RE: [OT] Feedback on Java?
This doesn't answer your question but may solve your problem anyway: As an alternative to adding a method, you could use an existing method to accomplish the same functionality: // Get remaining string in tokenizer by using no delimiters. String remainingString = tokenizer.nextToken(); Glenn. -Original Message- From: Deacon Marcus [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2001 8:44 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [OT] Feedback on Java? Hi, If someone have some suggestions concerning general improvements on Java standard classes (java.lang.*, java.util.* for example) what's the best way to contact right people to include (or not...) it in next version? Anyone here did something like that successfully? Example: I needed a class like StringTokenizer which allows to get the remaining part of the processed String, i.e. forger delimeters and return from current position to String's end. I ended up butchering StringTokenizer's source and adding getRemaining() to subclass otherwise identical (since everything was private I had to duplicate every line, which technically is (c) infringment afair) - no big deal, took less than an hour including testing, but it's pretty strange noone thought about including something so basic from v. 1.0 to 1.4. RE: Different approach to TC as a service (was: Separating Service code from Tomcat 4.0)
Not a safe assumption. My company is using Tomcat in standalone mode within a large project. -Original Message- From: Andy Armstrong [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] [snip] It would be easy enough to add the same functionality to the other connectors. This is a simple solution for all platforms in all cases except the one where you want to have Tomcat autostart in stand-alone mode, and I would assume that that's a relatively rare requirement. If there's interest I can investigate adding the same functionality to the other connectors. -- Andy Armstrong, Tagish

Yes. With a patch applied to avoid the NT Logout snafu that causes the VM to shutdown. Glenn. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] One question - is anyone using the jk_service ( the NT service starter that is included with tomcat3.x ) ? Costin
RE: Tools.jar
Title: Tools.jar Eitan, I don't think that tools.jar is needed for "normal activity". We redistribute Tomcat with the JRE and don't have any issues. If you need tools.jar to compile JSPs, try pre-compiling them and distributing the resulting .class files with your product. If this is not an option, well...
