 Hi github admins. I'm bumping the priority of this because I'm migrating
 to GitHub for issue tracking
 (https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/32832) but cannot move
 Nyx's issues until we have a repository.

 If there is a self-service method for me to create a GitHub Nyx repository
 that mirrors the TPO repo then please let me know!

 Hi lovely trac admins. I migrated to GitHub for Stem's issue tracking
 (https://github.com/torproject/stem/issues/). All Stem tickets within trac
 are now closed.

 Could we please remove Stem from the Component drop down so new tickets
 are not created?

 For Android apps, JAR files in Maven repositories are the standard way to
 use libraries.  The _geoip_ and _geoip6_ files are a kind of library of
 data.  So this adds the `-make-maven-artifacts` option to _src/config
 /mmdb-convert.py_ to generate the standard Maven artifacts of these
 datafiles that are directly consumable in a standard Android build setup,
 e.g. in _build.gradle_:

 These should be reproducible running them anywhere, since the timestamps
 come from the MaxMind file.

 I noticed recently plenty of 'unrecognized' relay_extended messages for
 node-Tor project while everything was working fine in the past after I
 updated the code and made it modular (and some abnormal delays to
 establish circuits), see also http://peersm.com/peersm2 this is temporary
 but I had to put a lot of debug stuff to find out what was going on

 Finally I figured out why: unlike what is writen in the main Tor specs the
 hash is calculated not only with the real payload of the relay_extended
 messages but includes also the padding (apparently starting with ,
 not sure where it comes from neither where it is specified)

 This looks quite strange, what is the rationale for this, is it a bug, why
 is it not documented and does it impact other types of messages?

 Hm. I'm not concerned about the jenkins issue per se, but I do want us to
 think longer before we have the latest versions of Tor drop support for
 still-supported debian versions.  We like relays to keep upgrading, and
 stranding a bunch of relays on tor 0.3.5.x would be at least somewhat
 troublesome.

 I don't suppose that debian/ubuntu have plans to ship openssl 1.1.1 once
 their current openssl versions are at end-of-life?

 In any case, let's consider this in the new year.

 According to the docs on google, we should keep the TXT record forever in
 order to stay validated.

 That said, I think we can probably revert it to just being a CNAME once we
 have learned what we need to learn from the google search console and
 finalised the migration to ooni.org.

 With Tor Browser, Orbot, and other apps on Android, some Tor settings are
 managed via the `SharedPreferences`/`PreferenceFragment` Android classes.
 When used in their standard setup, these handle the whole lifecycle of
 preferences.  Right now, we have to do a lot of tricks to get the settings
 from the Android classes, convert them to `torrc` format, then handle
 reloading Tor at the right time.

 Android's `SharedPreferences` writes out to a standard xml file, e.g
 
`/data/data/org.torproject.android/shared_prefs/org.torproject.android_preferences.xml`.
 This XML file has a simple format that has been the same since the
 beginning.  If Tor can read this format as an optional `torrc` format, and
 also potentially automatically reload the config when that file changes,
 then the Android code will be drastically simpler.  This will greatly
 improve the interaction around any kind of user-facing setting, like
 bridges, exit countries, pluggable transports, etc.

 Yxml is a 6k C XML parser in a single file under an MIT license.  It has
 been maintained since 2013.  It would fit the bill quite nicely.

 Yes, XML is not an ideal format.  We don't need the most problematic parts
 of XML for this, e.g. namespaces, custom entities, etc. and Yxml does not
 support them anyway.

 Apparently it's fixed in more recent versions of Android Gradle Plugin:
  I added sorting the input files in AGP in change list with Change-Id:
 I371304c8a6d244f8bb7833609f464eba000e608f - it should be available in
 android gradle plugin version 3.5 Canary 7
  We cherry picked it into 3.4 and it should be available in the next 3.4
 canary. We'll see what we can do about 3.3.

 I talked with @boklm about this at the Reproducible Builds summit.  I've
 now forgotten what the original reproducible issue was that this ticket is
 dealing with but I do remember that I think the best way forward is to
 work with https://android-rebuilds.beuc.net/ to rebuild the things TBB
 needs with reproducibility fixes included.  This would mostly mean
 backporting them, since I think the current versions from Google have no
 known reproducibility issues.
