Alex,

There are solutions for view toolbat and edittool bars floating or remaining in
place while you scroll. I will try and find it when I return to my computer

Does that sound like a solution

[tw5] Re: flexbox in TW

2018-08-25 Thread TonyM
Mohammad et al

I am fairly sure flexbox not specificaly used in tiddlywiki but html works
nativly out of the box in most cases where you do not need javascript, but as
far as I can see css has little or no limitations in tiddlywiki than cant be
solved with a tiddler tagged as a stylesheet.

I think flexbox is a css only solution so should work within the constraints of
the page or within tiddlers.

You really don't want input from someone who labels their "nuts n bolts"

Hookah Haze (UI)
abracadabra
hoodoo

Skunkworks

that last one is the ToC subheader for failed experiments *g,d*

I do think that "Gifford's List" has really proved the point that
*centralised* effort is needed to harvest and administer the several
hundred TW resources he's listed already. His TiddlyToolmap effort has
brought together things I was only vaguely aware of and others I had no
idea existed. It shows that its important to have a central listing.

I would like he was NOT the only person lumbered with the job.

The ControlPanel -> Appearance -> Theme Tweaks -> Sticky Headers is what
you look for, but it's a bit buggy: turn it on, create a new, empty
tiddler, save it and open the drop-down menu of it: the floating header
below the empty tiddler overlaps the menu items. I checked the Z-indexes,
it seems that everything is OK, but the bug is exists for unknown reasons.
I tried on Chrome (Vivaldi).

[tw5] Get organized with FilteredTag: filter by multiple tags, filter tags by search entry

2018-08-25 Thread bimlas
I just made a plugin (?) to navigate easily in TiddlyWiki by selecting
multiple tags at once, filtering the tag list by search entry. Give it a
try
at
https://bimlas.gitlab.io/#Filter%20by%20multiple%20tags%20easily%3A%20FilteredTag%20example

I have some question to improve it:

- Clicking on tag opens the list of tiddlers -> clicking in search field
without closing this causing problems (try out): how should I close the
tag's popup list when the user clicks outside of it?
- Should I distribute the plugin in a standalone TiddlyWiki instance
("empty edition") or keeping in my wiki is enough?
- Should I send a pull request to GitHub or what is the proper way to
advertise my stuff?
- What's the proper name of this kind of plugin (it's not a Javascript
plugin, but a... what?)

Re: [tw5] Re: Twitter News -- Short Discussion of Logo

2018-08-25 Thread bimlas
I don't mind about the logo but if I had to choose an image which
represents the philosophy of TiddlyWiki, then I would vote to these:

-
http://blogs.cardenalcisneros.es/childrenslit2016/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/box.jpg

The box from The Little Prince: it contains anything what you imagine, as a
tiddler does.

This game reminds me to Tiddly, because it has nodes which are connected in
numerous ways.

Thank, Jeremy! I was sure that this is a bug, but didn't know that it's
already fixed.

This thread has been interesting & helpful.

Whilst "the cat" remains the current moniker for TW several issues arose
relevant to future design ...

1 - Should the image *in some way be more tightly connect to the intent?*
Personally I thought John Newell's posts, starting at
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/tiddlywiki/el52HKBX0Uc/R0S_-gQKAgAJ, were
in that ballpark. John works commercially with promoting TW. He points to
some kind of logo that illustrates that TW could be centred on a central
function of combining "bits into wholes."

2 - *Should the image be an animal?* Why? I love cats so I do like the
IMAGE. But, longer term, is it a fit? I mean does a young cat visually
express characteristics of TW? If its an animal I get a sense more of the
Chameleon than either fish or cat.

3 - Adam Sherpard's fish
 is an
excellent proto-design (albeit I was the one saying "fish are too long")
showing what a good designer can do. The conceptual problem IMO is that
"fish is TW come in shoals", not singular. Tiddlers I don't think make
sense alone (here I'm reverting to point 1.)

Good visual design takes time. Its not the image per se that is usually
most of the work. Its clarifying *what one needs to represent*.

Best wishes
Josiah

Re: [tw5] Re: transclude widget

2018-08-25 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Mohammad

You can use CSS transforms to manipulate the visual appearance of DOM elements.
For example:

<$transclude tiddler="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate"/>

<$transclude tiddler="$:/core/ui/TagTemplate"/>

<$transclude tiddler="HelloThere"/>

See https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/transform
 for the details

Best wishes

Great idea. It would be terrific to make a clearer path for designers to
contribute to the project.

Re: [tw5] There is no default MIME type for tiddlers (needed by Excise tool)?

2018-08-25 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Bimlas

The problem with the “excise” tool not appearing when the tiddler type is set
to “text/vnd.tiddlywiki” is a bug. It’s fixed for 5.1.18 here:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/commit/c72e4f01f1a3051e169593a217bffab8eec279f6

Best wishes

Jeremy.
