the encoding in tomcat-users.xml should be handled correctly by the xml parser, no? Once the umlauts are converted into java strings they should again be no problem. I will try to debug that... The problem with deleting users is getting worse. One of our customers says editing the xml file and rebooting tomcat is unacceptable for him. We would have to switch to another application server if there is no working GUI. The switch does not fit into our customer's IT environment, so the project is in danger to fail.
