Unfortunately the plugin makes my wiki super slow so I do not think I can 
use it. I probably need to install the Commander plugin or somesuch and use 
that to search-and-replace the parts I need to.

That's right. Since 5.2.0 it also has a setting, that allows you to define 
a filter, for which tiddlers it is active. So you could say `[tag[xyz]]` in 
the "Target tiddler" filter in the setting of the plugins. The plugin can 
be installed with the ControlPanel.
