Hi Tobias,

could you explain the meaning of the term “reference” to me?
Me too, I have ideas to develop the concept a bit further and add one or two
pieces.

Have a nice weekend!

I thought about this too, but then again it solves only half the puzzle. ;-)
The other piece to the puzzle would be to reference a numbered item,
however, not by its number.

Hi Steve,
My example for TextStretch here shows how to use CSS to number elements
within a single tiddler or throughout the story river:
http://tid.li/tw5/hacks.html#TextStretch%20Variant%20Footnote

With this concept you/she could place a neutral marker <> in the
text. The numbers would be calculated according to the CSS rules by the
browser when the page is rendered. Hope you will love this too ;–)

Good luck!

Well, then, ok! And yes, footnotes would be another use. Generally, any
kind of sequential numbering within (and, presumably, within transcluded)
tiddlers...

And I promise I'll love it :)

Do you have an example (image or other) that show what you want?

How do you mean dynamic?

In any case, you could use numbered lists like so:

#

content 1

#

content 2

#

content 3

[tw] Numbering Sequential Objects Within a Tiddler

2016-10-28 Thread stevesuny
Hi folks,
I'm working with a colleague to introduce TiddlyWiki as a possible platform
on which to create notes for her lectures in Mathematics. For example, see
https://zmath.updog.co/De-demo.html, tiddler [[Lecture Reduction of order]].

My question: how can she number her equations within a tiddler, so that the
familiar Equation 1, Equation 2, Equation 3 etc. can be shown. This would
have to be dynamic, within a tiddler. The equations themselves can be
transcluded into named (not numbered) tiddlers...

Thanks,

//steve.

[tw] Re: [tw5]find tidderls between two dates

2016-10-28 Thread Tobias Beer
Hi,

I once worked on a filter called *let* and it actually does what you want,
I believe:

http://let.tiddlyspot.com

However, it is deprecated.
Meaning: you can possibly use it, but I won't update it.

I wanted to move the date filtering into a filter of its own, but haven't
done so yet.
Give me a bit to work on and publish a proper *date* filter.

Best wishes,

Hi Shay,

You may want to try these macros. ...
Just drag and drop import the .json file and have a look at the source. ..
Since float left and right need a clearfix, have a look at the .CSS file,

At the moment you'll need to create links: [[link]]. The TWC behaviour was
removed on purpose, since it caused a lot of problems for languages, that
use hyphens a lot. eg: German and others.

There are some thoughts, about implementing a way to configure the TW
parser. But there isn't a good and generic solution yet.

Hi Shay,

Learning by doing, the best way ;-)

Instead of using the @@ syntax, you could add a class="TW-mage" to the .

And if you need different styles for your images, you can add a style to
your macro as well:

\define image (source,caption,style)
...

\end

And I had the ability to add the caption as you can see. But now if I throw
it into the macro, it will give me the same caption each time. What I'm
looking for is something kinda like this:

\define image(source)(caption)

I know the syntex is wrong. How do I tell the macro I need to put in two
"variables" (not sure that's the right term)?

Thanks Tobias

I have read it but must admit that I am a bit confused sometime by the
documentation. Probably is more to do with me but I sometime feel that a
lot is assumed when it comes to the documentation.

I think I will a open a new discussion since it is now diverting from the
original post.

Thansk for the replys

It seems that it is indeed not so simple.

@ Mark S.

I agree. that would be great.

@Rustem
I looked at the days operator and yes it can search a range of dates.
However my problem with it is that it is to cumbersome. If I want to find
tidderls between the 20th of July 2016 and 25th of July 2016 I first have
to figure out how many days ago that was. this makes it not very practical.
If I may propose a modification, this kind of search could be much easier
if you could provide a start date for the search say
[days[-5]start[20160620]]

My use case is: someone ask for everything i have written on a topic (tag)
from a past time period (in my case to see if I had changed our systems
before and error occurred). I would like to be able to make a quick search
for that. Right now it seems that it would be the fastest to find the
manually in the recent tab or export that tag to csv and filter by date.
But it seems suboptimal for the great tool of TW.

Re: [tw] Re: Hidden Admin - and - Landing Tiddlers

2016-10-28 Thread Jeremy Ruston
On this topic, another approach that may bear investigation is to extend the
encryption mechanism such that there are two blobs of encrypted tiddlers: call
them “admin" and “user”. If the user enters the “user” password, then they’d
only be able to decrypt the “user” tiddlers, and wouldn’t be able to access the
admin tiddlers. If the user enters the “admin” password then they’d be able to
decrypt the block of admin tiddlers, which would also contain the password for
unlocking the ordinary “user” tiddlers.

Exploring arrangements like that would need two things: a modified save
template with the two encrypted blocks, and adjustments to the browser
decryption code in boot.js.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

And making the icons appear may not be possible on touch screens, I haven't

[tw] Re: Hidden Admin - and - Landing Tiddlers

2016-10-28 Thread Jed Carty
I think that this may be one place where url parameters could be used. We
could use the work I did before I started twederation that made a wiki boot
differently based on url parameters to make it unpack an admin plugin if
you give it the correct url. I don't think it would be secure since the url
is sent unencrypted, but it would be more than just showing or hiding
something using css. Although the url fragement (I think that is the name,
the bit after #) may not be sent to a server at all so that may not make a
difference.

The way I was experimenting with an admin interface on a public wiki is
here, if you change to the resume editor using the icons in the upper right
corner then hover near the bottom left corner in that view two icons appear
that let you turn on editing. So in the two viewing modes you can't edit
anything, but in the resume viewing mode you can turn on the ability to
edit the wiki normally if you know where to look. Once again, it isn't
secure but it isn't something that many people would stumble onto.

Yeah, like usual in TW, it's all in one file and it's not encrypted so it's
basically a matter of "hide vs show", not completely protecting.

I have vague ideas to incorporate it into
http://publicsidebar.tiddlyspot.com/

Overall, TW definitely needs a different appearance for a normal public
viewing vs private/admin/tw-knowledgeable viewing.

Hey, that's pretty impressive!

BTW, a quick search for "javascript icon generator" and "javascript svg
icon tool" etc seems to provide some solutions, possibly worth looking at
for anyone more interested in the matter. (I also found this
to make your own avatar. Fun stuff.)
