Re: Topband: Three Port Rx antenna splitter
When I get home tomorrow, I will sweep a few of cable splitters and see what they look like. I have used them or spitting receivers in HF and VHF many times. I'd avoid the TV splitters, quality is all over the place and the lower frequency limit varies. You would really want to measure the loss at 1.8 MHz before committing to use one. I've been playing around with satellite TV splitters (most specifically DirecTV splitters ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/Direct-TV-DTV-Splitter-4-Way/233066815876? ) These are spec'ed from 2 GHz down to 2 MHz and if you shop around you can find them for a lot less than a new CATV splitter. The satellite stuff has to work since it costs them bucks for service calls. One other advantage is that one port has DC pass through, if you need it. Re: Topband: Three Port Rx antenna splitter
Frank, If too much trouble to make a proper splitter, a $2.00 TV splitter will work fine. The specs say they are good for 5-1000 MHz. but I've used them in years past on 160m and seriously doubt that, without test equipment that most people don't even have available, you would ever know the difference. 73...Stan, K5GO > On Dec 24, 2018, at 7:00 AM, Frank VO1HP wrote: > > Does anyone have a schematic for a 75ohm three port splitter using #73 > binocular cores. Corrected the autotransformer turns/tap on the 2-way splitter examples... http://no3m.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/splitters.png On 12/24/18 1:57 PM, Eric NO3M wrote: Frank If you really want a 3-port splitter, see here: http://no3m.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/splitter-3.png Two more common alternatives using 2-port splitters: http://no3m.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/splitters.png 73 Eric NO3M On 12/24/18 8:00 AM, Frank VO1HP wrote: Does anyone have a schematic for a 75ohm three port splitter using #73 binocular cores. Re: Topband: Three Port Rx antenna splitter
Hi Frank, I don't know anything about 3-way splitters, but if I were in your situation I think I would sacrifice 1 dB and make a 4-way splitter using 3x 2-way splitters. 2-way is much more commonly used and documented, and quite probably easier to achieve than 3-way. The 4th port is simply terminated in a load, of course. 73, Greg, ZL3IX On 2018-12-25 02:00 a.m., Frank VO1HP wrote: Does anyone have a schematic for a 75ohm three port splitter using #73 binocular cores.
