Bug description:
  I opened a photo from My Photos scope Preview  Open in the gallery.
  When I return to the scope, fully refreshed, the photo does not
  display rotated.

  I would expect dash toolkit to honor the edited state of a photo and
  display it rotated as appropriate.

  Note:
  Gallery app uses a URI that starts with image://thumbnailer/absPathToPhoto to 
display photos with correct rotation. However, scopes require the URI starts 
with photo://. Without that, the Open button on the preview does not open the 
photo in gallery.

This bug is a loser.  Either let it expire or kill it.  I didn't realize how 
different Linux is to UNIX (like abstract sockets).  Sorry.
There's still a problem, but I've got a lot more diagnostic work before I can

  I type quite fast, with lots of non-latin unicode characters. I set up 
.XCompose to map alt g a to the Greek letter α, alt g b to the 
Greek letter β, etc. Typing the first at any speed renders letter α. But one 
has to noticably slow down to make sure that  alt g b indeed gives β, and 
not (now typed at full speed) b. This is not a question of proximity between 
keyboard keys since g f, g h, g v, etc are as close together as g 
b and produce at any speed: φηϖντψ etc.
  I have not checked if the bug exists for non-Greek characters.

Bug description:
  i am not sure if it started with OTA4 or OTA5 but since one of the
  recent OTA upgrades my arale takes between half a second and one
  second before an app takes input again when one switches it from
  background back into focus. i'm talking about apps that were only
  sigstopped, not OOM killed here (i.e. no restart involved, just
  sigcont).

  this used to be instant before and gives a weird feeling of
  sluggishness.

Title:
  Lots of thumbnail requests with invalid size

Bug description:
  When using scopes, the thumbnailer gets loads of requests with
  QSize(-1,-1) from the shell. For example, with a bunch of videos
  recorded, run up the video scope and go to My Videos. The shell asks
  for a thumbnail at QSize(-1,-1) for the tiny thumbnail that appears to
  the left of each list entry.

  The problem with this is that the thumbnailer interprets this to mean
  give me the largest size you can (limited to a 1920x1920 bounding
  box). That's very expensive, especially in terms of disk space,
  because that 1920 thumbnail ends up going into the cache, needlessly
  hogging space.

  We are about to add a qWarning message to the QML side that reports
  invalid QSize requests. For now, we are going to retain the old
  behavior, but this will turn into an error soon.

  The most effective way to use the thumbnailer is to simply ask for an
  image in the desired size, with neither width nor height of -1. The
  thumbnailer will efficiently produce a thumbnail for that. (We do lots
  of internal caching to avoid extracting or downloading a thumbnail
  unnecessarily.)

  The thumbnailer may deliver a thumbnail that is smaller than what was
  asked for (because it never up-scales) so, if asked for a thumbnail of
  size 256, it's guaranteed not to be larger, but might be smaller (if
  the original image is smaller than what was asked for).

  Could you please adjust the shell behavior to ask for specific, valid
  sizes only?

  Running a tail -f on ~/.cache/upstart/dbus.log allows you to see the
  requests as they are made. Each request shows the size that was asked
  for.

  I have two 3mm audio jacks (green) on my computer. One in the front
  (attached to the case) and another on the back (attached to the mother
  board). I have headphone connected to the front, and an amp that I've
  been using for a while connected to the back. I dual boot Windows 8.1
  and both jacks work when I'm on Windows. However, on Ubuntu when I
  open the sound options it seems to only recognize the headphones.
  Despite showing two devices, both seem to control the headphones. The
  amp works, but only when I disconnect it from the back and connect it

  Saviq suggested the reviews widget should therefor have an optional
  avatar.

  sharing capabilities for scopes, there will be design considerations
  for new cards layouts and preview widgets. This work is in progress.

  However, in order to display the user's avatar next to their comment
  on preview screen (as described in the comments), we can currently use
  Art_Header_horizontal (L) only using header part of that card to
  achive this result.

That error looks like one of the cryptic messages you'll get if you
haven't installed drivers for Mir yet. They're not automatically
installed unless you have a phone image, or have installed the full
desktop-next stack. Reasons

Try this:

or
   sudo apt-get install mir-graphics-drivers-android

  second before an app takes input again when one switches it from
  background back into focus. i'm talking about apps that were only
  sigstopped, not OOM killed here (i.e. no restart involved, just
  sigcont).

  this used to be instant before and gives a weird feeling of
  sluggishness.

Bug description:
  To implement system-settings APN editor reliably there has to be a Tag
  field with is an arbitrary non user-visible string that can be set for
  any Context.

  We also need org.ofono.ConnectionManager.AddContext which takes a
  variant map with prepopulated values for the context to be created, so
  we can have a function in QOfono
  QOfonoConnectionManager::addContextWithTag(QString tag).

  - Data connection is lost.

  Tested in single SIM and dual SIM mode, with two different SIM cards
  from different operators.

Bug description:
  This bug is bring reported as of network-manager version
  0.9.10.0-4ubuntu13 ( latest in vivid at bug filing time ).

  The code in src/devices/wwan/nm-modem-ofono.c needs some optimization.

  Currently, the function ofono_read_contexts() is triggered when the
  modem becoming enabled, which happens when the three private boolean
  flags modem_online, gprs_powered, and gprs_attached are all TRUE, or
  when a new context is detected via a 'ContextAdded' signal sent by
  ofono's ConnectionManager interface.

  This function in turn, synchronously reads ( with a 2s timeout ) the
  ConnectionManager's 'SubscriberIdentity' property ( aka 'IMSI' ), and
  then calls the DBus method com.canonical.NMOfono.ReadImsiContexts,
  which triggers the ofono plugin to re-read the contexts directly from
  ofono's gprs settings file ( found in /var/lib/ofono/IMSI/ ).

  This could be optimized by instead having NM read the IMSI whenever
  the ConnectionManager's 'Powered' property is set, caching the value,
  and watching for changes to the 'SubscriberIdentity'.

  Also it's curious that the contexts aren't re-read when a
  'ContextRemoved' signal is received.

Title:
  Cellular data not activated after exiting flight mode

Bug description:
  Cellular data is not activated in ~50% of the cases in arale after
  setting then unsetting flight mode.

  I obtained the attached log this way:

  1. Disabled wifi (to have less noise) and removed syslog (to make smaller the 
attached one)
  2. Reboot
  3. See cellular data is on: route is right, I have network access
  4. Set flight mode
  5. Unset flight mode
  6. Data is not restored even after waiting for a few minutes. ccmni0 
interface is down.

  list-modems shows that the modem is data-attached
  list-contexts output shows that no IP context has been activated

  Doing

  usr/share/ofono/scripts/activate-context 1
  sudo ip route add default dev ccmni0
  ping 8.8.8.8

  works and I receive the ping responses.

Bug description:
  While trying to reproduce another bug related with the last seen value
  from the access points, I noticed that network manager is never really
  scanning for new access points on my desktop, not even when not
  connected.

  $ sudo nmcli g logging level debug domains wifi_scan

  Then powered an access point, but was never really able to see it.
  From syslog, noticed that there is never really a scan, which explains
  why the ap never goes away and why it is not able to find it in the
  first place.

  If I force a scan via cmdline it works as expected (and I noticed a
  scan also happens when changing connections).

  Was also able to reproduce this issue on mako, with the following image:

  Add a new dbus rule to the default template
  Provide a mediator (unity8) to control this, so it can restore the screen 
blanking when the app is not active or has been closed
  Prompt the user for confirmation the first time the app accesses it
  use the trust store to avoid prompts each time

  This is due to Flickable width to be 0, (Column's parent is the
  Flickable.contentItem, not the flickable)

  Solution is to give an ID to your flickable (i.e. id: flickable), and set the 
width of the column using that (width:

column.height

Expected:
ListItem with user avatar an an image/attachment. I want to be able to detect
the click on the avatar or the image, so I need to place MouseAreas within the
list view. This used to work with the old ListViewItemWithActions.

Actual:
ListItem does not allow a swipe when it starts on one of those mouse areas.
Meaning, you have to look for free space where you can drag the item, which
is not intuitive and clearly a UX annoyance.

UX Fix:

When a mouse is plugged in, the leading and trailing actions should be
available in the contextual menu. Please look at

  Requirement: DUT with active sim and car that supports Bluetooth phones 
(Skoda Superb 2013 in my case)

  1. Connect the DUT to the car
  2. Check the console display for the strength of signal

  EXPECTED:
  I expect the display to show a similar strength to that on the phone

  ACTUAL:
  The signal strength is always at 0% however the display does show the Network 
connected to so there is some sort of feedback via bluetooth that there is a 
connection.

Bug description:
  since OTA-4 i get the headphone volume randomly set to the highest
  setting. it can only be set when headphones are plugged in and
  playback has started, so I have no way of checking beforehand. (of
  course I can choose to keep headphones away from the ears.)

  
  this occurs both in the music app and in the podcast app podbird. also occurs 
sometimes during playback, when notification sound is played. 

  not a security issue, but rather a quite serious hearing health issue. 
  I'm on BQ Aquaris E4.5

  STEPS:
  Requirement: DUT with active sim and car that supports Bluetooth phones 
(Skoda Superb 2013 in my case)

  1. Connect the DUT to the car
  2. Check the console display for the strength of signal

  EXPECTED:
  I expect the display to show a similar strength to that on the phone

  ACTUAL:
  The signal strength is always at 0% however the display does show the Network 
connected to so there is some sort of feedback via bluetooth that there is a 
connection.

  1. Install the latest gcc5 test image
  2. Get to the welcome wizard
  3. Tap the language drop down
  4. Reboots
  5. Tap the Continue Button

  I expect the welcome wizard to work the same as it does on vivid

  ACTUAL:
  Any option you tap on as soon as the signal is received it reboots the phone.

  In latest Kubuntu (15.04, vivid) the system preference application is 
repeatingly crashing.
  Steps to reproduce: just open it, change a few settings switch to a new pane. 
Do that as long as required till the crash is happening (takes only very few 
attempts)

  The relevant bug on kde.org is
  https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344651- which says that this is a
  bug in Qt and it is resolved there in 5.4.2 (see
  https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-43376 ).

I'll start preparing the patch for landing to wily  vivid-overlay.
There's another qtbase landing in QA queue so that must go in first.

@Gary: I can take your patch from here regarding getting it on to
images. A big thank you for developing the patch! Upstream may have
other suggestions on how to solve the problem and contribute an improved
patch to https://codereview.qt-project.org/ directly - but we can carry
the current small workaround patch until there's a better solution.

  information in /var/log/syslog, I see that syslog is being flooded by
  Invalid response packet from host messages from avahi-daemon.

  I searched around to see why this might be and ran across the following avahi 
mailing list post along with a patch to fix it:

  I would say you can safely ignore it, since any machine on your
  network running a recent OSX version will cause these messages.
  Here's a patch with what we change to avoid these messages flooding
  syslog.

  The icon theme got a nice update that made them all much lighter (as
  in weight), but also resulted in some of them being less readable,
  especially in a bright environment (aka. very often when you use a
  phone outside).

  See the attached image that's a combination of high volume, low volume
  and muted. The stroke through the muted speaker is very light, almost
  a one-pixel stroke on the Aquaris E4.5 phone, where the icons are
  displayed at 26x26 pixels. The volume indication (the two arches on
  the right of the speaker) seems unnecessary when muted, too, and just
  add confusion.

  In the low-volume case the arches seem equally unnecessary, since
  apart from spotting the arches you need to compare their colour to see
  how much of the indication is active vs. not. Could we not lose the
  inactive arches altogether?

  What you see: No data sources available

  What you should see: Something less miserable.

  As someone who's just started using the phone, I probably have no idea
  that the lock screen tries to show me statistics of my usage or
  whatever. And even if I do know, I probably don't care. Why, then, is
  the phone complaining to me about its failure? What am I supposed to
  do about it?

  A simple solution would be to show no text at all in this situation.

  This is not a duplicate of bug 1339002, because stats on the welcome
  screen are on by default. However, fixing that bug might fix this bug
  too.

We don't, but users will! If Joe average will get a phone in his hand
first, he will swipe on the lists, right? Then he will see the desktop,
the same UI, and will try to swipe as well. That won't work there, but
then (s)he will realise it'll be right click... then (s)he will be
confused, kicks the whole baggage into the trash bin and will use
Mac/Windows/whatever.

Of course user won't swipe with mouse, will drag. And I know it will be
a right click, it is already a right click.

  If rsyslog is configured to forward logs into PostgreSQL with ompgsl,
  when restarting rsyslog with restart rsyslog and producing logs,
  rsyslog hangs until being restarted. Then it processes some logs, but
  the problem quickly happens again.

  This issue has been fixed in rsyslog 7.4.10. The changelog says:
  * If rsyslog was set to auto-background itself (default code behaviour, but 
many distros now turn it off for good reason), ompgsql could not properly 
connect. This could even lead to a segfault. The core reason was that a PG 
session handle was kept open over a fork, something that is explicitely 
forbidden in the PG API.

Bug description:
  Fullscreen support just landed in webbrowser-app (see bug #1308947).

  The current implementation assumes websites are well-behaved and provide a 
button or any other user-friendly way of exiting fullscreen (video players 
usually provide a button for this, see e.g. youtube).
  If the website doesn’t provide such a functionality, then the user can end up 
trapped in fullscreen mode with no way to get back to a windowed state and 
access the chrome. When that happens, the only fix is to close the browser 
app, thus closing all open tabs.

  The issue can be observed by browsing to
  http://webcodehelpers.com/demo/html5api/html5-fullscreen-api.html and
  tapping the 728 Div Fullscreen button.

  We need designs for the fullscreen mode, with at the very least a
  button or gesture to exit it.

OK, the first bug 1481570 has a fix up for review. That's faulty end-of-
multifinger gesture detection. Probably doesn't apply to Unity, just the
Mir demo server..

The second bug (the Mir part of this one) seems to be a simple matter of
faulty end-of-gesture detection introduced in r2652. The exact problem
seems to be the new SurfaceInputDispatcher::dispatch_touch gesture_owner
logic that was introduced. It assumes there's no shell that might
consume your touch events in handling app-switching gestures. If the
shell does correctly consume those touch events that triggered the app
switch then the gesture_owner logic introduced in r2652 doesn't work and
it keeps delivering touches to the old window (which is now hidden)
instead of the new one.

So that needs fixing in Mir. But it doesn't mean there aren't additional
timing bugs in other components after that... :/

  i am not sure if it started with OTA4 or OTA5 but since one of the
  recent OTA upgrades my arale takes between half a second and one
  second before an app takes input again when one switches it from
  background back into focus. i'm talking about apps that were only
  sigstopped, not OOM killed here (i.e. no restart involved, just
  sigcont).

  this used to be instant before and gives a weird feeling of
  sluggishness.

  Some of the early testers are hitting a use case that we didn't
  account for, that of multiple alarms set for the same time.

  Indicator-datetime currently tries to pull up notifications for, and
  play sounds for, both notifications. That's happening by accident and
  is clearly not the right approach.

  I can think of a couple of approaches we might take:

  If 2 or more alarms have been triggered, the notification at any time will 
display:
Title: 2 Alarms
Subtitle: [Label 1] 10:00, [Label 2] 10:01

  The sound of the first alarm will be played. If they have the same
  time, the one that has been created first.

download files internally in addition to sending them to other
applications, currently download manager has a metadata property titled
showInIndicator, however this doesn't appear to have any effect when
the transfer is happening inside an application without content-hub
involvement.

This results in an inconsistent experience for the user, as some
downloads from the browser show up in the indicator (those opened
immediately with other apps) and some don't (those downloaded for later
use).
