[time-nuts] Four questions on Datum PRS-50
Hello and Happy new year to all list members. I have four questions regarding a Datum PRS-50: 1 - Is it similar to another Datum Cesium like the FTS 4060 or another FTS series Cesium ? 2 - Is there a list of commands and the data the with get out of the RS-232 port, which port (front or back ) should I use, and what are the COM parameters (baud rate, parity, etc) ? 3 - I checked on the web and found no manual (service or users) and no trace of the software use to control the unit. If someone has it and want to share, I would appreciate. 4 - I'm getting this unit from a friend as is, and I don't know if it is working or not. What would be a fair offer, I don't know the going price on these or how common are they. Thank you ! Supposedly the boards that I am having them do for another project should be here today and I can verify their quality. I also laid out a 20 pin extender to connect the input board to the front panel, but I don't think those would be too useful. You can extend the other side of the input board/front panel using a 36 pin extender. A while back I had the idea of doing a replacement board for the custom HP input comparator chips that fry is you overload the 5370 inputs. Need to start looking at what that would take... there are two different versions of that chip/input board. The replacement could be for just the chip or the complete input board. -- Approx how long should they be ready to ship after you decide to proceed with the order? ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there. -- Message: 2 Date: Fri, 15 Aug 2014 01:06:25 + From: Mark Simshol...@hotmail.com To: time-nuts@febo.comtime-nuts@febo.com Subject: [time-nuts] HP5370 extender cards? I'm leaning towards a 3 card set as the standard. Two of the 36 pin extenders and one of the 44 pin. There are a couple of other misc boards in the machine with different pin counts (oscillator, oscillator power, oscillator buffer) but those three should be able to handle most of the work. If you really needed to extend the 30 pin oscillator or buffer cards, you could hack up a 36 pin card. I got my other projects' boards in from China today. They look good. Now to get the TM500 and 5370 boards on order. -- ___ time-nuts mailing list time-nuts@febo.com https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts End of time-nuts Digest, Vol 121, Issue 40 ** ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
[time-nuts] RE Subs for 74AC175 DIP in PIC-TIC
Hello Eric. I have three 74ACT175 if that can be usefull. If you want them, just email me your postal address off-list, you will only have to paypal me the shipping charge. Claude I located a supply of 74AC175PC for $2 USD at qty 100. I still need 2 of them to finish off all of my PICTIC II's (I have 3 completed). Are there still some available from people willing to part with some? or is there enough interest in that I could distribute enough of them to list members at cost to make an order worth while? -Eric On Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 10:37 AM, Attila Kinaliatt...@kinali.ch wrote: On Mon, 12 Dec 2011 09:42:14 -0800 Chris Albertsonalbertson.ch...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks. The findchips.com suggestion was good. Seems the 74AC part really is not available but there is a CD74ACxxx part that looks good. The CD at the front just means it's from TI instead someone else. The parts are the same. The problem is, the PCB is already made so it is hard to adapt the design to other parts. If I were designing from scratch I'd only select parts that were stocked in high volume by most distributers Not really. Using SMD parts instead of DIL is easy to do. They have the same pinout, just half the size. So a little bit of glue, a few wires and a steady hand are all that is needed to fit one of those in. Alternatively, there are break out boards from SOP/SSOP/SOIC to DIL (but they cost more than it's worth) Attila Kinali -- Why does it take years to find the answers to the questions one should have asked long ago? ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there. -- --Eric _ Eric Garner ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there. ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
[time-nuts] Loran DX and Austron 2100
Hello everybody. Does anyone on the northern east coast has been sucessfull in receiving European Loran C chains ? I'm located around Montreal, Québec. If so, what type of antennas you used ? [time-nuts] PIC-TIC boards
Hello ! I know I'm a bit late, but is it still possible to order three boards, and have shipped to Canada ? I can program my own PIC's and have access to 74ACT175. Also, I would be willing to program chips for other Time Nuts if it can help someone. Thanks ! [time-nuts] HP 58516A GPS distribution amplifier information - Thank you all
Hello ! I got my unit from a local supplier, it was unused but lacked the data, so thanks to Bjorn (I hope I dindn't mess up his name too much !) for the download link. My unit has option 05 external DC power. So far I had no luck in finding an adapter at a decent price. I would rather not open the unit, so if Bob or Magnus would accept selling what they have on hand, I would be interested. Thanks ! [time-nuts] HP 58516A GPS distribution amplifier information

[time-nuts] Loran C shutdown
Hello ! Before you throw away your Loran Receivers, have you checked what will happen with the Canadian Transmitter Chains ? Would it be possible with better antennas to receive signals from other countries ? Would be interested in hearing your input on these ideas ! Thanks ! [time-nuts] Austron 2100
Hello ! Here is a follow up on my previous thread on the Austron 2100F. After getting the unit I found out that the power supply is dead. I was able to start up the receiver with my lab power supply. It seems to work, but the keyboard bounces terribly, randomly filling the display with the last key pressed. An older thread on that subject pinpoints the 1uF bypass on the display keyboard as the culprit, I will change all the electrolytics and tantalums and will keep you informed if I see an improvement in performance afterwards I will again need your help to finish the repair job: * I bought Brook Clark's manual on CD, but in all flavours of the 2100 the power supply is shown as a black box, without any details. Mine has an SG3524 PWM controller driving a T03 transistor, with a Lambda over voltage protection and a small DC-AC converter for the EL back light. Is there any known schematic of that beast ? I can of course reverse engineer it (after all it is an important part of the fun, isn't it ?) but I would rather avoid the extra work if I can. * If someone is using a 2100 in the north east part of the continent , like New-England, Quebec, etc., what type of antenna should I use ? * On my receiver both sides of the case were damaged, on the right side the handle is broken, and the left one it is bent inward, so much that I'm afraid of breaking it if I try to straighten it. I would be interested in buying either a junker receiver that has a nice case or just the side panels. * What is the general feeling about the disappearance of LORAN-C ? I read some documents, seem that the US coast guard wants to drop the service. Thanks to all ! Hi everybody ! Thanks for your fast answers. If I can resume it is OK to buy the 2100F, but at a bargain price as it may be a really tough job to bring it back to life. [time-nuts] Austron 2100F
Hello ! I'm new to the list and I have been offered an Austron 2100F receiver at a good price. Before jumping in, I have a two questions: * I read that a new version of LORAN may come along soon. Will my old receiver be instantly obsolete as a frequency comparator ? * The receiver is priced reasonably because it needs repair. I diagnosed it as far as I could and found corrosion in the power supply section, but I had to stop as I had no luck finding the manual and schematic, can someone help me ? Thanks for your help !
