mood lighting of the room, just like using Philips Hue bulbs behind your TV.

Or to justify the price ?

How can one have just a bit of confidence in a person who is even
unable to proof read the description of the gizmo he is trying to sell

You can have 12 or 14hr mode, full RGB lighting under the tubes

Of course he meant 24hr mode... he was so lazy to not re-read his
insertion on eBay. Such a person cannot be granted any confidence...

Correcting myself. I only know the guy that makes the tubes and since this
project is on his site, made the assumption that it was his project. It's
not. Apologies for the reduction in SNR.

No, it is because that comes on the $100 nixie tube clock board they are
using to drive the displays. I have the same board with the same
features on my nixie tube clocks. I like setting the LEDs for that cool
purple glow that the old gas VR tubes exhibited.

Years ago, I wrote an "enigma machine" in Atmel AVR code, just for fun.
I'd love to see the relevant details from the Bombe and write up a version in
the AVR.
From a room filling (and heating) contraption of relays and tubes to a tiny
chip.

His skill with the written language isn't great but his products are
beautiful and finished to a very high standard.

People buy them, they're more art pieces than time nut timekeepers.

Definitely. Now, if only the dials rotated to indicate the time instead
of nixie tubes, which didn't exist back then. Hmmm, a GPS receiver, an
arduino, 6 stepper motors ...

The craftsmanship is nice. The price, not so much. ;-)
