Count Number of Users Logged in

Howdy, You could use the tomcat manager webapp (read its page). Or you could write your own session listener which will keep a count of sessions. I've thought about doing a session listener for just this purpose... is there much of an overhead expense associated with this? I know that this is all going to be relative to the overall system load/number of users/etc... but generally speaking, is writing a session listener considered a good thing, a bad thing, or a neutral thing in terms of system overhead? Howdy, It's very low overhead unless you really go out of your way to do something dumb in your listener. As long as you make sure to properly dereference sessions when they're destroyed, i.e. don't just listen for their creation, you don't need to worry about performance impact.
