[Touch-packages] [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working
This bug affects me too..it just started appearing from nowhere.. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS has been the buggiest is release till date. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316873 Title: Left mouse button stops working Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron 15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible that the plugin is to blame. Symptom === The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to function as normal. When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as normal. This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will appreciate any soltion or workaround. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1363623] [NEW] [ASUS-A7K laptop] screen brightness dimmed after kernel update
Public bug reported: Hello, Following the update from kernel version 3.13.0-34 to 3.13.0-35-generic the screen brightness got a lot dimmer. The Fn+F5/F6 control keys still work, in that the display gets dimmer and brighter, but the maximum brightness is too low. When starting ubuntu using the previous kernel release the display brightness is alright. I've looked around the web for ways to change the display brightness and I checked that both files /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness and /sys/class/backlight/radeon_bl0/brightness have the maximum values, 15 and 255 respectively. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1176046] Re: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports
I am experiencing a similar or same issue on Ubuntu 14.04 Server 64-bit. The Dhclient is listening on both ports 68 and 42370. I have no experience with dhclient so I cannot decide if this is normal behaviour. Why the extra port? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176046 Title: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports Status in “isc-dhcp” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Ubuntu 13.04 Server 64-bit. Fresh install. Only one network adapter. dhclient process is listening on two randomly chosen udp ports in addition to the usual port 68. This appears to be a bug in the discovery code for probing information on interfaces in the system. Initial research of the code also suggested omapi, but adding omapi port to /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf only opened a forth port with the two random udp ports still enabled. Version of included distro dhclient was 4.2.4. I also tested with the latest isc-dhclient-4.2.5-P1 and got the same results. Debian has the same bug: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10t=95273p=495605#p495605 One impact of these random ports is that security hardening becomes more difficult. The purpose of these random ports and security implications are unknown. Example netstat -lnp output: udp0 0 0.0.0.0:21117 0.0.0.0:* 2659/dhclient udp0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 2659/dhclient udp6 0 0 :::45664:::* 2659/dhclient To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1176046/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The 12.04 version had a mute checkbox in addition to the slider. When the slider is moved to the bottom, everything is muted: Master, Headphone, Speaker, PCM. Move the slider up and only Master is unmuted. My computer has three hardware buttons for audio. The mute/unmute mutes but never unmutes. Same issue. Known problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/397819/ubuntu-13-10-and- xfce4-no-sound-at-all With 2012.04 I could just uncheck the mute button and things were back to normal. The only way is ALT+TAB. What schould happen: If a nautilus window is already open and minimized clicking the launcher icon should bring up that window. This was the behavior of nautilus windows in Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1363723] [NEW] QTextEdit jumps to keyboard cursor when losing focus
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS libqt5gui5 version: 5.2.1+dfsg-1ubuntu14.2 I am running a stock install of Ubuntu 14.04.1, fully updated as of this writing. If you are using the ibus input method (chosen by default in Ubuntu), there is a problem that can cause QTextEdit to lose its scroll position when it loses focus. I first noticed this inside of Qt Creator but it actually affects all Qt 5 programs. Here are the steps to reproduce it: - Fill a QTextEdit (for example, a Qt Creator editor window) with enough text so that there is a scrollbar. - Make sure the text insertion cursor is at the bottom of the file. - With your mouse wheel, scroll up so that the text insertion cursor is no longer visible on-screen. - Now click on the containing window's title bar, or choose an item from a menu, or click on another widget in the window. Just something to cause focus to change. What I expect to happen: Nothing should happen to the QTextEdit's scroll position. It should stay where it is. What actually happens: The QTextEdit scrolls down so the text insertion cursor is visible, as if I had typed a character. This is actually a known bug in the ibus input method plugin (libibusplatforminputcontextplugin.so), which is installed as part of Ubuntu's libqt5gui5 package: https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-40755 A fix was committed upstream to the qtbase 5.4 branch: https://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qtbase/commit/e5f3a25253263b67f3f211d76ed76ddc2298916e I don't know about what the release schedule looks like for trusty and Qt, but I'd like to respectfully request that this patch somehow makes its way into 14.04 for my own sanity while working inside of Qt Creator. :-) ** Affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to qtbase-opensource-src in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1363723 Title: QTextEdit jumps to keyboard cursor when losing focus Status in “qtbase-opensource-src” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS libqt5gui5 version: 5.2.1+dfsg-1ubuntu14.2 I am running a stock install of Ubuntu 14.04.1, fully updated as of this writing. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect this thing to forward my ASCII keystrokes to my terminal without eating 15% of a core. I uploaded a youtube video to express my disgust with this program's ridiculously bad performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPJs0pGOhxo Maybe this ibus component is the second coming of Jesus for people who speak Chinese. If so, great. As for me, I don't need other input methods very much, I just want plain normal ASCII input to get through to my programs efficiently. unity-control-center depends on ibus.
