Re: Topband: Small garden DX
Petr, I put the diodes before a common mode choke which I think is the right place for them to be as the choke will isolate the front end of the preamp from the diodes. If we were talking about uWaves, then it would be a big issue and one would use a relay to provide the isolation on TX and protect the preamp, but does it really make a difference on 160m and the nF ? 73John - M0ELS _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband

Roger, That is late evening/early morning in the North America. I'm fast asleep on weekdays since I have to get up for work. I try to operate during your sunrise on Friday and Saturday nights when I remind myself to take a nap during the day. Not as young as I used to be... A lot of us are either regaining sleep after CQ WW Phone, AND/OR we spent most of the night listening to the 3C1L pileups :-) Tim N3QE On Tue, Oct 31, 2017 at 6:15 AM, Roger Kennedy < ro...@wessexproductions.co.uk> wrote: > > There are usually several of us Europeans on at around our Sunrise (about > 0630Z) . . . > > But even though the band is open (as you can see on RBN), no stations about > to work ! > > Roger G3YRO > > > > _ > Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband > _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
Topband: No American activity
There are usually several of us Europeans on at around our Sunrise (about 0630Z) . . . But even though the band is open (as you can see on RBN), no stations about to work ! Roger G3YRO _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband

Hi John, congrats... Just 1p note > be careful with the back to back diodes in the front-end. These are not the best solution in some cases because of possible IMD issue. 73 - Petr, OK1RP B: goo.gl/Fd2JhJ On Tue, Oct 31, 2017, at 07:50 AM, John Randall via Topband wrote: > Lat night I worked two stations YU1XA and I5JVA and was happy with that, > then went to bed. Topband: Small garden DX
Lat night I worked two stations YU1XA and I5JVA and was happy with that, then went to bed. I have now cured most of my QRN and common mode problems and could see weaker stations on the flex panadapter. Silly me, I did learn a painful lesson £2.50 when my preamp went dead and upon opening it up, I realized that I had forgotten to add double back to back diodes across the preamp input. A new 2n5109 and protection diodes was soldered into place and I was back on the air. Next step is to make a loop antenna for receive. 73John - M0ELS _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
