I still maintain that if people want another hour in the evening, they can get up an hour earlier. Why do they think they need to change the clocks? Some people just can't deal with reality and need someone else to make their decisions for them. This is really shouldn’t be an issue. Many car manufacturers are leveraging and improving already existing cellular data systems in their cars to provide software and firmware updates over the air. I suspect the issue is more the long supply chain lead times…there is a several year lag between deciding to have a feature and getting the car hardware and software out to the public. Since the borders are political rather than purely geographical, the obvious answer is to put the data in the GPS receiver's map database. It has both the relevant borderlines and the most frequent update strategy. Think the idea is to have the entire west coast from Alaska, BC and all the way down to California on one time zone. What I am not sure is how they incorporate this time change into electronic devices that auto adjust. In Canada apparently DST can be amended at the provincial level. Ongoing right now in BC is to follow what the Yukon is doing and get away from DST, but with trade to our neighbours to the south it's preferable everyone be the same. As I understand Washington and Oregon and I think California are following suit but require congress approval.
