[SlimDevices: Touch] Can't get USB-device to work
I just bought a USB-powered harddisk (Verbatim) to place all my music from iTunes (imported from CD), so I could play it through my Touch... The USB shows up and I start the Sqeezebox server, but when trying to search on artist or albums, nothing shows up eventhough the USB harddisk is full of music. I've tried with both FAT32 and Mac (Journaled) but that doesnt change anything... I was seeing the same problem while building my testcase for the missing cover art when scanning with 7.6.0, and scan now runs successfully the first time. Make sure you have started the TinySBS scan. Select USB from home menu, then Start SqueezeBox Server. I had the same problem with the cover artwork. I delete the cache folder and restart the scan again. Since doing the 7.6 update, the SBT doesn't recognise the server (no IP addr) when wired ethernet. With wireless, it can't find DHCP. I wish I had the missing artwork problem, I now have nothing Done Factory Reset (after rebooting router which did nothing) What should I try next, get on to logitech? Phhh, after x hours of manually deleting embedded cover art on 14t.000 songs the 7.6.0 cover art now works. Thus, I can not do any debugging now. Thanks for asking though! Guys - I've identified the issue which lead to WMP downloaded files (and other hidden artwork) no longer being recognized. The Touch can be fickle about USB powered drives, externals with their own power seem to do better. Also you will need to wait until the Touch has finished running it's scan, and that could take a couple of hours depending on how many files you have on the drive. Same problems here, after my upgrade to 7.6. Having Radio Touch synced (but powser state not synced). Sometimes the other one turn on when I power on the other ?!? Whether any of this applies to your HD I dunno. Touch and USB / SD Troubleshooting USB or SD card devices - Check the formatting of the device, Touch supported formats: FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext3 - Touch can only see/use a single partition, format as a single partition - Remove any included device utilities as these can cause issues - Make sure there is at least 10% free space (20% even better) - Remove any non-music related files (videos, documents, programs, pictures, data, etc ) - Attach device directly to your computer and run basic maintenance utilities (disk cleanup, error checking, defrag) - Place a small, single folder of music on the device for initial testing (why have it scanning for hours if it isnt going to complete the scan) USB HD - Try an external USB power source, HD power supply or a powered USB hub. Use firewire as a connection between what? Just to be fair I download 7.6.1-32935, set up a test album folder with 25 wav albums, 25 flac albums, and 25 mp3 albums. I uninstalled 7.5.5 from the control panel and cleaned the registry. Installed 7.6.1 and let it scan my test album folder. It found all the music, but would not display any of the album art from the wav files. The flac and mp3 files album art displayed fine. All my music (wav, flac, mp3) is tagged using TagRename. Every album has it's own folder with the album art saved as folder.jpg. Multiple clear and rescan and still no album art on wav files. The bottom line as I see it: If you want to use wav files, stay away from 7.6 at all costs. I've always used wav files since I purchased my original Slim Devices branded Squeezebox 3. Except for one brief hiccup, it's always worked well until 7.6. If all the other formats are not going to be supported appropriately, then it's disingenuous to the point of outright lying for Logitech to claim that the Touch supports these formats. I now have the same problem as the OP. Problem started after my SBT was upgraded to 7.6 by mysb.com. I was going to skip the upgrade for a while but accidentally went thru with it. For me, it looks like goes from screensaver when off to the now playing screen.
