Enthusiastic about mGTD

2010-11-01 Thread Francesco Forti
Hi,
I've started to use mGTD about a couple of months ago, and I'm truly
enthusiastic about it. I thought I wanted you guys know about it. I
had been looking for a (free) GTD system for a while, and I've been
using:

- Outlook based, without any special additional software, just using
properly named folders and categories, but it never worked quite
right, especially since the connection between projects and action had
to be handled by hand.
- Gmail based, using active inbox. Not bad, and I still partially use
it for quick turnaround (couple of days) email actions, but again has
no direct connection between projects and actions, and also it lacks
the ability to edit the existing emails.
- Remember the Milk, not really GTD, and I found it slow and
cumbersome to use

Now that I've started mGTD, I'm pretty happy and still haven't found
any flaw. Documentation is of course lacking (I'm even thinking of
writing something myself), but otherwise it seems to be a wonderful
system, fully integrating projects and actions. The only little
problem I had was about saving files in Firefox. I clicked Deny once
by mistake and it took me sometime to be able to save files again. I
guess it is just a question of improving documentation and error
reporting.

For now,
 ciao

Francesco

What I notice as well is that when I try to import via backstage I get
 the following error
Error getting list of tiddlers, click Cancel to try again

Which browser are you using? Chrome, for example, doesn't allow HTTP
requests off a file URI:

Re: [tw] Re: New update for twYp

2010-11-01 Thread Alex Hough
Tobias,

At first I could not see the use case. I can see that you could now pull
together a collections of YouTube videos very easily and integrate them into
a space.

good work!

 Tobias,

I love your YouTube Search Engine very much - it's really awesome!!
In my TW project I included several Youtube videos manually collected
and aggregated into a kind of playlist tiddlers for certain topics -
like agile methods: eXtreme Programming or Scrum.

 Two issues:
 - Using your search engine it would be really nice to have a tiddler
for showing *all* youtube videos for a certain key word. What I'am
thinking of is the ability to preset the search key word and the
search results are rendered when opening the tiddler.

 - Where do I find the plugin code for the engine? I looked at your
 URL[1] but didn't find it.

 Cheers Michael

I simply *LOVE* that you can play related videos and

I've noticed that as well and love that part of it, too. Not only that
you don't loose the search results... the opposite is also true. You
can watch one video while already searching for the next ...all in one
  and the same interface.

Now if I were to add a queueing meachanism to this, likeyoutube's
quicklist ...or, if you wish, playlists in general ...which you could
save into tiddlers ...maybe with a simple gui to play/pause and go to
the next or previous video or to have it randomly shuffle the list
while autoplaying through the videos ...that would be ouch-like
  awesome ;o)

Videos might simply be added to a quicklist (maybe displayed below the
search interface) by doing a ALT+CLICK on a thumbnail ...while CTRL
+CLICK might allow to open a video'syoutubepage in a new tab instead
of playing it in the tiddler.

Clicking on that quicklist-thumb might then start a somewhat dedicated
playlist mode, starting playback at the clicked tiddler. Doing a CTRL
+CLICK on a tiddler in the quicklist might be used to resort it...
e.g. CTRL+CLICK once to select a video, then CLICK on another to place
it in front of that ...or CLICK on some Recycle Bin to delete it
from a list... one could even have a dropdown with multiple lists to
chose from... and a few buttons to move videos between playlists...
ah, so many ideas, way too many. ;o)

  Cheers,Tobias.

[tw] Re: transclusion: navigationediting question

2010-11-01 Thread roma
Eric,

I have tried your PasteUpPlugin (still in alpha development), - and
found it extreemly useful. I think I have achieved what I wanted to do
with TW, all elegant solutions are with some few plugins. But if I'm
writting, it is to point out what may be you already notice concerning
PasteUpPlugin : some limitation using it with MatchTagPlugin. For
instance :

- TiddlerAx lists some points, as well as TiddlerAx+1, etc.
- TiddlerB gets the points developped by the all the TiddlersA using
transclusion (TiddlerAx##, etc.).
- TiddlerR gets some descriptions of the above tiddlers thanks to
MatchTagPlugin (%5...).

The problem : TiddlerB shows a blank PasteUpPlugin editor as long as
the command is not tiddler TiddlerAx##chapter This limitation
prevents the handy use (for me, for some reasons) of the ##
transclusion syntax.

Anyway, - solution or not in the future, many many thanks Eric for
your wonderful work on a bright concept : TW...
