Re: [tor-relays] Trying Trusted Tor Traceroutes
Hi Sebestian, Just a quick update regarding the project. There are multiple GB's of data to analyse and it is still being worked on. We are also working on the public script(s) as well. is your project still on-going? I'm asking because your score board was not updated since May (except one test(?) upload in the phase foo-foo) and though the repository updates are interesting (dynamic download of relay ips) they were never approved for usage according to your installation notes. Dear Renke, Dear list-members, Yes, the project is alive. Thank you for asking and for your ongoing support. Yes the repo was updated but it is not ready for review yet. We are making changes for the next traceroute round and will ask for testing / testers as soon as it is ready. There is also being worked on a reverse traceroute and we had people at the last tor-dev meeting as well who are trying to figure out what step to do next. Regarding your comment on Dynamic download of relay IPs. It's just downloading the current list of relay IP instead of using a static list. I don't see any harm in that as one of the participant in the past pointed out to use the latest IPs anyway. Theres a lot of work to do with limited human resources, please stay tuned. We will be back ;-) Hi Sebestian, Just a quick update regarding the project. There are multiple GB's of data to analyse and it is still being worked on. Sebastian Urbach Have been seeing some dubious traffic warnings the last few days on the firewall from 50.116.9.77, 74.207.228.161 and 109.74.204.217. Are these IPs performing traceroutes for your project and can you vouch for them? If so will it improve your results if the ICMP TTL-expired packets are permitted? You should avoid the duplicate TCP SYNs if you don't want to annoy people. Maybe explain exactly (and tersely) how this works. If they're not yours they go on the black-hole ACL never to be seen again. ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays

Dear list members, Some relay operators asked if it would be useful to run the script multiple times on the same system. The short answer is yes. It was unclear if enough operators would be willing to help with the script even one time. No one expected that there would be operators who like to do more than one run :-) Thats awesome ! Multiple runs could show temporal routing changes and therefore valuable new information. The value for multiple runs will be implemented into the live scoreboard within reasonable time. Hi, Of course there are systems still working on the task and probably there will be a few more wit a complete set of results. Considering the fact that this project is running for a few months now and based on the starting dates you can see it does not look good so far. From what i can see you run the script with traceroute and not with scamper. That will take roughly 1 month to finish. You started yesterday and submitted the data from phase 1,2 and 7 runs from phase 3. Since you are in an early stage i would suggest stopping the script and install scamper as recommended. Re: [tor-relays] Trying Trusted Tor Traceroutes
Hi Konrad, Please check if your files looks like this: slash24-220.ips slash24-220.scamper It would be a lower value than 220 though, just an example. You could check if there is a scamper and or traceroute process running. The speed and the filename documented on the site are indicating that you are running traceroute and not scamper.
