Do you have an idea what changed this behaviour? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools-ubuntu- touch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1361124 Title: Image is now writable by default in dual boot Status in “initramfs-tools-ubuntu-touch” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: With recent images (tested 208), the root partition is now writable by default: phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ mount |grep '/ ' /dev/loop0 on / type ext2 (rw,relatime, errors=continue) That's unexpeted and undesired. It also causes tests to actually install test dependencies with dpkg (when running through autopkgtest), instead of using the desired unpack into temp dir mode. Note that there is no /userdata/.writable_image stamp, this happens right after a fresh reinstall from scratch (no update). This is on mako. On the emulator the root partition has always been r/w, which is also highly undesired, but at least not a regression. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1361518] [NEW] image 208 regression: does not ask for SIM pin at startup
Public bug reported: Only a few days ago the phone finally started asking for the PIN right on startup, in a nice full screen page that said Enter SIM pin, followed by the phone pin. This worked up to image 207, but image 208 regressed that again. Now it again keeps being locked and you have to unlock it from the network indicator (which doesn't exactly jump your eye, so you just tend to forget about it). This might be similar/a dupe of bug 1333121, but it seems that that bug never landed? This has been reported by several people in the past days, but I didn't find a pattern to reproduce this bug reliably. There is no crash in /var/crash and no apport activity. The error while tracing notice lead me to compare ureadahead sources between 12.04.3 and 13.04. Note that ureadahead in 13.04 works. I noticed this difference on lines 195 and 232: if (set_value (dfd, tracing_enabled, vs: if (set_value (dfd, tracing_on, This change is mentioned in the changelog as: ureadahead (0.100.0-13) raring; urgency=low * src/trace.c: tracing_enabled is deprecated and gone, switch to tracing_on (LP: #1085766). -- Andy Whitcroft a...@ubuntu.com Fri, 11 Jan 2013 12:05:17 + I suspect that this issue occurs in 12.04.3 because it is now using the newer raring kernel 3.8.0-31. Previous flavors of 12.04 such as 12.04.2 do not seem to exhibit this ureadahead issue, probably because the kernel is older 3.5.xx. As a proof-of-concept test, I hex edited the 12.04.3 /sbin/ureadahead to change tracing_enabled to tracing_on. Upon reboot, now ureadahead works, generates the /var/lib/ureadahead/pack file, and it does not report status code 5. Another workaround is to use the ureadahead binary from 13.04, but the updated /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libext2fs.so.2.4 is also required from 13.04. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Release: 12.04 $ apt-cache policy ureadahead ureadahead: Installed: 0.100.0-12 Candidate: 0.100.0-12 Version table: *** 0.100.0-12 0 500 http://mirror.peer1.net/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ureadahead/+bug/1237042/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

(LP:# 1357230) (LP: #1357230) * Allow logging into a desktop or tablet session again, by properly dismissing old PAM conversations. (LP: #1350878) In a desktop or tablet, we were accidentally starting two PAM conversations in sequence on startup. Which is a small bug; it shouldn't normally be a problem, since each new PAM conversation should kill the old one.But the way we were killing the old one was subject to a thread race condition. See, a PAM conversation thread won't exit until all its prompts are answered. And what we do when we kill a PAM conversation is to answer all prompts with empty strings. But it's possible that when we want to kill a PAM conversation that it hasn't actually gotten to the point of prompting us yet. And when those prompts do come through, we were treating them as prompts for the new PAM conversation. So I've changed the PAM conversation logic to include a pam_handle and compare the handle with the current handle when being prompted. If it's an old handle, we just dismiss the prompt with an empty string response.Oh, and I fixed the bug that caused two prompts on startup in the first place. (But we still need the above logic anyway, for when you switch users quickly.) [Touch-packages] [Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file
Can someone please confirm my understanding of this issue? a) Ubuntu has configured dhcpd to drop root privileges b) Ubuntu has added logic to dhcpd.conf to force the ownership of dhcpd.leases to root:root c) Ubuntu is managing the ownership (and permissions?) of the directory in which dhcpd.leases lives, keeping it as root:root We at ISC are not really clear what we're supposed to do with this. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1361729] [NEW] Raster images printing as negatives when trying to print PDFs
Public bug reported: When printing PDFs from Ubuntu 14.04 on a network printer, things mostly print OK but raster images are printed in negative. Vector images appear unaffected, and the document displays on screen correctly. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file
On my second re-read of this thread I made my spot check and noticed The proper fix is to have dhcpd open the leases file as user dhcpd during start and not root and having /var/lib/dhcp/ and the leases file belong to dhcpd:dhcpd. which implies (correctly) that dhcpd opens dhcpd.leases before dropping privileges, and also implies that maybe the ownership shennanigans are due to dhcpd's failure to open the leases file as the non-privileged user. This is done because, as things are currently structured, dhcpd initiates the failover relationships (which requires data from the dhcpd.leases file) at the same time as it opens the listening sockets (which requires privileges in the default configuration). There may also be other information dependencies that I haven't noticed yet. We're evaluating our options at this point. It will be helpful to know if the forcing of ownership to root:root of the files and directory are being done as an attempt to cope with dhcpd's behavior or if that is construed as a feature and the desired state. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186662 Title: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file Status in “isc-dhcp” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: After raring upgrade, the dhcp server fails to renew lease file when it tries to (about every hour). The syslog says: dhcpd: Can't create new lease file: Permission denied It looks like a permission problem, because # chown -R dhcpd:dhcpd /var/lib/dhcp the above command temporarily solves the issue, until dhcpd is restarted: at that time, the ownership of the directory and the lease file is set back to root:root. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1360579] Re: I dont know
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1361722] Re: Number pad is inconsistent between dialer and lock screen
This is not the case any more, at least not to that extent. ** Attachment added: pin screens.gif https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1361722/+attachment/4187451/+files/pin%20screens.gif -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1361722 Title: Number pad is inconsistent between dialer and lock screen Status in “dialer-app” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu 14.10 r203 1. Set the phone to have a PIN code, if it does not have one already. 2. Navigate to the keypad screen of the phone app. 3. Lock the phone and then reveal the unlock screen. What you see: The number pads have different colors, shapes, sizes, spacing, font sizes, and even font weights. It's as if they've been designed by two different people. What you should see: The two screens use different colors, and the phone buttons have letters and * + # symbols, but the number pads are otherwise consistent.
