I'm trying to determine what options are available if any to handle the scenario when web application "foo" on server 1 gets stopped, but web application "foo" on server 2 is still running and both are apart of a load-balanced environment. Currently, I'm using a hardware load balanced environment, and it is unaware that the individiual web application is down on server 1. Is my local balancer out-dated? How does the mod_jk and Balancer web-app solutions compare?
