RE: Binary Dist. tomcat 4.01 Win32 can't find jdk on installation
Also beware of any spaces that might be introduced into the directory path structure. Once I eliminated the spaces in folder names, that seemed to help. Sincerely, Michael L. When I try to install jakarta-tomcat-4_0_1.exe on my server I receive this error message: Couldn't find a Java Development Kit installed on this computer. Please download on from http://java.sun.com; This is strange, because there is a jdk installed (how else could JRun be running on the server)? The same happened on my development machine. First I thought, that might be because I have JDK 1.4.0 on my dev machine. But obviously the reason is something else. Can anybody help me? What is the installation procedure's criteria for a jdk? Runs briefly then quits
Hi, I'm fairly new at this so please forgive me. I've been scouring the mail archives and haven't found my solution. I'm trying to understand and troubleshoot why my Tomcat server stops serving after the initial access. My setup is: W2K sp2, IE 5.5, Apache 1.3, and Tomcat 4.01 with the NT Service running. When I initially load the standard startup page for Tomcat, http://127.0.0.1:8080/index.html , that runs, as well as any links beneath. Then, after about 20 seconds, everything comes to a standstill. I also have an older version of Tomcat, 3.3, that I start manually and will run my JSP pages fine. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot and fix this? Sincerely, Michael L. RE: Runs briefly then quits
Hi, I did look at the logs and saw nothing, but that doesn't mean anything :). Yes, apache is running successfully. I've attached the Tomcat Logs in a zip archive for viewing. Apache is running on Port 80 and Tomcat on 8080. Thanks for your assistance. Sincerely, Michael L. RE: Version
Barnabas, FYI: The License document you reference does not indicate the correct version of the Tomcat server. Sincerely, Michael L. I found out that in tomcat, it is named LICENSE. lol! I'm just kidding dude! That help was very useful and more than $10 worth even though the name was LICENSE. Now in the LICENSE of my tomcat, it is displayed: * $Header: /home/cvs/jakarta-tomcat/LICENSE,v 1.1.1.1 1999/10/09 00:19:57 duncan Exp $ * $Revision: 1.1.1.1 $ * $Date: 1999/10/09 00:19:57 $ I suppose it is very old one, namely, Circa 1999. And I think that is why it is giving us all kinds of all kinds of errors. Moreover, what I am really concerned is the following message displayed bellow of the above message: * * * The Apache Software License, Version 1.1 * * Copyright (c) 1999 The Apache Software Foundation. Tomcat Server Setup question
Hi, I'm beyond newbie, meaning, painfully unaware of how to do this. I've been reading for days the User Guide and all the supporting documents at the Jakarta website for days and still can't figure out where/why I'm not doing this correctly. I'm attempting to install the Tomcat to run with Apache. However, because I'm painfully ignorant, I cannot seem to get Tomcat running correctly. I've successfully installed the Service (can see it in my Component Services applet), but when I attempt to start the service, it returns you must set Java_Home to point at your java development kit installation. Where do I find that configuration file? I've modified my wrapper.properties and worker.properties configuration files to point at my Tomcat installation home. I've also set up correctly (I think), the jk_nt_service.exe module. I'm running Windows 2000 with Tomcat 3.3 and Apache 1.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially in this heat. Sincerely, Michael L. Reeves (c)?(c)
