[SlimDevices: Touch] USB Problems

2017-12-26 Thread johnreid

I am running LMS 7.9 and have an USB 2.0 drive with some .wav files.
LMS sees the USB drive; but it does not see anything on it - none of the
.wav files show up and that is all that is on the drive.
I have formatted the drive again and copies the files anew to no avail.
The instruction guide provides no info on how the USB is to work but
refers to download the "Squeezebox Touch Feature Guide" but I am unable
to locate it on this site.
I have no problem playing music on the system from my computer in My
Music.
Does the "Feature Guide" exist and if so where can I find it?
Does anyone have an answer to why the USB is not being picked up by the
Touch?

I have not tried that, but it is up and running now with internet
streams. I don't know what happened, but the computer was shut down
overnight, and this afternoon, I went and tried the Touch. I went right
to Favourites and there were my programmes. It has been playing all
afternoon. I fired up the computer, turned on LMS, and so far, I have
had no problems.

The next time there is a problem, I shall try your solution. My
interpretation was that the Touch was not seeing the Router for access
to the internet, but it was seeing the router to play music from my HD!

Thanks,

[SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot Access Radio Stations

2015-04-21 Thread johnreid

When I try to access radio stations, I get the following comment -
actually, until I looked at the log, I never saw the instruction to
check the proxy configuration, but then I don't have any proxy.

[15-04-21 16:18:21.0029]
Slim::Networking::Discovery::Players::_players_error (146) Unable to get
players: Connect timed out: Invalid argument - please check your proxy
configuration (http=127.0.0.1:14068)

I have a D-Link DIR-628; on it, I have a Blackberry Playbook, a
Blackberry smart phone, an Android smart phone, my wireless printer
(Epson Workforce) and the Squeezebox Touch.

I can access my audio data base from both the Touch and the Web
Interface. There is no problem finding my music and playing it on the
Touch and through my system. Currently, my firmwear is: 7.8.0, Signal
Strength is 56%, LMS version is 7.8.0 and I am running Win 8.1. This
problem emerged about two weeks ago, and at first I thought the problem
was with the router. However, since I was able to add an Android phone
with no problems and all the other instruments work, I think it may be
the Touch.

I have tried re-setting the Touch several times as well as going into
the diagnostics and looking at network and wi-fi and re-setting to
factory settings. There is no change. Since the Touch can see and play
my Music on one of my HDs, I am at a loss to understand why it cannot
play any radio stations, whether I access them from my apps or direct
from my Squeezebox account. For example, one of the stations is:
http://classicalstream1.publicradio.org will play on Foobar with no
problem and used to play on my Squeezebox account. I cannot access
Tunein because of the report above --Connect timed out: Invalid argument
- - so I am at a loss as to what might be the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot Access mysqueezebox.com from the web control app

2015-02-07 Thread johnreid

Thanks for the suggestion. I did the reboot and order returned to the
system.

I noticed that when I turn on Favourites in the Touch and go to
MySqueezbox and my radio stations, it does not go back directly to My
Music when I turn on the computer LMS but I can live with the manual
change process.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot Access mysqueezebox.com from the web control app

2015-02-03 Thread johnreid

When I try to get on to Favourites on mysqueezbox.com from my computer
using the web control app, I get the following message: There was an
error loading the remote feed for : (Connect timed out: Invalid
argument). This never happened before. I can still get on mysqueezbox
by going to the web site with my browser but I am concerned that
something has gone wrong. I have LMS 7.8 installed.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and what the solution might be?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Composer as Search Item

2014-07-25 Thread johnreid

Thanks for all the interesting feedback. I now see multiple ways of
handling this problem. Since I rip with EAC, I have a separate heading
for Composer, and that is what I use. These suggestions should permit me
to find my music.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Composer as Search Item

2014-07-19 Thread johnreid

My music collection is highly classical, and to find items of interest,
you need to be able to search under composer. Using Foobar, WMP or
other music players, this is simple and easy. However, using LMS it is
anything but, and I have not been able to figure out how to do it. Right
now, I go into Foobar, find what I am looking for, and then using the
computer, set it up to play what I chose.

How can I do this under LMS?

[SlimDevices: Touch] Music Directory Problems

2013-07-17 Thread johnreid

I have an extensive Music Directory, and I like to file my music this
way: Folder is Album Name/then Album contents.

When I have a number of albums by particular artists I file as follows:
Folder --Glen Gould --Gould Plays Bach; -- Gould plays more Bach,
etc. These are individual albums nested under the name of the Artist (in
this case). LMS does not appear to pick up on all of these albums and
often it will display only one or two. Is it necessary to return to the
old way and have each individual album as in my first example?

[SlimDevices: Touch] Play List Options

2012-12-07 Thread johnreid

I have made a play list in LMS but it is in two pages. I would like to
add to it, but am unable to add anything to the first page. All of my
additions go to the bottom of the second page and I can organize them
there and only there. I apparently cannot move additions to the play
list from the second page to the first page. Is there a way around this
problem?

It does have a coax *output* connection, which you seem to have mistaken
 for an input.

 Therein lies your problem.

Looking at the Touch booklet, the USB port appears to be for input only.
Is there a way to change it so that it can be used for output?

 John,

It should just work. Which $200 DAC do you have? Are there any lights on
it to indicate lock status of the various data rates? If so, what do
you observe on those lights? Are there multiple inputs to select the on
the DAC for various input connections? Are you sure you have selected
 the correct one?

Can you swap to using IR Toshlink cable instead of coax as a diagnostic
step? Does your receiver have a digital input you could use to test the
Touch's digital output (either coax or IR)?

Sorry, but its hard to know whats going on at your end without more
 information.

Thanks for the questions. Here is a better description of what I have.

I have a Musiland Monitor 02 US. The Musiland has analogue outputs
(which go to my Linn Classak receivor, which has no digital inputs
although it does have a Toslink out) two headphone outputs, each
slightly different), a USB input, a RCA based coax input and a Toslink
input. I has no indicator lights. It comes with an interface controlled
from my laptop or netbook computer (whichever it is connected to) but it
is set for normal operations - i.e., 44/16. The analogue and digital
outs on the Musiland appear to work together, that is they all have the
signal when I look at them through the Musiland interface on my laptop.

I have tried to get it to work again today with no luck.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Coax Connections

2012-07-20 Thread johnreid

I have a new Touch, and it runs the latest OP. I have had it set up to
run directly from the Touch to the my receivor using the analogue outs.

I also have a $200 DAC and I thought I would experiment with a 75 ohm
coax cable (with the RCA plugs) from the Touch to my DAC and then to the
receivor, using the the analogue outs from the DAC to the receivor. All
I get is silence.

I have checked the DAC and it works well with my net computer, with USB
connection to the DAC, and analogue outs to the receivor.

Are there some software changes to be made of which I am unaware? Or is
this a problem with the Touch? Or have I made some errors?

[SlimDevices: Touch] Radio Playlist Addition

2012-07-13 Thread johnreid

In LMS, there is a Radio Playlist, which currently is EMPTY. I would
like to add a radio station to that Playlist, using LMS. There is a
button marked ADD;click on it and up pops a window, I add the .MU3 file
and click SAVE. Nothing happens. The window clears and I get the
information EMPTY, exactly where I started from. Is there a step I am
missing?
