how do Apache2 and Tomcat4 talk ?

I have bothc tomcat4 and apache2 on the same computer.
I want to configure both to talk not through tcp connections.only processes.

can it be done ?

Hello,

I configured Apache2 to work with Tomcat4.1.12 using mod_jk. this is my 
worker.properties:
worker.list=ajp13
worker.ajp13.port=8009
worker.ajp13.host=myhost
worker.ajp13.type=ajp13

I am using linux Slackware, all works fine, I have the apache and the tomcat on the 
same
computer.
my question is, can I configure Apache and Tomcat to talk not using tcp sockets? only
processes
