[Touch-packages] [Bug 1313996] Re: [MIR] Tracker

2014-08-23 Thread Tim
MIR for libmediaart Bug #1360565
libiptcdata seems dead upstream, last release appears to be from 2009, last
debian upload Jan 2010, I don't suppose that makes it the best candidate for a
MIR. Its probably ok to just disable this feature in tracker

Title:
  [MIR] Tracker

Status in Ubuntu GNOME:
  New
Status in “tracker” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Availability: Currently in universe, builds on all arches. Consists of
a trivial diff from the debian packaging.

Rationale: Nautilus has an optional tracker module which provides
indexing and system file search. Currently this is disabled since
tracker is in universe and nautilus in main. This provides a core
functionally for the GNOME desktop, in that file searching from the
overview only works if nautilus is built with the tracker module.

Quality Assurance: Package does not require configuration, and does
not ask any debconf questions. It is well supported upstream with the
stable tracker 1.0 release having been made recently (which will sync
  from debian this cycle)

  Security: No know CVE's

UI Standards: The only GUI part is completely option and a Suggests.
Tracker is largely integrated into the various GNOME components

Dependencies: All dependencies are in Main already

Standards Compliance: currently compliant with 3.9.4

Maintenance: Ubuntu GNOME team will provide maintenance beyond what is
required after merging debian packages etc.

Additional Info: tracker is only seeded on Ubuntu GNOME. building
nautilus with tracker support would add libtracker-sparql-0.16-0 to
  the other desktop seeds.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1356743] Re: package libcap2 1:2.22-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: package libcap2 is already installed and configured

2014-08-23 Thread clara
Hello,

I did try both sudos (twice, actually) but it does absolutely nothing. I
got no message at all from the terminal afterwards and Synaptic still
doesn't manage to reinstall or update netcat packages, always with the
same message :
Lecture de la base de données... 95%dpkg : erreur fatale irréversible,
abandon :
la liste des fichiers pour le paquet « netcat-traditional » n'a pas de
retour à la ligne en fin de fichier

I wonder if I just shouldn't reinstall Ubuntu 12.04 from scratch...

Le vendredi 22 août 2014 à 15:15 +, Serge Hallyn a écrit :

The Status: purge ok installed on the three netcat packages is not
 right. Could you please try:

 sudo cp /var/lib/dpkg/status /var/lib/dpkg/status.orig
 sudo sed -i 's/purge ok installed/install ok installed/' /var/lib/dpkg/status

and see if that helps? Hopefully that is the only error and you can
proceed after that, but there could be more corruption after that.

Someone on a forum orientated me toward this tutorial. As I suppose you
know much more about Ubuntu than anyone else on these forums I'm
wondering if you think this way would help or not?

Thanks again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1287041] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in af_glyph_hints_reload()

2014-08-23 Thread wgroiss
It affected me in 2 situations (i guess, is same bug ...):
When i open dash and type in to find a file on my hdd. But bug not immediately
starts, there are about 5 - 10 seconds waiting.
When i try the search a 2nd time, it works. When i try another search about 1
hour later = bug again.

And i have now also problems to force my dell-notebook to go in standby. Screen
becomes black for 1 or 2 seconds, network-connections stops, after that,
desktop is here without changes again and network-connection is up again.
But no standbye

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1301015] Re: Networking does not restart

2014-08-23 Thread AnrDaemon
#7 is not important, it's simply wrong.
man ifupdown, then complain.
For ifup it is enough that interface is present and configured in
/etc/network/interfaces. Or you can just tell to start all configured
interfaces.
For ifdown, you could always use -f.

VirtualBox argument is... just... I have no words. I'm laughing.

TL;DR: A bug report from someone, who never read, what system tell him,
doesn't qualify as opinion. Much less a bug.

I'm not convinced this bug is fixed; see the attachment images from my
 evince 3.10.3 in Ubuntu 14.04.

Or is this a different issue?

That is a different issue. Please open a new bug, attach the PDF, and
include your libpoppler version.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1013881] Re: Right-Ctrl key broken on French OSS keyboard

2014-08-23 Thread Coeur Noir
@Dominique Meèus : how did you install xkb-data 2.12-1 in Trusty ? I've
downloaded the .deb from https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/xkb-data/download
but gdebi says : État : Erreur : n'est plus fourni xkb-data
I've tried through Logithèque which seems to install it (no error message)
but still no classic right control key even after rebooting.
I'm using keyboard : Français (variante) and the keymap still shows level 5…
under Right Ctrl key.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1356743] Re: package libcap2 1:2.22-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: package libcap2 is already installed and configured

2014-08-23 Thread clara
Sorry I thought I had put a link in my previous message.
This one :
http://www.valhalla.fr/2011/01/19/ubuntu-apt-get-fin-de-ligne/
I'm afraid it's in French but you might understand what it's all about
just by reading the commands. He explains the different steps he took to
get rid of a similar bug. So the first steps he took were useless.

In the end he uses the su command and then this one :
echo '\r' /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-headers-2.6.35-22-generic.list

linux-header-2.6.35-22-generic being the file with a missing 'retour à
la ligne'.

Do you think it might work?

Have a nice day.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1360593] [NEW] unity8 freezes randomly

2014-08-23 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

krillin #205

[Sorry for the poor description]

On krillin UI freeze randomly. For example on the screenshot it occurred
while dragging the greeter to unlock the phone. I was playing music,
woke up the phone with the power button to turn the display off and did
a right edge swipe to remove the greeter.

This has been reported by several people in the past days, but I didn't
find a pattern to reproduce this bug reliably.

There is no crash in /var/crash and no apport activity.
If I press the power button to turn the screen off/on again, the greeter is
completely displayed (ie. doesn't cover half of the screen like the screenshot)
but the UI is not responsive to gestures or input events.

top doesn't show any specific process going crazy

that mixing video required 8 times more CPU compared to Ubuntu 13.10.
Using oprofile I discovered the heavy CPU load was taking place in
libpixman used by libcairo. However libpixman is currently the same
release in Ubuntu 14.04 and 13.10. However I did notice that libcairo
got upgraded from libcairo.so.2.11200.16 in Ubuntu 13.10 to
libcairo.so.2.11301.0 in Uuntu 14.04.

Snowmix uses libcairo2 primarily for scaling and rotating images and
overlay them in memory.

Replacing libcairo.so.2.11301.0 with libcairo.so.2.11200.16 in Ubuntu
14.04 lower the CPU usage by at least 8 times. So I suspect that
libcairo for Ubuntu 14.04 somehow got compiled without the hardware
acceleration such as MMX/SSE2/SSE3 etc. This is quite bad if this is the
case. If it is not the case, something else is seriously wrong with
libcairo2.

1)Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
  Release: 14.04
2) libcairo2:
Installed: 1.13.0~20140204-0ubuntu1

500 http://dk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages

3) I expected libcairo2 (libcairo.so.2.11301.0) for Ubuntu14.04 to work as
efficient as libcairo2 (libcairo.so.2.11200.16)for Ubuntu13.10.
4) Libcairo2 for Ubuntu 14.04 works 8 times slower indicating a lack of
MMX/SSE2/SSE3 etc acceleration.

For the source, you have the source for libcairo2 for Ubuntu14.04.

I can provide you with the source code for Snowmix using libcairo2, but
I don't expected you need it nor want it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1360522] [NEW] Post-upgrade from 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS, GTK cannot open .png files

2014-08-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have had multiple problems with an upgrade from 12.04 LTS to 14.04
LTS.

This specific issue involves multiple errors from GTK and other glib
applications not being able to process .png files.

The crash files refer to

GError: Unrecognized image file format.
GError: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file

etc. All files referred to are .png

Running gtk applications such as gimp produces a long list or warnings
of the nature:

Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'edit-cut' for stock:
Unrecognized image file format

The images load fine in gimp as images. As icons, nothing loads.

I have reinstalled glib and libpng to no effect.

** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2014-08-23 Thread David Gross
I'm also experiencing this in 14.04 after upgrade from Ubuntu 12; dbus
log shows PrepareForSleep true on suspend, but no corresponding
PrepareForSleep false on awakening.

Putting a script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ (or in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/)
to issue nmcli nm sleep false (a workaround suggested elsewhere)
doesn't work for me (but I can issue sudo nmcli nm sleep false
manually to bring the network back).

Creating a /etc/pm/config.d/config file with the command
SUSPEND_MODULES=brcmsmac (another suggested workaround) also doesn't
do the trick (yes, brcmsmac is my driver, I'm pretty sure anyway).

  SRU INFORMATION:
  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1360732] [NEW] [utopic] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling

2014-08-23 Thread Chris Cheney
Public bug reported:

This is essentially the same issue as bug #1360545 but on utopic. On
utopic there are also some kernel backtraces as shown below. The system
was completely unresponsive and I had to actually unplug the displayport
dongle to be able to file this bug report.

In addition to the interrupt storm message I got on trusty I also saw:

[3.713503] [drm:ivybridge_set_fifo_underrun_reporting] *ERROR* uncleared
fifo underrun on pipe C
[3.713536] [drm:ivb_err_int_handler] *ERROR* Pipe C FIFO underrun

The numerous backtraces looked similar to this each time, they appear to
be happening about 3 times per second until I unplugged the dongle.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359249] Re: Launching PAVUControl works from Xubuntu, but not from Xfce

figured out how to solve, will update that thread.

Bug description:
In Xubuntu 14.04 when clicking the sound indicator and choosing Sound
Settings Pavucontrol is launched, but it does not get launched in the
same scenario when the session Xfce is launched instead, with the
same settings. In fact I installed the xfce4 package on top of
Xubuntu's and launched it. Both xsession files list the same thing to
start it, so is indicator only choosing to work on whitelisted
  sessions?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1327644] Re: Return from suspend mode in 14.04 LTS does not display logon screen

2014-08-23 Thread Michael E. Slowinski
Will you ever look into this bug? I reported it in June and it is now
the end of August. I really like Ubuntu Linux and everything you stand
for. I think it is the best Linux distro by far. Just wish I could go
into suspend mode to conserve power. Thanks for any help.

Title:
Return from suspend mode in 14.04 LTS does not display logon screen

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I recently upgraded from 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS. When my computer goes
into suspend mode and I wake it up Ubuntu does not display the logon
screen. It displays a multi-colored screen and my computer locks up. I
have to power down to get out of the situation. I hope this helps.
This is the first bug I've reported.

  can't favorite/unfavorite a contact without going back

Status in “address-book-app” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
In image #64 (but happens at least since #53)
  1. go to contacts
  2. open a contact
  3. touch the star to make it a favorite
  4. touch again to un-favorite

  what happens: nothing
what should happen: should be unmarked as favorite.

you can go back to the contact list, open the contact again and change
the status, but again you can't toggle between the two states without
going back to the contact list
