[tw5] Re: Tiddlywiki, Seafile and the iPhone

2018-08-27 Thread AltugOz
Hi Willy,

Thanks for sharing. I just wanted to confirm that TW and Seafile generally
play nicely together on Android as well. I previously used the android app
Andtidwiki with the Seafile
client. When you mark a tiddlywiki file as favorite in the Seafile client
it will save back the changes made to it by Andtidwiki. This setup has
worked quite well for me, but I also recently started exploring the webdav
saver with Seafile. As you say it works great. The only problem I have is I
can't save the file more than once unless I reload it in browser. The
second time I try to save, it will give me a "file changed on server"
error. I must accept it is a minor annoyance. I don't know whether you also
have this issue.

Best wishes,
Altug

[tw5] Re: Dory - NodeJS / JavaScript

2018-07-30 Thread AltugOz
Thanks for sharing Arlen. I also find this to be a lot more simpler than
using Termux to use on my android phone. This was actually my go-to
solution when the termux setup got complicated on me (I finally got it
working, but Dory allows you to run Tiddlyserver in the background at
startup, while I couldn't get Termux to do the same without the add-on).

I was going to suggest, maybe it is worth mentioning as an alternative in
your getting started guide for Tiddlyserver under android section.

Best wishes,

Hello TJ,

There is also Neil Griffin's TiddlPy module, The website describes it as an

[tw] Re: TiddlyServer 2.0.6

2017-07-11 Thread AltugOz
Hello Arlen,

Let me be the one of the first in this thread to thank you for your
dedicated work on TiddlyServer 2 and generous efforts to bring it to the
Tiddlywiki community. I have been following the updates and have been
testing it on my laptop and more recently on a linux home server during the
last several days. I have an *almost* working setup and have some questions
that I will post when I got more time in my hand.

I will suffice to say for now that I am considering TiddlyServer as a very
capable alternative to tiddyfox route to access and edit single file wikis
(especially since that option may not work by the same time next year), and
despite my ignorance on all the aspects of a node.js server relating to
Tiddlywiki or not, I can see that this is only a small part of what
TiddlyServer can do. So, thank you! :)

Best,
-Altug

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Core drag-and-drop improvements

2017-03-28 Thread AltugOz
Hi Mat,

I believe what you are describing i.e. pasting an image into the editor window,
can currently be done when editing HTML tiddlers using ckeditor (through the
VisualEditor plugin).

Any pasted image is encoded in base64, embedded within the tiddler and
displayed in the editor window. You can scale it and apply custom styles etc.
What this doesn't do however is to create a separate image tiddler with that
image's content. Still, this workflow works for my purposes as I don't reuse
images within the wiki very often.

Best,
Altug

[tw] Re: [TW5] BJ's VisualEditor Plugin - Syntax Highlighting in Code Snippets Created by CKEditor

2017-03-23 Thread AltugOz
Hi BJ,

Thanks and you are right! That code snippet works. However, this is because
I made a mistake in my original post and somehow got the two code examples
switch places. Sorry, this must have caused a lot of confusion. The html
generated by ckeditor is the other one:

import base64
with open("t.png", "rb") as imageFile:
   str = base64.b64encode(imageFile.read())
   print str

The code snippet you tested was the one generated by highlight.js, which
works as expected.

So, the issue remains. There is currently no way that I am aware of, in
which one can edit text in ckeditor that will also show up with syntax
highlighting in the rendered tiddler.

I understand that this is inherently due to the way ckeditor generates the
html using its codesnippet add-on and has nothing to do with VisualEditor
plugin. So, maybe we are out of luck in this case.

Still I am very interested to know if there is another way to markup text
in ckeditor (i.e. not using its code snippet add-on) that will show up as a
syntax highlighted code snippet in Tiddlywiki, hopefully without jumping
through too many hoops.

Best,

Altug

P.S. For completeness, I fix the description of problem in my original post
as follows:

---
... I attached two screenshots, one with ckeditor 'editor view' and one
with the rendered view of the resulting tiddler. Here are my observations:

1. Using ckeditor's codesnippet add-on: Syntax highlighting *works* in edit
view, but doesn't show up in the resulting tiddler.

2. Code snippet with Wikitext markup and TW5 highlight.js plugin: The
result is verbatim text with some html markup.

Here is the html source generated by case 1 i.e. using ckeditor and its
codesnippet add-on:

import base64
with open("t.png", "rb") as imageFile:
   str = base64.b64encode(imageFile.read())
   print str

in comparison to what is generated using TW5 highlight.js plugin (in a
separate tiddler where syntax highlighting works):
with open(
"t.png", "rb") as imageFile:
   str = base64.b64encode(imageFile.read())
   print str

...
