Maybe I'm safe in the good old US of A, but anyplace outside of CA is looking
good.

2012-11-07 Thread Jim Clark
Hi Jeff

French is not required in some areas of the west, such as Alberta, and might
even be seen as a negative factor in some circles. But the weapons could come
in handy and should not cause you any problem with officials given Prime
Minister Harper destroyed the long gun registry set up several years ago.

Take care
Jim

Too late. I've already gotten my stuff packed, the car gassed up, and am ready
to head north. I'm just waiting for the massive influx of Canadians to
Scottsdale and the surrounding area, which usually begins in January. I figure
that, from January to late April, there'll be lots of empty houses in
Saskatchewan and points west just waiting for squatters emigrating from the U.S.

Given that I come from Arizona, where I can easily buy practically any weapon I
want legally at my local Wal-Mart (right now, I'm looking at a "previously
owned" M1 Abrams tank), I figure I can hold off hordes of relaxed and tanned
vacationers when they return in April or May.

Best,
Jeff

P.S. I'm also learning French, just in case it's needed.

Interestingly, some supporters of Romney said (I am told) we should not worry
about a Romney presidency because he really didn't mean all the stuff he said
during the campaign. That was my optimistic outlook ... three cheers for
etch-a-sketch politics!

Stephen Black assured me privately that refugee camps at the borders were set
to take in those of us who had to seek political asylum, but, happily, it seems
your anticipated largesse won't be necessary. Thanks anyhow!!
