Hello:
Thanks for the info ..I have it running now. 

I have another question:
It seems to me iText creates pdf from static files (i.e. compiled java
files) However, can I create pdf files using iText for (dynamic) servlet
generated tables if I am not sure of the number of rows returned by
servlet based on user input.

No clue.  I'd imagine that you can, but I wouldn't have any idea how to 
do it without looking at iText.  There's probably a tutorial or something
that you can look at.
