 Subject: [4.0.2] [VOTE] Final release

 Hi,

I'd like to propose to release the current code in the 4.0
 branch as Tomcat
 4.0.2 Final.
This release includes lots of bugfixes and improvements,
 especially in the
connectors area, which feature a dramatic improvement over what was
available in Tomcat 4.0.1 (this alone justifies making a
 release IMO, given
the amount of problems people are experiencing with the
 versions packaged in
 Tomcat 4.0.1).

The remaining should-fix bugs resolution will be postponed
 until a later
release. None of them were regression problems.

 The jakarta-tomcat and jakarta-tomcat-connectors repositories
 will be tagged
 with tomcat_402. The tomcat-warp / tomcat-util / warp source will be
synced with the sources in the jakarta-tomcat-connectors repository.

The binaries will be packaged and be made available for
 verification by
other committers this week-end, and the release announcement
 will be posted
early next week (Monday seems appropriate).
As discussed yesterday, the binaries will include a minimal
 distribution
designed to be run on JDK 1.4.

I'll help more on the connector side, of course ( so it's +0.6 ).

As discussed yesterday, the binaries will include a minimal
distribution
designed to be run on JDK 1.4.

I miss the discussion of yesterday, sorry.
Did it means that the build won't require jndi/jdbcext/javamail/jaf
that caused me so many headaches in RPM packaging ?

+0.4, usual RPM packaging, mod_jk binaries for Linux
STD/EAPI (may be also Apache 2.0 mod_jk)

The build doesn't require that, unless you use the full.dist option (which
forces building everything, to prevent the release manager from releasing
incomplete builds ;-)).

JNDI is the only API you mentioned that is required (but it's included in
JDK 1.3+, and you dont need the JAR).

+0.4, usual RPM packaging, mod_jk binaries for Linux
 STD/EAPI (may be also Apache 2.0 mod_jk)

That's impressive. You guys have some precise metrics to quantify the help
you provide ;-)

Excellent since we have now a true OSS Tomcat 4 distrib.
Thanks boys

Yep, and I notice a little error which need adjustements

+0.4 turn to +0.44 since I will do also mod_webapp rpms :)
