[Touch-packages] [Bug 1367907] Re: Segfault in gc with cyclic trash
+14 for the upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to python3.4 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1367907 Title: Segfault in gc with cyclic trash Status in oslo.messaging: Invalid Status in Python: Fix Released Status in python3.4 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in python3.4 source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Bug description: Trusty's python3.4 package is affected by python bug http://bugs.python.org/issue21435. This bug was fixed in http://hg.python.org/cpython/rev/64ba3f2de99c. Trusty should pull this fix into the python3.4 package. Note this definitely affects some python projects. `git clone https://git.openstack.org/openstack/oslo.messaging cd oslo.messaging edit tox.ini file, copy py33 target and rename to py34 tox -repy34` will segfault due to this bug. With previous versions of python unaffected by this bug there is no segfaulting. Now for details, broken using: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release: 14.04 $ apt-cache policy python3.4 python3.4: Installed: 3.4.0-2ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.4.0-2ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.4.0-2ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status If I install the following python3.4 packages for Unicorn on Trusty this bug is corrected. The Unicorn packages here on lp for python3.4 are python3.4.1 which includes the bug fix for this bug. libpython3.4_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb libpython3.4-dev_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb libpython3.4-stdlib_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb python3.4-dbg_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb python3.4-minimal_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb libpython3.4-dbg_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb libpython3.4-minimal_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb python3.4_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb python3.4-dev_3.4.1-10ubuntu1_amd64.deb Note I installed the -dbg packages too just in case I needed to use gdb but that wasn't necessary as the test case works with these newer versions of python. $ apt-cache policy python3.4 python3.4: Installed: 3.4.1-10ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.4.1-10ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.4.1-10ubuntu1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.4.0-2ubuntu1 0 500 http://az2.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages [Impact] This python bug can cause python processes that tickle it to segfault python. This means there could be a significant number of python packages that are broken when run under this interpreter. The fix for this bug should be backported to avoid seemingly random and hard to debug segfaults from happening when users use python. Unicorn's 3.4.1 packages fix this bug by including the patch at http://hg.python.org/cpython/rev/64ba3f2de99c. [Test Case] There is a test case detailed in the upstream bug http://bugs.python.org/issue21435, though I have been doing the following instead: git clone https://git.openstack.org/openstack/oslo.messaging cd oslo.messaging git fetch https://review.openstack.org/openstack/oslo.messaging refs/changes/90/118790/2 git checkout FETCH_HEAD tox -repy34 # This should end with segfaulting test runners. Note if you don't have tox installed you will need to install version 1.7.2 or greater. `sudo pip install tox==1.7.2` will do this. [Regression Potential] The patch in question is small. If we go straight to python 3.4.1 the diff will be larger but that isn't necessary to fix this particular issue. The biggest regression potential would be that the garbage collector is newly broken by the this bug fix. Considering that the garbage collector is already broken and this patch comes with test cases to check it is less broken the risk of regression here is less than the pain of dealing with this bug. [Touch-packages] [Bug 900304] Re: Effective permissions and long group names - getfacl: malloc(): memory corruption
This version has expired ** Changed in: acl (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to acl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/900304 Title: Effective permissions and long group names - getfacl: malloc(): memory corruption Status in acl package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I have found a combination of ACLs that, when set on a file on an Active Directory joined Ubuntu 10.04 server, will crash the getfacl program upon reading the ACL entries. The crash appears under the following conditions: 1) getfacl is about to list effective permissions (i.e. limited by mask) for at least two ACL entries. 2) At least one of these entries has a user/group name longer than 32 characters. 3) The output of getfacl is not redirected nor piped to another program/file. Normally, user/group names longer than 32 characters are prevented from being created on the local system, but they are possible when using central authentication tools such as Centrify DirectControl and Likewise Open. The crash happens when effective permissions are to be listed, and only when the output of getfacl is written directly to terminal. Running the test on a separate, non-AD joined host, using regular local users and groups of maximum 32 characters, does not yield any errors. I have tested and confirmed this bug on two independent systems, both running Ubuntu 10.04 Server, with one using CentrifyDC Express 4.4.3 for AD integration and the other one using Likewise-Open 6. === HOW TO REPRODUCE === Since the bug does not appear when using locally valid names, it may be required to install centrifydc, likewise-open or another tool in order to create a test environment with user/group names longer than 32 characters. Perhaps LDAP can be used too? [Touch-packages] [Bug 606491] Re: start: Job is already running: anacron
Hi Stuart, Note that Anacron is not a daemon; it needs to be executed at boot time and intermittently thereafter (via that cron.d script). It doesn't work to have Anacron run only at boot time and Cron thereafter, because Anacron maintains state in /var/spool/anacron/ that needs to be updated each time it runs. If you look at /etc/crontab, you'll see that Cron does relatively little when Anacron is installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/606491 Title: start: Job is already running: anacron Status in anacron package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: anacron Every day cron sends me this email: Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2010 07:30:01 +1200 From: Cron Daemon root@hostname To: root@hostname Subject: Cron root@hostname start -q anacron || : start: Job is already running: anacron I've tried to find out why it was running twice, but I could only find one copy of anacron in the cron directories... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480554] [NEW] High costs due to SMS being sent multiple times when having a bad network connection
Public bug reported: When having a bad network connection, Ubuntu tries to send SMS multiple times but fails to recognize which messages have already been sent, resulting in very high costs due to the same message actually being sent several times. I found this when looking through my provider's monthly reports and I remember being on train journeys with very bad network connections on these days. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480554] Re: High costs due to SMS being sent multiple times when having a bad network connection
What I do not fully understand is: AFAIK SMS is sent upstream to the provider with AT cmds, like this example: AT+CMGF=1 OK AT+CMGS=+49170xx CRThis is the text message. +CMGS: 4711 OK (+CMGF=1 is text mode, =1 PDU mode). The response from the provider could be OK or ERROR. Have you looked into the MySQL database in the phone to see what is there about the messages. If you need how to look into, see here: http://www.unixarea.de/bq/bq-aquaris-e45-ubuntu.txt (chap. 15). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to telephony-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480554 Title: High costs due to SMS being sent multiple times when having a bad network connection Status in telephony-service package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When having a bad network connection, Ubuntu tries to send SMS multiple times but fails to recognize which messages have already been sent, resulting in very high costs due to the same message actually being sent several times. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480567] [NEW] boot partition to small on standard installation.
Public bug reported: I made a STANDARD installation of Ubuntu 14.04. Now every then and now, the system reports that there is not enough space on the boot partition. I did empty the trash (why is THIS on /boot?) I did apt-get clean and stuff several times. I did remove old, unused installations. And now it pops up again. First I would like you to make the boot partition a few bigger on the STANDARD installation. That's why I report this as a bug. Second, I would like you to make that automatic: on every new install on boot, first at least remove the old installations (kernels), empty the trash and do an apt-get clean. I am reporting that from an user view, I know I could do my own batch file but not my grandpa or the neighbour or whatever, you know. Thanks in advance for the popup Not enough space on /boot. [ Test Case ] Install a metapackage (say, ubuntu-standard), and then apt-get --purge autoremove ubuntu-standard and check that only that package is removed, rather than large chunks of its dependencies. Further, also run the test case from comment 2 of bug #1429041 and make sure the previous fix didn't regress. [ Regression Potential ] My fix was tested locally against both test cases and passes with flying colours, so I don't see how this can make things any worse than they already are. [ Original Report ] In current trusty, vivid, and wily, when you install ubuntu-minimal (from the metapackages section) in a clean chroot, some 75ish packages are installed. If you then apt-get --purge autoremove ubuntu-minimal, some large portion (between 20 and 40, depending on the target release) of those dependencies are removed again. If this test is repeated putting the release pocket version of apt/libapt on hold, the purge/autoremove only removes the metapackage, but none of its dependencies, so this is likely a regression brought on from the previous autoremoval fix. This bug is release-critical for the 14.04.3 point release, as we install using metapackages instead of tasks in point releases, thus meaning that anyone removing ubuntu-desktop for any reason will end up with dozens (potentially hundreds) of packages on the autoremoval list. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480621] [NEW] lsb_release doesn't function as shipped
Public bug reported: On a fresh Ubuntu 15.04 system, the /usr/bin/lsb_release program doesn't function as described in the documentation. After poking around a bit, it seems to require the lsb 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8 package. Also, the documentation refers to a man page which doesn't exist (without the lsb package). In any case, I was trying to find out which distribution I was running for a multi-platform program, and the `lsb_release -v` isn't very helpful as shipped. So... it's either a documentation problem, or a missing lsb 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8 package problem. I'll let you guys sort it out. It's broken in 15.10 (wily) pre-release, as well. I know documentation issues aren't the same level of critical as a kernel defect, but I thought you'd want to know. -Erik Bennett ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: lsb-release 4.1+Debian11ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-25.26-generic 3.19.8-ckt2 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-25-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.1 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Aug 1 16:29:13 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-07-25 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet - Release i386 (20150422) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: lsb UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lsb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lsb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480621 Title: lsb_release doesn't function as shipped Status in lsb package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On a fresh Ubuntu 15.04 system, the /usr/bin/lsb_release program doesn't function as described in the documentation. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1471504] Re: X11 crashes when opening LibreOffice
rjasmin, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open a terminal, navigate to your /var/crash directory and file your report with: sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. By default, this sends the crash to the Ubuntu Error Tracker infrastructure, which is different than Launchpad. For more on this, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker . However, if after doing this you would still like to have a crash report posted to Launchpad, for example to ease triage and add others to your report, one would need to open the following file via a terminal: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this report since the process outlined above will deal with this issue more efficiently. Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480607] [NEW] apparmor python3.5 support regressed in 2.10-0ubuntu1
Public bug reported: The apparmor 2.10-0ubuntu1 package that has been uploaded to wily- proposed build-depends on python3-all-dev. However, unlike version 2.9.2-0ubuntu2 in wily, this new version fails to provide a python3-libapparmor package that's built against both available versions of python3 currently supported in wily. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1479207] Re: Never-MarkAuto-Sections not working correctly
** Branch linked: lp:ubuntu/wily-proposed/apt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1479207 Title: Never-MarkAuto-Sections not working correctly Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in apt source package in Precise: New Status in apt source package in Trusty: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Vivid: New Status in apt package in Debian: New Bug description: [ SRU Justification ] Not only is this behaviour broken for every day use, but it also completely breaks livefs generation for ubuntukylin, and causes most of $flavour-desktop to be on the autoremove list in any point release livefs, making this bug point-release critical. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. The GTK FileChooser has a keystroke (ALT+UP_ARROW) for moving to the parent directory. However this keystroke is inactive when the file list context-search is active, and pressing 'ESC' to deactive the context-search seems unintuitive. Example: 1. gedit 2. file...open... 3. move up to top level directory 4. type 'usr' followed by enter 5. type 'shar', but don't press enter 5. type alt-up (nothing happens) In this case it would be nice if the 'alt-up' keystroke could bubble up to the FileChooser and not just be ignored by the context search box. This was triggered by the automatic update every day, and as a solution I killed the processes named `http` spawned by apt, and removed the offending file from lists/partial manually. Until now, `apt-get update` and `apt-get upgrade` had been working. However, today, when I tried `apt-get update`, it got stuck in some file, continuously increasing its size when at 100%. I tried inspecting the file to see if there is a repetition of data, and there seems to be, as I have suspected. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1465814] Re: Apt did the opposite of what I told it to do when it asked me a yes or no question
This usually happens because your input buffer fed some garbage to apt before the 'y'. Perhaps you accidentally hit enter twice on the command, or a space, or any other random key, really. It's hard to say exactly how or why, without having been there, but it aborts when it can't parse the input (which is a sane thing to do), so it wasn't so much that it was doing the wrong thing based on your input, but that your input was, for some reason, not what it was expecting. Blame your fingers, your terminal, your ssh session, your cat that distracted you before hitting a random control sequence on your keyboard, it's a bit hard to tell after the fact, so closing this as invalid. ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1465814 Title: Apt did the opposite of what I told it to do when it asked me a yes or no question Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Today I executed the command: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade And this was the output: Reading package lists... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1389761] Re: Don't show the volume overlay when changing the volume with the slider
hmm, you don't seem to understand... unless i have an app that constantly plays back something (game or music player) the role used to play back my sound is never activated. in case of sound effects in an app the volume control points 99% of the time to the main system volume, not to the role your app uses to play back the effect. if your slider adjusts the active output role it will always adjust the main volume, not the volume of your sound effect. to visualize what i mean, perhaps do the following: * install the OMGUbuntu app * turn the main volume down so that the indicator icon just doesn't show any of the curved lines in front of the speaker icon (30% or so) * open OMGUbuntu * keep your eyes on the indicator icon and tap a link/photo/etc in the app (that generates a sound effect) you will see the volume jump to full volume the moment the effect plays back, your role just changed. if the app had a slider in its settings for controlling the effect volume this slider would never control the volume you actually want to control, unless the slider element has an option to define it (this element can indeed default to the currently active role if unset, but unless you actually want the main control or unless your app constantly produces sound you would want a way to override this default to point to the correct knobs suited for the application) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to indicator-sound in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389761 Title: Don't show the volume overlay when changing the volume with the slider Status in indicator-sound package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in ubuntu-system-settings package in Ubuntu: New Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The overlay and the slider are redundant when the user changes the volume with the slider and the overlay shouldn't be displayed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480451] Re: systemd does not depend on dbus
It recommends d-bus, and recommends are installed by default.
