name is
almost eponymous with the Kollywood villain. Nambiar has worked with seven
generations of actors from Balaiyah to Manoj (Bharathiraaja's son).

His first pay was Rs.3 in the Boys Company. He would retain Re 1 and send
Rs.2 to his mother. A man of very limited needs, he has not eaten outside of
his house and is a pure vegetarian. He is extremely health conscious.

A majority of the more than 1000 films that he has done is in Tamil, though
he has acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, besides an English film
`Jungle' (with Rod Cameron, the film's hero, directed by William Burke) in
which he appears in a few brief scenes. The film was released in 1952. The
Hindi film he acted in was a remake of the Tamil `Kanavane Kankanda Deivam.'

After becoming popular in Tamil films he started his own drama troupe called
Nambiar Nataka Mandram. They staged two plays — `Kaviyin Kanavu' and a
comedy play `Kalyana Supermarket.'

M.N. Nambiar is an ardent devotee of Sabarimala Sri Ayyappan. He has had a
long association with the temple, and visited the shrine more than 65 years
over the last half a century; this has led to him being called Maha
Guruswamy.

His favourite films remain `Aayirathil Oruvan' with MGR, `Ambikapathi' with
Sivaji Ganesan, `Missiyamma' with Gemini Ganesan, `Nenjam Marappathillai'
directed by Sridhar and `Thooral Ninu Pochu' with Bhagyaraj. This was the
film that made him do character roles, something that he continues to do
till now. Another film which is unfogettable is `Thigambarasamiyar' where he
did 11 roles. He also acted as hero in two films `Kalyani' and `Kavitha'
produced by Modern Theatres.

He has done stage, films and also serials such as `Velan.' When it comes to
acting, he supposedly likes all the actors; but of special mention are
M.R.Radha and Savithri. Both, in his opinion, were brilliant in their own
way.

WHAT MADE HINDUS ANGRY IN KARNATAKA

I WAS born in a Catholic family. My uncle was a priest, a wonderful man of
warmth and compassion and I spent most my early years in Catholic boarding
schools. When I was young I wanted to become a missionary and to
'convert' pagans in Asia. What I was taught by priests was that Hindus
worship false gods and they needed to be brought back to the True Word by
Jesus
Christ.

Then of course, I came to India and discovered that actually Hindus, far
from
being the heathens, as had been portrayed in Europe, not only believed God's
diversity, the wonderful concept of avatar, but had given refuge to all
persecuted minorities of the world, whether the Syrian Christians, the
Parsis,
the Jews (India is the only country in the world where Jews were not
persecuted), the Armenians, or today the Tibetans.

I am also aghast at the one-sided coverage by the Indian media of the
Christian- Hindu problem: blasts after blasts have killed hundreds of
innocent
Hindus in Varanasi, Delhi, Mumbai train blasts, Jaipur, etc. Yet, neither
Manmohan Singh nor Sonia Gandhi have pronounced once the word 'Islamic
terrorism.' But when furious Hindus, tired of being made fun of, of
witnessing their brothers and sisters converted by financials traps, of
seeing a
84-year-old swami and his Mataji brutally murdered, of reading blasphemy
about
their Gods, vent their anger against churches, many of them makeshifts, the
Indian government goes after the soft target which the Hindus are. The same
thing applies to the United States: they never warned Muslim organisations
in
India about the killing of Hindus, but when dollars are used to buy new
converts
and it angers the majority community of India,Washington has the arrogance
to
issue a warning, and Manmohan Singh does not have the
pride to tell the US to mind its own business.

Neither the Indian press nor the western correspondents bothered to write
about
what made Hindus angry in Karnataka: Newlife, one important western funded
missionary centre ( http://www.newlifevoice.org), began making conversions
in
and around Mangalore by accosting poor people in market areas, or in bus
stands,
befriending them and then taking them to churches to introduce them to the
father.

Upon introduction they were paid Rs 2,500 per person and then taken to the
Velankanni shrine, in Tamil Nadu, where they would get another Rs. 3,000.

When they finally converted to Christianity by changing the name, they got
an
incentive of Rs 10,000 onwards.

Newlife would then give them instructions to abandon wearing tilak on
forehead,
not to visit and offer prayers at the Hindu temples, replacing the photos
and
idols of Hindu gods and goddesses with a Cross, etc.

But what really angered local Hindus was when Newlife went one step further
and
published a book in Kannada — Satya Darshini — which was widely distributed
by its missionaries. Here below is the translation of some of the most
abusive
passages:

Urvashi — the daughter of Lord Vishnu — is a prostitute.

Vashistha is the son of this prostitute.

He in turn married his own Mother. Such a degraded person is the Guru of the
Hindu God Rama. (page 48).

When Krishna himself is wallowing in darkness of hell, how can he enlighten
others? Since Krishna himself is a shady character, there is a need for us
to
liberate his misled followers (page 50). It was Brahma himself who kidnapped
Sita.

Since Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were themselves victims of lust, it is a
sin to consider them as Gods. (page 39).

When the Trinity of Hinduism (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are consumed by lust
and anger, how can they liberate others? The projection of them as Gods is
nothing but a joke. (page 39). God, please liberate the sinful people of
India
who are worshipping False Gods. (Page 39).

When blasphemy and much worse is brought against the most sacred Hindu Gods,
Hindus are supposed to take it meekly as sheep and let themselves be
converted
to a foreign religion!

There are more than 4,000 foreign Christian missionaries involved in
conversion
activities across different states.

In Tripura, there were no Christians at the time of independence. There are
1,20,000 today, a 90 per cent increase since 1991.

The figures are even more striking in Arunachal Pradesh, where there were
only
1,710 Christians in 1961, but 1.2 million today, as well as 780 churches!

In Andhra Pradesh, churches are coming up every day in far-flung villages
and
there was even an attempt to set up one near Tirupati.

Christians throughout the ages have strived on the concept of persecution
and
as a brought up Catholic, I remember feeling bad about all those martyred
saints
of Christianity. Christians in India like

Re: FW: Pulse of the Army - from a soldier's daughter

2008-10-09 Thread sivakumar krishnamurthy
Dear Sir

Ms.Vaishnavi Prasad deserves to be praised by each and every patriotic
citizen of our country. What she said in the first sentence 'a military
coup' is required as it will instill the discipline to in each and every
citizen of this country. It will also see a large scale transformation of
our society as it will surely dissimate corruption and undo irresponsible
and the ugly politicians from this country. It is a shame that the our
Government is totally ignoring the defence forces. It is because of them we
are safe in our country. Our country is surrounded by enemy countries, to
the west is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan which is very much discliplined
in training, arming and sending terrorists to our country to create havoc
and disturb peace and communal harmony, to the east is the counrty liberated
by us called Bangladesh which again is an islamic country which has started
doing the same noble service as pakistan, to the noth is China which trains
moists and sends them into our country to hamper our country's development
and to take law into their hands and to the south is the country in turmoil
i.e., Srilanka where bitter fighting is ensuing between the Srilankan Arny
and the so called freedom fighters i.e, the LTTE which is no different from
Al Queda or Laksha-e-Taiba or Simi.

We have politicians who divide this country by religion caste and creed to
gain 3 things:

1.Vote Banks (eyeing on minority votes by appeasing them and on majority
votes by dividing them)

2. Power (for them and for their family members as the heriditary system is
in vogue now)

3. Loot our country to amass huge wealth.

I am sure that if we measure the wealth of the politicians of our country,
it is will be more than double that of our country's GDP and if their wealth
is attched, imagine our country's progress and prosperity. Our country's
inflation will spiral down and will touch zero in no time. Our country will
be liberated from the blood sucking leeches i.e, the politicians. Free
education can be offered to one and all and basic necessity of food,
clothing and shelter can be provided to the needy by the Government. Our
country will prosper as we will have the military discipline and 100%
literacy. We will not have a Mamata Banerjee or an Anthony or a foreigner as
the de-facto head of our county or for that matter no dirty and filthy
politicians indeed.

We have these irresponsible, unfit and uncouth politicians heading our
Government and Armed forces which they do not deserve at all. We have
witnessed Kargil War in which our armed forced sacrificed their lives to
save our country. Most of the assaults were near suicidal. Had this
intrusion not prevented by our armed forces, we would have lost ladakh and
the higher reaches of out Indian territory to our enemies and we would have
been under constant shelling. Our LOC will shink to Jammu (Kashmir will be
gone for ever).

Our Country Politicians are even worse than our enemy countries. A time will
come that these dogs will face the music and that will be the end of it.

Our Armed forces should be the best paid in our country. Because of them we
are safe and our country is safe. For a change and as a punishment, these
dirty political pigs should be posted in the borders and then only they will
realise what is life.

RE: Shameful situation of the pay scale for the Armed forces

 Sir,

I am Vaishnavi Prasad, daughter of Colonel K Prasad, whom you would
remember from MHOW between 1991-93. I am a student of Journalism in Chennai
and am closely following this issue, both on the news and through the email
group Report My Signals which my father recieves regularly. You are doing a
great service to the armed forces both serving and retired, in fighting the
injustice meted out them by the bureaucrats and the politicians.

Here, are my personal views on the same for your reading.

 Sincerely hoping for the best,

 A concerned citizen

 Vaishnavi.*

 *Who let the politicians out?*

 *by Vaishnavi Prasad*

 * *

*It's very simple. A military coup, that is. One collective word is all it
needs to convert this nation from a democratic country to a progressive
 economy with martial law.

The armed forces will take over the nation, and no one can do a thing about
it. Not the police force, not Manmohan Singh(=Sonia Gandhi), not A.K.
Antony. No one. A movement will arise so suddenly and with the fury of a
raging tsunami, that it will rewrite India's future, inject discipline in
the blood of every Indian, unscrew unopened bottles of potential and
terrorise the intestines out of those who dare to oppose them or irrigate
the minds of others with vile thoughts. Corruption will be eliminated 90%
and progress will double. Indeed, the souls of our forefathers who fought
for real freedom, will rest whole-heartily under this military control.
 Ironic,

Interesting subject

*The 'Unity' of Muslims/Christians and 'disunity' of Hindus !

**This line is very interesting. You know the Latin Catholic will not enter
to Syrian catholic church, these two will not enter to Marthoma church,
these three will not enter to penthacost church, these four will not enter
to Salvation army church, these five will not enter to 7th day Adventist
church, these six will not enter to orthodox church, these seven will not
enter to Jacobite church, …..like this there are 146 castes in Kerala alone
for Christianity, each will never share their churches for Christians !
Wonderful One Christ, One Bible, One Jehova….What a unity !

Among Muslims, Shia and Sunni kill each other in all the Muslim countries.
The religious riot in Muslim countries is always between these two. The Shia
will not go to Sunni mosque, these two will not go to Ahamadiya mosque,
these three will not go to Sufi mosque, these four will not go to Mujahiddin
mosque….like this it appears there are 13 castes in among Muslims, Killing /
bombing/conquering/ massacring/… each other ! The American attack to the
Muslim land of Iraq is fully supported by all the Muslim countries
surrounding Iraq ! One Allah, One Quran, One Nebi…! Great unity !

For Hindus 1280 books, 10,000 commentaries, more than one lakh sub
commentaries for these foundation books, 330 million gods, variety of
aacharas, thousands of Rishies, hundreds of languages,…still everyone goes
to the SAME TEMPLE…whether unity is for Hindus or in others and never
quarreled each other for the last ten thousand years in the name of religion
