Re: [toaster] SMTP Connection Refused
Did not have the clamd.pid file, was not set in the conf file. The permissions are all clamav.clamav in that directory and above, though there is a .dblock file in all the directories that I am not sure about though it is owned by clamav.clamav I am unable to find a clamd.log file ... unless it is writing directly to the syslog. I thought about upgrading clam but everything I have read has stated that it doesn''t play well with the toaster and daemontools. I am experienced enough to compile it from source but just don't want to break anything else. I restarted the server and still was not able to send emails but now I have some more logs to show that maybe the problem: @400049a832ec00bb5314 5363 250 AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 @400049a832ec00d2a7bc 5363 AUTH CRAM-MD5 Is this correct when trying to use vchkpw for smtp? Afters years of service I have decided to build a new server that will handle my email and everything went according to plan when installing but there are a few problems. The main one being I am unable to send email from my mail client, I have not tested webmail as I don't use that all that much but SMTP connections are a must. When I try to send email I get that the connection has been temporarily refused Error #4.0.3. I have done some troubleshooting and searching in this archive and on the web and cannot find anything that will fix this problem. Here are some log Snippets Looking at these snippets I'd say there was something wrong with clamd Ensure that /usr/local/share/clamav and below are set to clamav.clamav assuming clamd is running under daemontools Check the clamd logs stop the clamd service, svc -d /service/clamd check that there is no existing pidfile, /var/run/clamd/clamd.pid (if you have that set in clamav.conf) Start the service svc -u /service/clamd Check the clamd logs again Check the smtpd logs too and it won't hurt to restart that too Run freshclam and look at the ouput in freshclam.log, is it reloading clamd? You just dont need the patches anymore and some of the config file options have changed a bit so you need to edit a few options.

DOH!, should have thought of that one. I am able to connect, however, telnet reports the old server's host name when I do. What do I need to change to make it work? With the exception of the rcpthosts under /var/qmail/* I changed the other instances to the correct name. Re: [toaster] SMTP: connection refused -- after migration of data from another server
Well, I re-installed the qmail portion of the toaster, and now the correct name shows up when I telnet into the box, however, the problem still persists. The /var/log/qmail/smtpd/current file still shows a connection refused. Interestingly the /var/log/qmail/current file shows this: Sorry._Although_I'm_listed_as_a_best-preference_MX_or_A_for_that_host,/it_isn't_in_my_control/locals_file,_so_I_don't_treat_it_as_local._(#5.4.6)/ As far as I can tell everything looks right, but I could use some help to double-check.
