Re: Topband: Sanity Check on K9AY Loop Sensitivity
Hi Pete, I also had problems with broadcast stations at my 4 EL bidirectional (330°/150°) broadside K9AY arrays 84 meters apart uses three 0° hybrid combiners. The problem was solved by a Hi-Z amplifiers with operational IO AD8855ANZ according to Steve VE6NZ in each of the K9AY Loop. I don't use any impedance transformers anymore. The amplifiers are connected directly to the K9AY antenna loops through a small capacitor. Anyhow, while it shows substantial directivity on broadcast stations, I was surprise by how much the K9AY loop's sensitivity suffers compared to my inverted L. Listening to a broadcast station with the K9AY on 1500 KHz, the station is S6-7 in the right direction and S3 in the reverse. and S9 +10 on the inverted L. There's also something haywire in the K9AY's preamp, which *reduces* signal by a couple of S-Units. Could be I need to replace the transistor? -- 73, Pete N4ZR One of the RBN team _ Searchable Archives: <http://www.contesting.com/_topband> http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
Re: Topband: Skirted vertical antennas for MF broadcast
I have been using a similar antenna for 160m for several years. I described it on my QRZ.com website. I wish it had a spec of freq in the drawing so it could be scaled to 160 or 80 meters. Re: Topband: PSK31 etc
Hi. I am strongly against your recommendations. 1836 kHz is the center of QRP activity! Use only IARU approved frequencies for digimodes! iaru-r1.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/hf_r1_bandplan.pdf Karel OK1CF CRC HF Manager -Původní zpráva- Od: Topband za uživatele Jim Brown Odesláno: pondělí 21. února 2022 22:35 Komu: topband@contesting.com Předmět: Re: Topband: PSK31 etc > What are recommended frequencies for PSK31 and FT8 (and others if > applicable) on 160m? I don't know of digital activity on 160M other than WSJT modes. It's mostly FT8 and WSPR, very occasionally FST4 and FT4. Default frequencies are in WSJT-X. Study the manual to activate them. 73, Jim K9YC _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector

Re: Topband: Looking for a 2n5109
Hi, There is an equivalent type of 2N5109 available at many sellers. NTE278 with same parameters.
