[Touch-packages] [Bug 1345096] Re: pulseaudio uses too much cpu for doing nothing

2014-08-26 Thread David Henningsson
Looking at your data, it looks like skype has a low-latency stream
running. I e, killing skype should also fix the issue.

Unfortunately, skype is closed source software, so not sure how to fix
the root cause.

Status in “initramfs-tools-ubuntu-touch” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
With recent images (tested 208), the root partition is now writable by
  default:

  phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ mount |grep '/ '
  /dev/loop0 on / type ext2 (rw,relatime,errors=continue)

That's unexpeted and undesired. It also causes tests to actually
install test dependencies with dpkg (when running through
autopkgtest), instead of using the desired unpack into temp dir
  mode.

Note that there is no /userdata/.writable_image stamp, this happens
right after a fresh reinstall from scratch (no update).

This is on mako. On the emulator the root partition has always been
r/w, which is also highly undesired, but at least not a regression.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361518] [NEW] image 208 regression: does not ask for SIM pin at startup

2014-08-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Only a few days ago the phone finally started asking for the PIN right
on startup, in a nice full screen page that said Enter SIM pin,
followed by the phone pin. This worked up to image 207, but image 208
regressed that again. Now it again keeps being locked and you have to
unlock it from the network indicator (which doesn't exactly jump your
eye, so you just tend to forget about it).

This might be similar/a dupe of bug 1333121, but it seems that that bug
never landed? But it did work fine until yesterday.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1333121] Re: SIM Unlock should be shown on boot

The SIM pin unlock dialog worked just fine until yesterday (image 207),
but got broken again with image 208. I filed bug 1361518 about this. Was
this actually reverted for some reason (the dialog only started working
a few days ago), or is there some weird race condition somewhere?

  krillin #205

  [Sorry for the poor description]

On krillin UI freeze randomly. For example on the screenshot it
occurred while dragging the greeter to unlock the phone. I was playing
music, woke up the phone with the power button to turn the display on
and did a right edge swipe to remove the greeter.

This has been reported by several people in the past days, but I
didn't find a pattern to reproduce this bug reliably.

There is no crash in /var/crash and no apport activity.
If I press the power button to turn the screen off/on again, the greeter is
completely displayed (ie. doesn't cover half of the screen like the screenshot)
but the UI is not responsive to gestures or input events. A long press on the
power button shows the shutdown dialog but none of the button can be pressed.

top doesn't show any specific process going crazy

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361610] [NEW] libPCRE3 8.31 regex matching is not working

2014-08-26 Thread Mark Ebbers
Public bug reported:

It looks like that libPCRE3 8.31 included in Ubuntu 13.10 does not
handle regex matching alright. This also affects the libPocoFoundation
RegularExpression classes.

I attached a proof-of-concept which tests a good and bad heystack string
to a regex pattern with Poco, Boost and PCRE. I tested it on two
different machines with the following output:

Status in The Unity 8 shell:

Bug description:
Noticed this when I realised I had the old orange dialer app icon in the
launcher.
There's a couple of things here but they're probably one bug:-

  * Launcher doesn't update icons when they're updated on device via click
updates
  * Moving a newly-pinned app which has an updated icon will show the old icon
when holding finger on it.

  Steps to reproduce.

Have a phone which has an orange dialer icon in the launcher
Realise the icon for that app is now green (see click scope)
  Bring out launcher
Hold down dialer icon, choose unpin
Start dialer app, observe new green icon in launcher
Hold down finger to move or pin the icon.
Observe that while held the icon flips back to the orange icon.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361621] [NEW] gtk_label_set_line_wrap makes hello world application crash

2014-08-26 Thread Miguel Tadeu

Hi,

I'm testing a crash so I came up with this small application:

int main( int argc, char *argv[] )
{
gtk_init (argc, argv);

GtkWidget *window = gtk_window_new (GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);

GtkWidget *label = gtk_label_new(Referenced table has no candidate columns
with a compatible type for group.groupcol.\nHint: source column has type
VARCHAR(45),\nPK of referenced table is INT(11).);
gtk_label_set_line_wrap (GTK_LABEL(label), true);

gtk_container_add (GTK_CONTAINER (window), label);

gtk_widget_show (label);
gtk_widget_show  (window);

gtk_main ();

return 0;
}

I'm building using the following command:

 g++ main.cpp -o main `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0`

ureadahead in 13.04 works. I noticed this difference on lines 195 and 232:
if (set_value (dfd, tracing_enabled,
  vs:
if (set_value (dfd, tracing_on,

This change is mentioned in the changelog as:

  ureadahead (0.100.0-13) raring; urgency=low
* src/trace.c: tracing_enabled is deprecated and gone, switch to tracing_on
  (LP: #1085766).
   -- Andy Whitcroft a...@ubuntu.com Fri, 11 Jan 2013 12:05:17 +

I suspect that this issue occurs in 12.04.3 because it is now using
the newer raring kernel 3.8.0-31. Previous flavors of 12.04 such as
12.04.2 do not seem to exhibit this ureadahead issue, probably because
  the kernel is older 3.5.xx.

  As a proof-of-concept test, I hex edited the 12.04.3 /sbin/ureadahead
to change tracing_enabled to tracing_on. Upon reboot, now
ureadahead works, generates the /var/lib/ureadahead/pack file, and it
does not report status code 5.

Another workaround is to use the ureadahead binary from 13.04, but the
updated /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libext2fs.so.2.4 is also required from
  13.04.

  * Show progress bar on payment button click The payment process has a

  [ Michael Terry ]
  * Show the SIM unlock dialog immediately after booting, and enable its
emergency call button.
  * Always keep indicator/launcher locked state in sync with whether the
user is authenticated. (LP:# 1357230) (LP: #1357230)
  * Allow logging into a desktop or tablet session again, by properly
dismissing old PAM conversations. (LP: #1350878) In a desktop or
tablet, we were accidentally starting two PAM conversations in
sequence on startup. Which is a small bug; it shouldn't normally be
a problem, since each new PAM conversation should kill the old
one.But the way we were killing the old one was subject to a thread
race condition. See, a PAM conversation thread won't exit until all
its prompts are answered. And what we do when we kill a PAM
conversation is to answer all prompts with empty strings. But it's
possible that when we want to kill a PAM conversation that it hasn't
actually gotten to the point of prompting us yet. And when those
prompts do come through, we were treating them as prompts for the
new PAM conversation. So I've changed the PAM conversation logic to
include a pam_handle and compare the handle with the current handle
when being prompted. If it's an old handle, we just dismiss the
prompt with an empty string response.Oh, and I fixed the bug that
caused two prompts on startup in the first place. (But we still need
the above logic anyway, for when you switch users quickly.) (LP:
#1350878)

  * Mark for using language packs.

Bug description:
upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12. This bug tracks the
  transition.

A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME
  was changed

  Some packages are staged in
  https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages

wmbattery and sugar will probably need removing. If a package only
needs a rebuild, mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in
  progress.

  cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding
  gnome-applets - patch at bgo:730588
gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert.
  gnome-control-center: WIP
gnome-packagekit: Upower dropped from newest upstream release. Merge from
debian
gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian
experimental
gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release
gnome-settings-daemon: 3.12 is ready out of the box, however that also
requires gnome-desktop transition. 3.8 and also u-s-d: I have a package that is
mostly working, however had to cherry-pick quite a few patches and may just be
better to backport 3.12 power plugin. (considering g-s-d patches will be
temporary, but u-s-d not so)
kde: works fine with systemd, suspend broken with upstart
mate: all mate packages need rebuilding
  python-dbusmock: lp:1324791
sugar: Upstream bug now filed. Unlikely to be ready in time for 14.10. We
should remove this from the archive till the next upstream release
telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, needs merging
wmbattery: needs removal. orphaned upstream/debian and doesn't work with new
kernals
xfce4-power-manager: Fixed upstream. Merge at lp:1334185. Will need rebuilding
xfce4-session: patch is upstream, needs work to apply with our current
patchset
xfce4-settings: Patch from upstream in ppa
  xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1350425] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 ACR38 card reader. Says card is not found in java applet

2014-08-26 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
You log pcsc_scan output show that the card is working since the ATR is
returned.
I guess it is a bug in your Java program or a mis-configuration.

You can use http://ludovicrousseau.blogspot.fr/2010/06/pcsc-sample-in-
java.html to check your Java runtime is working.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file

isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file

Status in “isc-dhcp” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
After raring upgrade, the dhcp server fails to renew lease file when
it tries to (about every hour).

  The syslog says:
dhcpd: Can't create new lease file: Permission denied

It looks like a permission problem, because

  # chown -R dhcpd:dhcpd /var/lib/dhcp

the above command temporarily solves the issue, until dhcpd is
restarted: at that time, the ownership of the directory and the lease
file is set back to root:root.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361621] Re: gtk_label_set_line_wrap makes hello world application crash

2014-08-26 Thread Filip Sohajek
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at http://askubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file

2014-08-26 Thread Brian Conry
Can someone please confirm my understanding of this issue?

a) Ubuntu has configured dhcpd to drop root privileges
b) Ubuntu has added logic to dhcpd.conf to force the ownership of dhcpd.leases
to root:root
c) Ubuntu is managing the ownership (and permissions?) of the directory in
which dhcpd.leases lives, keeping it as root:root

We at ISC are not really clear what we're supposed to do with this.

Thanks,
Brian Conry

Title:
isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file

Status in “isc-dhcp” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
After raring upgrade, the dhcp server fails to renew lease file when
it tries to (about every hour).

  The syslog says:
dhcpd: Can't create new lease file: Permission denied

It looks like a permission problem, because

  # chown -R dhcpd:dhcpd /var/lib/dhcp

the above command temporarily solves the issue, until dhcpd is
restarted: at that time, the ownership of the directory and the lease
file is set back to root:root.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1316259] Re: rtsp URL's not supported

2014-08-26 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Changing the default UA string to Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.0.4;
Galaxy Nexus Build/IMM76B) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Chrome/18.0.1025.133 Mobile Safari/535.19 (taken from
https://developer.chrome.com/multidevice/user-agent) for all outgoing
requests gets us the right content.

However trying to selectively override the UA string only for the
queries corresponding to espn.com and related domains doesn’t get me the
right content, despite verifying that every single outgoing request when
loading espn.com gets the override. I’m puzzled.

Here is the list of domains for which I set up an override, without
success:

/^http:\/\/espn\.com\//
/^http:\/\/.*\.espn\.(go\.)?com\//
/^http:\/\/.*\.espncdn\.com\//
/^http:\/\/(\w+\.)*go\.com\//
/^http:\/\/\w+\.chartbeat\.(net|com)\//
/^http:\/\/once\.unicornmedia\.com\//
/^http:\/\/ad\.doubleclick\.net\//
/^http:\/\/b\.scorecardresearch\.com\//
/^http:\/\/pagead2\.googlesyndication\.com\//

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361722] [NEW] Number pad is inconsistent between dialer and lock screen

2014-08-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Set the phone to have a PIN code, if it does not have one already.
2. Navigate to the keypad screen of the phone app.
3. Lock the phone and then reveal the unlock screen.

What you see: The number pads have different colors, shapes, sizes,
spacing, font sizes, and even font weights. It's as if they've been
designed by two different people.

What you should see: The two screens use different colors, and the phone
buttons have letters and * + # symbols, but the number pads are
otherwise consistent.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361729] [NEW] Raster images printing as negatives when trying to print PDFs

2014-08-26 Thread Dennis Evangelista
Public bug reported:

When printing PDFs from Ubuntu 14.04 on a network printer, things mostly
print OK but raster images are printed in negative. Vector images
appear unaffected, and the document displays on screen correctly.

The source PDFs are generated with Latex or with Adobe products and seem
OK when viewed on other platforms, and on screen rendering in Ubuntu
using the image viewer works OK too. However, the physical pages coming
out of the printer (an HP laser in this case) are normal for text and
vector stuff but the rasters show up as negative - white is black, etc.

This bug did not occur previously with Ubuntu 12.04 and the same
hardware, network connection, and file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361731] [NEW] Phone keypad allows entering + in unhelpful places

2014-08-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Navigate to the Phone Keypad screen.
2. Hold down the 0 key so that it enters a plus + sign.
3. Hold down the 0 key again.

What happens:
2. + remains visible on the 0 button.
3. Another plus sign is entered.

What should happen: The number 0
2. + disappears from the 0 button.
3. 0 is entered.

Since there is never a phone number that starts with ++, letting people

As far as I can tell, this is true for a plus sign anywhere except as
the first character of a phone number.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file

2014-08-26 Thread Brian Conry
On my second re-read of this thread I made my spot check and noticed

The proper fix is to have dhcpd open the leases file as user dhcpd during start
and not root and having /var/lib/dhcp/ and the leases file belong to
dhcpd:dhcpd.

which implies (correctly) that dhcpd opens dhcpd.leases before dropping
privileges, and also implies that maybe the ownership shennanigans are
due to dhcpd's failure to open the leases file as the non-privileged
user.

This is done because, as things are currently structured, dhcpd
initiates the failover relationships (which requires data from the
dhcpd.leases file) at the same time as it opens the listening sockets
(which requires privileges in the default configuration).

There may also be other information dependencies that I haven't noticed
yet.

We're evaluating our options at this point.

It will be helpful to know if the forcing of ownership to root:root of
the files and directory are being done as an attempt to cope with
dhcpd's behavior or if that is construed as a feature and the desired
state.

  The syslog says:
dhcpd: Can't create new lease file: Permission denied

It looks like a permission problem, because

  # chown -R dhcpd:dhcpd /var/lib/dhcp

the above command temporarily solves the issue, until dhcpd is
restarted: at that time, the ownership of the directory and the lease
file is set back to root:root.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361734] [NEW] Holding down 1 at start of number enters then erases it

2014-08-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Navigate to the keypad screen of the phone app.
2. Clear any number present.
3. Hold down any key except 0 or 1, then release it.
4. Delete the number entered.
5. Hold down 1, then release it.

What happens:
3. The number is entered.
5. The 1 is entered, then disappears.

What should happen:
5. The 1 is entered, and remains.

It's understandable that holding down 0 doesn't enter 0, because it
enters + instead. But there doesn't seem to be any reason for a 1 to
be entered then erased.

** Affects: dialer-app (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361742] [NEW] pcre_printint.src is not provided by libpcre3-dev

2014-08-26 Thread okeuday
Public bug reported:

pcre_printint.src is requried for other dependencies that can be built
from source (for example Erlang/OTP when DEBUG is defined). For some
reason pcre_printint.src is not provided as would be expected within
libpcre3-dev. However, you can see pcre_printint.src within emboss-lib
due to it having its own version of pcre (it seems).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1360579] Re: I dont know

2014-08-26 Thread Filip Sohajek
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1361722] Re: Number pad is inconsistent between dialer and lock screen

What you should see: The two screens use different colors, and the
phone buttons have letters and * + # symbols, but the number pads are
  otherwise consistent.
