Re: [time-nuts] Looking for a Trimble Lassen SK-8 or SK II 5V GPS receiver

Dear Bob,

In case you are looking for replacement, there is clone available for most of
the old Trimble modules (Lassen, IQ, LP) :

receiver

Hi folks,

I went with plan “B” and am no longer looking for relatively recent Lassen
receivers.

The clock using the older Lassen receiver speaks NMEA as well as Trimble
protocols. I’m building a simple ExpressPCB board in the Trimble Lassen form
factor to interface with a variety of more modern receivers. A few gates and a
jumper enabled logic inversion now enable the clock to use most any 5V
integrated antenna/receiver speaking NMEA or Trimble protocols at RS-232 or
CMOS levels.

Also found a pair of Garmin GPS18x LVC 5m on ebay which will be arriving next
week about the time the bare boards get here.

Problem solved, correct date restored!

Many thanks!
Bob L.

2016-02-15 Thread Luc Gaudin
Hello,

The issue was known on the Thunderbold for the older firmware version up to
firmware v3.00.
The product will not report the correct extended GPS week number after the
Feb,13th 2016.
After the rollover to week #860, the thunderbolt will not make position for 2
hours, because the Ephemeris data on the GPS receiver being consider incorrect.
The module will work fine after this 2 hours.

Luc

Re: [time-nuts] WTB: GPS Antenna Splitter

2014-10-17 Thread Luc Gaudin
Hello,
You could find off the shelves units from www.gpssource.com MS22 or MS24.
For standard splitter www.instockwireless.com with the GPS200/201 and
GPS400/401 are interesting.

Pete, I see a ZAPD-30 on the miniCircuits web site. Might those be the models
that you have?
If so, (and assuming that you can find them), how much for a couple?

Thanks,
Dave M

Does anyone in the group have, or can point me to, a low-cost (but
not cheap) 2-port splitter for a GPS antenna? Those on Ebay are

I have two GPSDO units, and have both an older timing antenna and a
new choke ring antenna (Thanks, Pete L). I already have one 2-port
splitter (working well), but my intent is to connect both antennas
through the splitters and a couple coaxial relays so that I can, with
the twist of a switch, allow me to run each GPS from a different
antenna, or both from the same antenna. I would like to gather some
data as to the differences between the two antennas. I know I could
switch the connections manually, but I like the idea of a switch to
sort of automate the connections, and I'd need another splitter
 anyway.

Before I go to the trouble and expense of building upon this idea,
are there any comments as to the value of the project?
 Some questions come to mind:
I'm thinking about mounting both antennas on the same mast, at the
same elevation, just separated by a couple feet. Any problems that I
should be aware of by putting both antennas so close together? Will
that small distance have a noticeable effect when switching a
receiver from one antenna to the other? Will the GPS notice the
difference and want to do another survey?

 Thanks for your comments.
 Dave M

[time-nuts] SMTP with Trimble Thunderbolt-E

2014-09-26 Thread Luc Gaudin
Hello,

I need to have remotely access to Trimble Thunderbolt-E to manage it.
I first sort out the physical (network) parts to get the Serial port out on the
network (unit CSE-H53N from Sollae Systems).
For management I am looking to use SNMP.
Is there any system capable to convert the serial information from the Trimble
Thunderbolt to SNMP ?
Some people are talking about proxy agent.
Is any can help ?

Best regards
