I knew a guy who ordered one just to use the aluminum from these  beasts to 
make a 15 meter beam.

As a brand-new, know-nothing 11-year old novice I desperately wanted a
Gotham V-80 vertical -- because it worked on all bands (equally poorly hi)
and the ad said it did not require radials.  I did not know what radials
were but I was certainly glad it didn't require them.  How easily we are
duped by advertising!  Now I'm a know-not-much-more extra but at least I
have big antennas high in the air...hi.  73,  Greg-N4CC
