Also, Wiki's running under TiddlyDesktop have local file rights, can access 
a local file in the wiki

Just throwing the Timimi browser extension in the ring since it also has 
the ability to launch scripts, although I have not experimented nor had a 
need for it.

You can't do this with a standalone wiki, because the browser won't give 
permission for that action. You could use a server based solution, in 
particular Bob , to launch a script 
that could send that information back to you.
