 Another thing is that if you delete the tiddlerformat and save the
tiddler - the deletion won't get saved - unless you've made other changes
to the tiddler content..

I've just fixed this problem and uploaded a new prerelease to
http://tw5test.tiddlyspot.com. If it all looks well I'll release later
today or tomorrow morning,

Best wishes

Jeremy.

 Hi Jeremy

 looking forward to the new version!

 As Jon suggested, I too would find it useful to be able to select a tag
 from the drop-down list using with the up-and-down keys, after typing in a
 few letters
 to reduce the list.
 At the moment, selection via the keyboard is possible only by hitting the
 tab key a *few* times, and this is a bit tedious

Could it be that, if you open a tiddler as a wizard, which is too big, you
can't close it anymore? Try on tiddlywiki.com to open HelloThere with a
wizar-button and the close button will be out of reach. Pressing Esc
doesn't help.

If you drag some html into 5.13 it won't change type to txt/html unless you

When you change type to txt/html and the content is shown in an iframe -
text won't be UTF8 compatible!
Characters like (danish) Æ, ø and å won't be shown correctly..

and is automatically generated in R.

Do you have any suggestions how I can split the table in TW5 so I can
inspect and compare a few number of clusters at the time? Something along
the lines of a Tab but with several active tabs.

I suppose the RevealWidget would be in place here, but as far as I can
tell, I would have to have each cluster as an individual tiddler. With 144
clusters in this table, in maybe more in others, this is something I would
like to avoid. I could probably write some code which would put out the
appropriate HTML and paste this into the tw.html-file, but I find this a
bit messy too.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ulrik

[tw] Re: [TW5] Split long table

2014-06-23 Thread Stephan Hradek
First of all I'd replace the

|::

lines with an empty line.

That way each cluster would be a table of its own.

But that wouldn't help too much, would it?

I'm wondering how you get the automatically generated in R stuff in to
your Wiki.

If it's automatical, it should be not to complicated to change the
generated .tid file (f you do that) to several and have an additional which
merges them.

Or maybe you can put, as you suggested, reveal widgets around each cluster
so that you can enter the names(?) of those clusters you want to see.

Maybe you have some working example to play around with?

[tw] Re: [tw5] SetField Widget and radiobuttons? @matabele

2014-06-23 Thread Måns
Hi Matabele

 I think in your use case you would want a variable as the name of the data
 tiddler -- so references might look something like {{$gender$##gender1}},
 where the variable takes the value 'male' or 'female' as appropriate. I
 think you'll need a macro call to insert the variable before using the
 text-reference as the syntax I've used above won't work (this was for
 illustration only.)

You are absolutely right :-)

I set gender as a field gender to male or female - now I need to retrieve
the result from the correct library..

I tried to do it like this: {{!!gender##gender2b}}

It doesn't seem to be possible to use templates with substitutions as
values either

Sth. like:

index1:Value of {{!!gender##gender2b}} should be Him

Simply:

index2:{{!!title}}

Doesn't show the title when you input it as {{IndexTiddler##index2}}

Does anyone know how to exploit a datalibrary as a library of textsnippets
with substitution markers?

No. You can dragdrop them onto your wiki to get them inserted. So you need
not copypaste some source code after opening a new tiddler, just drop the

 I didn't think about that and its maybe the easier and most obvious
 solution!

 I have a macro that maybe could help you with this. It concatenates the
 result of a list separating them with a provided separator. Since you are
 using the list field maybe this can work with it.

 I currently use the list field and I'm planning to use other list fields

 Let me check if it works and if it does I can release a pre-release of my

 I look forward to seeing your plugin.

 Hello,

 I'm glad to present my third plugin. This corresponds to the next week
 since I will try to deliver just one per week :P

 It has some limitations that I expect anyone could help me to eliminate.

 Description

 This plugin allows you to use keyboard shortcuts for the most common
 wikitext markup.
 Compatibility

 This has been tested with tiddlywiki 5.0.8 and 5.0.9. Since I cant'
 guarantee retro-compatibility It should work with consecutive releases.
 How to install

 Just drag and drop the link below to your own tiddlywiki file.

 KeyboardSnippets
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets
 Usage

 While on a text field just try some key combinations. If you have *text
 selected* it will be enclosed in the text snipped.
 Key combinations

 I already defined the most common shortcuts to wiki syntax. Here is a
 table of what is already available
 Combinationsnippetrenders asctrl+b'' ''*bold*ctrl+i// //*italics*ctrl+u
 __ __*underline*ctrl+s,, ,, subscriptctrl+l*non ordered listctrl+o#ordered
 listctrl+kcodealt+t|| table cellalt+h|!|table headalt+s ~~ ~~strikeout
 Customization

 You can add your own key bindings just editing the file :

 $:/plugins/danielo/keyboardSnippets/KEYBINDINGS
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets%2FKEYBINDINGS
 .
 Adding a new entry

 You have to respect the formatting of the file. *The best way* to add a
 new entry is to copy an existing one and edit it. Every entry has to end in
 },

 The format is one or more key modifiers and a single normal letter in
 lower case.
 Key modifiers

 The supported modifiers are: ctrl shift alt . *To use more than one
 modifier* you have to do it in that order. Example of valid key
 combinations are:

- ctrl+o
- shift+o
- ctrl+shift+o
- ctrl+shift+alt+o

 As invalid combinations you can see

- shift+ctrl+o
- ctrl+alt+shift+o
- o+ctrl

 Removing customizations

 If you mess up with your customizations and you want to restore to
 default just delete the tiddler:

 $:/plugins/danielo/keyboardSnippets/KEYBINDINGS
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets%2FKEYBINDINGS
 .
 Limitations

- HTML markup is not supported for snippets.
- Caret ^ is not supported

 Hope you enjoy it!!

 No. You can dragdrop them onto your wiki to get them inserted. So you
 need not copypaste some source code after opening a new tiddler, just drop
 the file onto your open wiki.

 Hello,

 I'm glad to present my third plugin. This corresponds to the next week
 since I will try to deliver just one per week :P

 It has some limitations that I expect anyone could help me to eliminate.

 Description

 This plugin allows you to use keyboard shortcuts for the most common
 wikitext markup.
 Compatibility

 This has been tested with tiddlywiki 5.0.8 and 5.0.9. Since I cant'
 guarantee retro-compatibility It should work with consecutive releases.
 How to install

 Just drag and drop the link below to your own tiddlywiki file.

 KeyboardSnippets
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets
 Usage

 While on a text field just try some key combinations. If you have *text
 selected* it will be enclosed in the text snipped.
 Key combinations

 I already defined the most common shortcuts to wiki syntax. Here is a
 table of what is already available
 Combinationsnippetrenders asctrl+b'' ''*bold*ctrl+i// //*italics*ctrl+u
 __ __*underline*ctrl+s,, ,, subscriptctrl+l*non ordered listctrl+o#ordered
 listctrl+kcodealt+t|| table cellalt+h|!|table headalt+s ~~ ~~strikeout
 Customization

 You can add your own key bindings just editing the file :

 $:/plugins/danielo/keyboardSnippets/KEYBINDINGS
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets%2FKEYBINDINGS
 .
 Adding a new entry

 You have to respect the formatting of the file. *The best way* to add a
 new entry is to copy an existing one and edit it. Every entry has to end in
 },

 The format is one or more key modifiers and a single normal letter in
 lower case.
 Key modifiers

 The supported modifiers are: ctrl shift alt . *To use more than one
 modifier* you have to do it in that order. Example of valid key
 combinations are:

- ctrl+o
- shift+o
- ctrl+shift+o
- ctrl+shift+alt+o

 As invalid combinations you can see

- shift+ctrl+o
- ctrl+alt+shift+o
- o+ctrl

 Removing customizations

 If you mess up with your customizations and you want to restore to
 default just delete the tiddler:

 $:/plugins/danielo/keyboardSnippets/KEYBINDINGS
 http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fdanielo%2FkeyboardSnippets%2FKEYBINDINGS
 .
 Limitations

- HTML markup is not supported for snippets.
- Caret ^ is not supported

 Hope you enjoy it!!

You can see the results here:

It is not finished, and I'm waiting for 5.0.13 to use the filter operator

The plan is to release something that everyone can use to organize

the buttons no longer do, with the exception of the advanced search button,

TiddlyFox seems to be installed in the FF add-ons.

Opera (22.0) funstions similarly, except that clicking the buttons makes

[tw] [TW5] Node.js vs. single HTML

2014-06-23 Thread Ulrik Stervbo
Hello list,

What are the advantages of running the tiddlywiki as a node.js app rather
than a single file? Other than the wiki is being run as a server and can be
accessed from outside.

Are there any performance advantages? I am particularly thinking about
memory usage: are the tid-files in the node.js read as needed or are they
all read in at start up, making it not much different from the single HTML
file variant?

I am interested, because it seems I will be generating a large file - for
now it is just 3mb, but when I add some long tables, it may become close to
10mb. And I will keep adding. I have seen posts that tiddlywiki starts to
slow down dramatically at some point (20mb if my memory serves me well). Is
there any way to avoid that?

Thanks for any comments.

Cheers,
Ulrik

/*

/*{{{*/
@media print {

#backstageArea {display: none !important;}
#displayArea {margin: 1em 1em 0em;}
noscript {display:none;} /* Fixes a feature in Firefox 1.5.0.2 where

.tagged {margin:0.5em; } .tagged li, .tagged ul { display:inline; }
.tagging {margin:0.5em; } .tagging li, .tagging ul { display:inline; }
}
/*}}}*/

with all of the rest v2.6.5 standard (i.e. shadowed).

I know that StyleSheet is being used because the tag insets are all
horizontal, as I want them, so it must be something else.

It sounds like you are building the standalone HTML file including the
tiddlyweb plugin; that causes TW to try to talk to the server at startup,
hence the 404s. The answer is to build the wiki without the tiddlyweb
plugin (ie, edit tiddlywiki.info to remove the reference to it).

[tw] [TW5] Hosting my own on Ubuntu box - a guide?

2014-06-23 Thread Kevin Muncie
The moment I came across TW5 I was excited about the possibilities of
having my own to build and store information. I am beginning to learn how
to manage my own server with a Digital Ocean droplet running Ubuntu 14.04.
I currently have it setup with nginx and iptables serving a couple small
static sites I am playing around with.

*I would like to getting my own TW5 instance running on this box that I can
then access from a domain name and manage from anywhere and keep backed
up. *

*Is this currently a feasible thing to do? Are there any comprehensive
guides to doing it?*

Or am I really overdoing things and I should keep it simple with
Drive/Dropbox syncing?

I have node.js and tiddlywiki installed, I can start a server but not sure
how to make it publicly visible.

Sorry if these are all very basic questions, I did a little searching
through the group but did not find anything really basic enough.

Thanks for your time!

[tw] [TWC] Is it possible to use GridPlugin with numeric slices names?

2014-06-23 Thread Mark Booth
I have a database of characters, and I'm using slices to store
background information grouped by year.

Using GridPlugin I've built a simple grid which shows a 5 year block.
The idea is that each column shows one year of the 5, and each row is a
person who had something happen in one of those 5 years (see tiddlers at
the end of this post).

Eventually, there should be four of these grids, showing 20 or so years
of background, with each block of five years only showing characters
appearing in that period.

So far, I have two problems though.

Firstly, the column names are missing from the header, and I'm not sure
if it is something to do with the names I'm using that causes them to be
missing, so are there any hidden restrictions on slice names in
TiddlyWiki classic v2.6.5 or GridPlugin 2.0.7?

This may be related to the fact that the hide/show headers toggle does
nothing to example grids at http://www.tiddlytools.com/#GridPluginInfo
with Firefox 30.0.

The next problem is that even without the 'all' modifier, my grid is
currently showing everyone, even those characters who had no activities
in any of the years selected.

I can't see what I'm doing wrong here, so any help would be appreciated.

If it makes any difference, these ExampleDatabase tiddlers also have
FormTiddler and DataTiddler sections.

Alternatively, is there any other way to do what I'm after, or something
similar.

I was thinking that one option might be to create a forEachTiddler per
year, and render this as a list , grouped by year, rather than as a
table, but I can't see how I would do this as a single forEach or how I
might go about nesting one forEach inside another to do this in one go.

Again, any help would be gratefully received,

 Would it be sufficient to use:

 And to define in a CSS tiddler (tagged with $:/tags/stylesheet) a class

Re: [tw] [TWC] Is it possible to use GridPlugin with numeric slices names?

2014-06-23 Thread Keith Buckner
... the column names are missing from the header,...

I added the colorblue to this line. to get the column names to show. I
believe the existing one worked fine on tiddlytools.com, with the light
text on dark background, but wasn't visible with dark test on light
background.

gridStyles: '.viewer .grid thead td, .grid thead td {
color:blue;background:transparent; }',
