TorBirdy does not itself initiate connections but relies either on a
local instance of tor (we call that "system tor") or uses tor via
TorBrowser (this depends on how you configured it).

This means that when you use TorBirdy, just like with TorBrowser,

- circuits are changed every ten minutes, unless
  - a circuit is not functional, then it is changed immediately
  - a circuit transporting a single TCP stream is not changed and will
stay the same
- you maintain the same entry guard.

See https://www.torproject.org/docs/faq.html.en#ChangePaths

If your email addresses are located at different e-mail providers, tor
should technically use a different circuit for each.

But if these are all accounts located at the same provider, the same
circuit might be used. (I just verified this in my mail server log for
two different accounts using different domain names but hosted on the
same mail server).
If this is your use case, you might want to start experimenting with
contextual identities.

Cheers,
u.

I dont think so , Torbirdy is not real something unless thunderbird
becoming a fork to work properly with Tor design.

There are numerous problem with thunderbird needs to be shutdown or
change in order to work anonymously.

Better to use Torbirdy+Thunderbird with an Anonymous OS like Whonix or
Tails.

[tor-talk] TorBirdy questions

2019-01-23 Thread anan
Hi,

I have several email accounts in Icedove. When trying to get new
messages, does TorBirdy create a unique Tor circuit per selected
account? Or does TorBirdy sync all my email accounts through the same
circuit?
