Comment:

 Hi 0xrichard. No, skipped tests (and by extension the online decorator)
 wouldn't be related to test failures.

 Teor is digging into ongoing travis hangs on #28170 so resolving in favor
 of that.

Comment (by 0xrichard):

 I cloned and compliled

 tor-0.2.9.14
 tor-0.3.5.8
 tor-0.4.0.5

 with this change

https://github.com/rj76/stem/pull/2/commits/189803a306052060b045baf9418b5527a480b744

 I ran

 $ TOR_BINARY=/home/richard/bin/tor-0.2.9.14/src/or/tor python run_tests.py
 -v -a --tor /home/richard/bin/tor-0.2.9.14/src/or/tor

 $ TOR_BINARY=/home/richard/bin/tor-0.3.5.8/src/app/tor python run_tests.py
 -v -a --tor /home/richard/bin/tor-0.3.5.8/src/app/tor

 $ TOR_BINARY=/home/richard/bin/tor-0.4.0.5/src/app/tor python run_tests.py
 -v -a --tor /home/richard/bin/tor-0.4.0.5/src/app/tor

 locally, without problems.

 But with the 0.2.9.14 tor version in travis for python 2.7, 3.6, and 3.7
 it gave errors in test.integ.control.controller.TestController. The
 closest I could get to a conclusion is that many tests were skipped , and
 not for that python versions. Could it be the @test.require.online
 decorator? While the travis instance is indeed online.

Comment:

 Hi 0xrichard. I know that teor has been investigating tor/stem CI issues
 but I'm unaware of any particular known gotchas at present. To look into
 this I need to know the git commit of the tor instance you're testing
 against. What is it?

 Before trying to pickup tickets, I would like to have tests succeed on
 travis. Strangely enough, some python versions fail when running tests
 with --integ.

 https://travis-ci.org/rj76/stem

 Anyone else has this issue, or know how to fix this or point me in some
 direction? You can discard the timeout decorator, I was just trying
 something.

 Regards,
 Richard
