Apache Directory naming component

2005-01-09 Thread Phil Steitz
About 18 months ago (mid 2003), we extracted the in-memory JNDI provider
from jakarta-tomcat-catalina and started a Jakarta Commons naming
component. That component has moved to the Apache Directory project in
the apache incubator . The
naming component's web page is here:
http://incubator.apache.org/directory/subprojects/naming/index.html
We are preparing to release a "technology preview" 0.8 version of
[naming] from the incubator and would like to ask the tomcat community
for feedback and also to consider using the component. A release
candidate is available here:
http://www.apache.org/~psteitz/naming/
Enhancements and bug fixes in the tomcat code since the code was
extracted have been applied, the jar packaging follows tomcat 5 and no
dependencies have been added to the core components. See
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRNAMING-10 for details on changes
to the tomcat classes.
The main addition to the tomcat code is an XmlConfigurator that enables
a JNDI context to be initialized outside of a container, using an xml
configuration file.
Any comments, suggestions for improvment, or volunteers to help test or
integrate with tomcat would be most welcome. Comments should be directed to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks!
Phil

That would be fine, but the documentation should state that then. I think I'm
not the only person who would put spaces around the '=' in a properties file.

filter and session in differents webapps

2005-01-09 Thread Kieu Huu Dung
Hi everyone,

We have a web site using Tomat 5.0.28, and about 10
webapps (developped by different programmers).

I'm in webmaster role, want to use a filter for all
these webapps. In my filter, I want to retrieve the
session object, code is like following :

HttpServletRequest hrequest = (HttpServletRequest)
request; // request is ServletRequest

HttpSession session = hrequest.getSession(); // 2

String sessionId = session.getId(); //3

The problem is after line 2 for each webapp, another
session object is created. So I can share infos about
session between many webapps.
(The sessionID returned from line 3, is diffrent in
different webapps
Our site use Realm with MySQL db for authentication).

Now I would like all my webapps work with only one
session object, but I can't configure it (sessionID is
the same, attributes are also the same)

Any idea is welcome.

Thanks,

KIEU.

My opinion didn't change, sorry ;)
Since noone else ever requested the feature, I think it would be merely bloat,
so I don't see the point.

Now that the Ant zip classes have found a new home in the Jakarta Commons
Compress module, I'd ask to rethink this bug.

I vote in favor of doing the complete integration right now. Worst
case it's as bad as the current code, which isn't exactly well tested
in the 5.5 branch ;)
