Re: [time-nuts] HP Z3805A internal PSU questions

And as soon as I posted this I found what I was looking for  on KO4BB's
website - I forgot that the z3805 is basically the same as a Z3801.

So the fault finding continues.

cheers

In all

China or does it require a living host for spreading?

Get an ozone generator and put the contaminated gear to some closed
comparment with it. Turn on the generator and let it be for 15
minutes. No more any viruses, bacteria or mold there... so it's easy!

Does it have to be Wifi ?

What about using 315/433MHz or one of the other LIPD bands on an Arduino ?

Re: [time-nuts] HP Z3805A GPS replacement ?

2019-10-16 Thread Tim Tuck

Hi Greg,

Brilliant! - I did not know about the adapter boards that looks like an
excellent solution. I like the idea of substituting an uBlock for its
receiver.

Thanks also for the additional info, I had managed to find some of that
at least :)

After sorting out the 422 to 232 conversion and attaching it to the
house GPS antenna, mine has been able to achieve lock after about 10
minutes and establish correct time and date from its initial time in 2007.

Its been well used with 33,604 hrs on the clock but everything seems to
be OK. LH is keeping an eye on it now.

Its a fortuitous arrival since my house standard, an old Thunderbolt,
has let the smoke out and I cant find the spare Thunderbolt anywhere!

thanks

Tim

Re: [time-nuts] Excellent equipment rack

2019-06-17 Thread Tim Tuck

+1 for Starcase - very nice kit.

Don't forget to checkout the many Pro Audio suppliers who kit out bands
and roadshows with all sorts of interesting racks with wheels and cabinetry.

Locally I've bought open racks from VFM Audio that are reasonably priced
and come with wheels.

[time-nuts] PC time error interesting cause

2018-06-23 Thread Tim Tuck

Hi all,

I have a PC that I use for ham stuff etc. and as part of the normal
build I added NTP keep it on track for the things such as WSPR, JT65 etc.

I also installed the Meinberg Time Monitor to keep an eye on things.
What I found was that over a day of operation, the time would slip
nearly two seconds and sometimes randomly jump forward two seconds or so.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the PC since it was a fresh
install of Windows 7 with minimal applications installed.

What I eventually found was that the "Power Options" item default of
"balanced" was the cause for this PC's time slips. Changing the setting
to "High Performance" stopped the time walking around.

Interestingly I have another PC set to "Balanced" that does not exhibit
this problem.

Has anyone else seen this effect ?

regards

Tim
