Why not use a slider?

Look at the examples on Eric's page

and the shorter examples at

http://www.tiddlytools.com/#ToggleSliders

Eric makes use of a much more involved example on his menu in the top
right corner of each of those pages.

Click on any of
goto search file edit view options calendar contents
to see the slider plus a tiddler in action. Take a look 'under the
hood' how he does that.

Re: [tw] Re: TW quick change stylesheets

2014-03-22 Thread skye riquelme
Hi Anton
Thanks for your comments. I am well aware of sliders and us ethem
extensively in my work. However what I am trying to acheive is something
very different. Its not just display hide the contents of a tiddler.
Depending on a students selection I need to change the format of the page,
to suit the way that selection needs to display information and continue
reacting with the student. Note that I am not playing with stylesheets to
make pretty colorful changes to the appearance, like youth changing the
skin on there cellular every second day.

For example, when discussing and planning their projects students need the
full width of their display to present the information. when
researching a new topic they need a part page that can display notes and
images AND a column display of the previously referenced articles on the
relevant topic.when selecting a new line of study, they are presented
with a widish display of options, a popup that shows simple definitions
of that area (that part could be a slider!!!) AND a column list of relevant
references AND a second column of contacts within the course of related
researches.

I cant imagine how sliders can do all thatbut simple changes to
stylesheets can do it easilyexcept that the default stylesheet is not
displaying when the TW opens,

Thnaks for your suggestion...I hadnt disconsidered itI just feel you
didnt understand what I am actually trying to acheive.

Re: [tw] Re: Chrome, white and access control

2014-03-22 Thread skye riquelme
Hi again... not sure why you need to embed the graphic(s). Obviously using
the [img[...link ]] function lets you display and play with a graphic
inside a TW...it is a link to an imageyou can add extra control with
Erics ImageSizePlugin...and he even has a ImageMapPlugin that magically
allow you to create clickable imagessuch as maps... BUT all this uses
links to existing files (...online or offline)links to images not
images embedded...its the embed functions that got stuffed up by these
security questionswhich means that great plugins like LocalDirectory
LaunchApplication, AttachFillePlugin...don1t work anymore - with medern,
updated browser versions.

Actually this brings up a small point. Especially in Erics site there are
many great plugins that used to work, but now dont work (with recent
browser versions)...and it not clear to newcomers which or why..maybe
we need a short note in these tiddlers noting that they have this
limitation/restriction. just a suggestion

Actually, *use* of embedded images still works just fine...
AttachFilePluginFormatters extends the [img[...]] syntax to allow reference
to embedded attachment tiddlers. The problem is in *creating* NEW
attachments, which needs to read *binary* file content from the local
filesystem. That is the part that is blocked by the browser.

However... there IS a way to *manually* create attachment tiddlers

First, take a look at:
   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#AttachFileSample

The format of this tiddler uses standard TiddlyWiki section syntax, like
this:
--
!usage
{{{[img[AttachFileSample]]}}}
!notes
example of encoded data attachment
!type
image/gif
!file
./images/meow.gif
!url
http://www.TiddlyTools.com/images/meow.gif
!data
data:image/gif;base64,R0lGO...
--

The sections are labeled usage, notes, type, file, url, and data

The type section defines the MIME type for the attachement (e.g,
image/gif, image/png, image/jpg)
The file, url and data sections are options, but at least ONE must be
present. The file section is for local filesystem references, the url
section is for remotely stored images, and the data section is for
embedded base64 encoded binary (e.g., the image file contents) To display
the image, AttachFilePluginFormatters first tries the embedded data (if
any), then the local file reference (if not blank), then the remote URL
(again, if not blank). If

You can create your own attachment tiddlers manually by making a copy of
the AttachFileSample tiddler and then hand editing the information it
contains. The only tricky part is generating the base64 encoded image data
itself. There are several easy-to-use base64 image encoder tools online.
Typically, you just upload your image and it returns the encoded text
result. You can then copy/paste that data into the appropriate place in
the attachment tiddler. Note that the data section of the tiddler always
starts with data:image/gif;base64,, followed by the actual data.

Hopefully, this will give you enough to get started... let me know how it
goes.

Whereas I can imagine. Without changing stylesheets.

The thing is to have the stylesheet with the transform already there
under a different #ID and then activate it.

Or make the entries conditional, like this

div[tags~=StudentAnswer].tiddler .viewer   {display: visible; }

I've done something like this in my story writing tiddlywiki when I need
to 'pop-up' the character details and/or append to them

Then use sliders and the HideWhenPlugin.

The HideWhen is misnamed as it is really show when.
It is a VERY powerful plugin. VERY!

The other incredibly powerful plug is TagglyTags.
Well, OK, that shifts some of the matter to defined templates, but it
sounds as if you should be using those anyway, with forms and

FormTiddlerPlugin DataTiddlerPlugin.

I recall Eric also has a plugin which can handle both in-band and
out-of-band notes but I forget its name.

I can see no reason whatever why you should be changing stylehseets.
As far as I can see the limit of what you should be doing is enabling
parts of the more comprehensive stylesheet.

As for the rest, there are macros which hides/unhides (Toggle) the the
sidebar and menubar. If you think about it, the right indent of the
centre panel is defined in the layout stylesheet, so when the right hand
panel vanishes and the centre panel expands to the right, its as if a
new style sheet has been loaded. Only it hasn't. Very ingenious!
