I used a lot of elbow grease with the soft scrub and the goo gone might
not have even been necessary. It didn't seem to do too much but the
surface kept getting nicer the more i scrubbed it with soft scrub. You
don't want it too wet when initially using the soft scrub. It seems to
be more effective when the soft scrub is not watered down. I used a
toothbrush to scrub it.

I know this is a antique thread and device but the Touch may become more
popular with the new CORE32 LMS that you can pre-order. I have two
Touches and the remotes were in terrible condition. I initially cleaned

lettering. I saw the post about using bathroom cleaner and i remembered

When my remote became unpleasantly sticky I opened up the unit and
treated the top part with silicone remover (the stuff you use in
bathrooms etc). Paint it on and leave overnight. It took a few
applications, but exposed the shiny plastic surface underneath and did
not remove the lettering.

Task now completed.
Not wishing to erase the lettering I tried a range of cleaning options.
I finished up with Tesco's own brand "Everyday Value" cream cleaner, and
one of those washing up sponges with a friction pad on one side (very
hi-tech).
It took ages of rubbing before all the sticky stuff was gone and I'm
wondering if there is a way of preventing the same gunge appearing again

The top part is a piece of hard plastic with a coating that becomes
sticky over time, I cleaned mine with my wife's nail varnish remover,
trouble is it cleaned all the lettering off too .

Not to worry, it feels 100 times better and I only use it for it's
volume control these days.

I inserted a fairly slim (not sharp) knife blade under the join at the
top right corner (me being left-handed), and prised it gently up. Once
you get it started, you'll know what to do, there are 8 lugs on the main
bottom piece (4 each side) that need pulling outwards from the top
piece, easy once you get going if you get one side free, the top plate
should just pull off.

The "buttons" are a single piece of moulded floppy rubber and just lie
on top of the PCB.

Good luck.23076

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Remote Control Codes

2010-12-02 Thread Adriaan

@Seven:

Thanks for the spreadsheet - that was very helpful! I cut-n-pasted all
of the codes into ProntoEdit and they work. (Well, most of them: the
code for '1' is actually '0', the one for '2' is '1', the one for '3'
is '2'. I had the Pronto learn the code for '3' and now I have a full
set.)

You offered (to someone else?) an explanation of how you went from the
SB Touch keycodes to those large strings: I'd like to understand the
process.

My SliMP3, Squeezebox 2, SB Boom and SB Touch now all use the same IR
codes, _including_ the 'keys' that are not even on the remotes, but
that I happened to use all the time (especially the discrete codes for
pwr_on and pwr_off).

With time, I'll post the CCF file to remotecentral.com, so anyone
struggling with the same problem won't have to cut-n-paste all those
codes.

Thanks again, Seven!

I looked at the .ccf-file on remotecentral (the one from February 2004),
deduced the hex format from that and tried it with the discrete codes

 MX-900 (using the hex editor).

Seven - these both seem to be the same - can I ask you what you deduced
as the format, I would liek to add some more discrete ones...

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Remote Control Codes

The codes are in the Slim_Devices_Remote.ir file on your SBS server,
 e.g. discrete power on is

Code:

  power_on= 76898f70

I don't know how exactly you'd translate those for Pronto, but if you
can learn the power toggle code (0x7689*40bf*), hopefully it's pretty
obvious how you'd encode discrete on (0x7689*8f70*) or discrete off
 (0x7689*8778*).

Can someone help me with what these codes are called? I'm hoping to
find a converter to change the the above codes to hex if possible.

Thanks,

I just tried a backward approach -- applying the ideas in 'this thread
about Radio IR' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69634)
to update the /usr/share/jive/jive/irMap_default.lua file on my Touch
so that it would be hard-coded to accept JVC codes instead of Slim
(e.g. map arrow_down to the JVC code 0xf78b instead of the Slim
code 0x7689b04f). I didn't have any luck, but I have a pre-release
hardware build, I think at least two revisions older than the retail
units. So you might have better luck. The basic idea is to SSH into
Touch, cd to /usr/share/jive/jive and edit the irMap_default.lua file,
changing the hex values. Once you do that, you'll need to reboot Touch
for the changes to take effect (simply restarting the 'jive' user
interface app does not suffice). If you're comfortable with Linux and
vi, I'd suggest you try it. Save a copy of irMap_default.lua in case
you have to revert, and give it a shot. I'm pretty skeptical -- I think
it may be the case that the IR circuits on Touch have either been
programmed to ignore JVC codes (which would make sense -- the Touch UI
should be more responsive if the IR circuit doesn't bother it with
every silly IR signal that comes its way), or perhaps are even
physically incapable of recognizing both Squeezebox and JVC codes --
see 'this comment from Felix'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=518771postcount=5) which
isn't entirely clear about whether the IR limitation discussed in *that*
thread is an intrinsic hardware issue or design choice.

Thanks for your reply but that is way over my head. I had some luck
having the universal remote learn the codes from the SD remote but not
100%.

Slim and Logitech have put together another wonderful product!

I think you must *not* be using SB3 codes. What kind of remote control
is it, and how do you *know* it's sending Slim Devices codes? Have you
disabled the jvc .ir codes for your SB3 and restarted SBS to verify
your remote isn't sending JVC codes?

I'm using a Pronto Pro TSU7000. I have descrete IR codes set that work
perfect with my SB3. When I press the ON button I get the brightess
menu. Most buttons produce nothing.

I'd suggest turning on IR debugging in SBS, pointing your remotes at
the SB3, and comparing the hex codes for your Pronto and an official
Slim/Logitech remote. I've had no trouble with my remotes, both
Slim/Logitech and One For All that I've programmed with Slim hex codes.
I hope this isn't a growing problem, but I'm starting to fear that some
universal remote vendors offered JVC codes that they (mis)labeled as
Squeezebox codes. :-/

Ok I understand what your saying. Where on the slim website can I find
