Thanks Tony.
I will take a look.
My own opinion is to use a subset from one of the well established frameworks.
So by now w3.css, Pure CSS and bootstrap are candidates

Re: [tw5] Re: Presenting NoteSlam

2018-06-11 Thread David Gifford
Hi Mohammad

1) A version of the outline without the plusses is in the tiddler

Printable table of contents

(Make sure to have a look at the Noteslam tab for more instructions like
that)

2) I designed Noteslam as a personal tool not as something to use to share
with others. Feel free to adapt it as you please for sharing things with
'final users'.

To be honest, I get disenchanted with the original Noteslam the same day I
created it. Long tiddler entries and too many levels of indenting mean it
doesn't fit in the sidebar. Also, I wanted a way to format outline entry
text by color, etc. So I created this:
http://giffmex.org/noteslam/noteslam.online.mine.html. It requires an extra
step for each entry (paste the title into the caption field and possibly
format it). It also means ordering is by title but what is displayed is the
caption field, so items can be displayed in something other than
alphabetical order without resorting to 01. or other tricks.

Re: [tw5] Re: TiddlyWiki Focused Designer areas - Please contribute

2018-06-11 Thread TonyM
Ah ha,

I think TiddlyWiki can offer so much more than traditional CMS's like
WordPress, especially if you want to add logic and processes, but I also
think the integration of the two would be valuable.

I wonder if we could get tiddlywiki to use the same MySql database for
tiddlers, and thus leverage the wordpress user model.

Ciao Jeremy

Right. Emergent meaning is a solid thing. That sense of "something" you
can't quite get yet but you know is real. Its an area where decent software
design enables "liminal recording" ... i.e. you make a note about something
as yet vague. Vague but felt. Later you can fill in the gaps.

David!
After you finalize your outline, is it possible to have a checkbox or some
setting to hide the plus sign?
Also it is good to prevent editing to final user!

Mark,
Is there any simple way to turn off or hide the textbox and create child
button at the bottom at the end?
As you recommended, NoteSlam is more specific for TOC and outliner, but
your code is great to have several
small but related texts (like turorial, instruction, ...) in the same TW.

Thank you

It echoes one of the revolutionary qualities of hypertext (and wikis in
particular): one can link to tiddlers before they exist, causing the reference
to be italicised, and the missing tiddler to appear in the “Missing” list in
the sidebar. For some writing tasks, one can use the “Missing” list as a

I'm giving up that approach as Dave already gave me a beating for
irritating him :-)

The POINT of this thread is to suggest nice things that do NOT exist. It is
not so easy without any pointers to something that DOES exist.

*I* liked ONE sentence with a FAKE revelation.

I'm gonna divide it in future between IDEA and Resource. So that you can
see the TW does NOT YET exist.

I'm not so sure it will work, but its fairer.

got it. agreed. sort of.

I mean it IS a PITA to refer to a TW not existing. I should probably not do
that.

BUT the point is they haven't been written yet.

SHOULD my approach be to not point to anything?

In which case why bother?

Maybe I could do it a different way? Statement then resource. Slightly
breaks the idea of having one sentence ... but perhaps sensible. To avoid
frustration such as yours?

Please don't put 'suggested TiddlyWiki' and then post stuff that are not
TiddlyWikis. You make me dig through needlessly to see if they are
TiddlyWikis I should add to the toolmap. I was looking forward to seeing a
TiddlyWiki on the sociology of potatoes...

That was just a simple web scrape and Macro to break everything up into
common DIVs to be added to the file. Then a quick categorisation based on
info from the British Wool Board. Probably took me about 30 mins tops. The
idea came from the suggests list, probably as a joke entry. Either way, I
was bored at the time, and thought I'd give it a shot. I just used my
standard "empty" TWC, which is why it has a shed load of Plugins that
really aren't used.

It's not a working Wiki. Just use it as a basis for something else.

Ha! Interesting you chose to iframe (http://paws.tiddlyspot.com/) of a TW

[tw5] Re: CSS Framework - need your advises your idea / comments

2018-06-11 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
You may want to look at Thomas Elmiger's BRICKS. Its a TW for assisting
development of CSS for TW. Its advantage is Thomas went through all the
"classes" and organised them in a way that substantially reduces complexity
in CSS development for TW.

You need to be aware that some CSS styling in TW is "dynamic" and involves
wiki text. Bricks explains a little about that and how to ensure it works
correctly. Once you have a nice design in it you can generate a stylesheet
for use in other TW and export it.

FWIW, if you decide to use Bricks it may be best to download and use the
whole TW, NOT add the plugin to another TW. The reason is the update of
styling is dynamic and can get confusing is you mix it in with other style
systems. Its a design "package."
