[Touch-packages] [Bug 1509562] Re: no icons for menu, folders, directories, files

2015-11-28 Thread Trogel
@milasudril, good point! "KDE System Settings" is in the package
systemsettings. Since plasma-desktop depends on systemsettings, I had
already installed it and did not mention it. You can find it in the
"Xfce Settings" or start it directly as /usr/bin/systemsettings5.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1051665] Re: [USB-Audio - SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro, playback] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound

2015-11-28 Thread ThomasMartitz
FWIW, I'm on archlinux but experience the same issue (and I did so back
when I used ubuntu).

I thought I'd share that I could fix the crackling noise by disabling
realtime scheduling. Here's my daemon.conf which produces fine sound:

$ cat ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf
default-sample-rate = 48000
alternate-sample-rate = 44100
default-sample-format = s16le
realtime-scheduling = no

[USB-Audio - SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro, playback] Underruns, dropouts
  or crackling sound

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The sound is constantly crackling when I'm listening to the music. If
I listen to last.fm or youtube for instance in my Chromium browser the
sound is really good. If I try to use Rhythmbox or Banshee first
couple of songs may be heard fine but then crackling comes. Especially
crackling starts if I launch Skype. Even if later I turn Skype off
  still the sound remains bad.

I failed to try to redirect the sound directly to ALSA device
bypassing PulseAudio server (I didn't find audio settings neither in
Rhythmbox nor Banshee) so I cannot tell whether the problem depends on
the server or it lays somewhere below in ALSA subsystem.

Also I tried to play with default-fragments and default-fragment-size-msec
values in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf but it didn't help. Then having read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems page I added tsched=0 argument
to
load-module module-udev-detect line in /etc/pulse/default.pa. The result was
not successful.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1497611] Re: navigation through scopes very slow

2015-11-28 Thread Felix
The bug contains several issues,

1. Slow speed

2. Navigation issues
-> this one is very important I think. I have seven active scopes (indicated by
the dots). It takes me up to 6 taps, to go to one of my FAVORITE scopes. Each
tap, it starts to load a new scope, which takes time.
-> I think an easy solution, that does not conflict with design issues, would
be to just make the dots clickable. I know, they are small, but even if I pick
a neighbor, I would end up having 2 taps - instead of 6!

I an using a Meizu MX4 with software version 15.04 (r4). Even though this is
a powerfull phone moving between scopes is still laggy and slow also some auto
refresh as you move to them.
I would like to suggest that auto refresh takes place in the background so
all scopes are ready when you flick through them.
Also I wonder if a scope selection system would be a good idea so you could
just direct to the scope you want and not have to scroll through many scopes
before reaching the one you wish to use.

Note, The Today scope is improving slowly and the time for each item
to show is reducing, but basically its still far too slow to be the
main scope. If you refresh say the BBC news scope it completes in a 2
seconds, the today scope still takes 10s (even after fixing the delay
to show calls and texts). I understand people are working very hard to
  improve this key area.

  Thanks for your support

  Regards

  Dave H

Bug description:

I am getting absolutely no sound at all from my Audigy 2 setup. I have
  performed the following actions:

  - Unmuted all channels in alsamixer
  - Disabled onboard audio
  - Tried various packages
  - Completely wiped and reinstalled Ubuntu
  - Updated all software packages
  - Verified via aplay -l that my soundcard is recognized (it is)
  - Tried all of the port jacks on the back of the soundcard
  - Downloaded liblo10k (emu10k patch)

Still, nothing. When I go to Sound Settings, I have a choice between
the S/PDIF and two analog outputs on my Audigy. Selecting any one of
the three and then testing produces no sound at all. Speakers verified
to work fine with a Windows 7 OS on the same machine.

  Fix Released

Bug description:
Following on from bug #854264 a new upstream version of the Ubuntu
Font Family is likely to become available between 2011-02-16 (Feature
Freeze) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS final.

Ideally it would be good to have a bug-fix version in the LTS version
  by default.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
When scrolling on indicator-sound using the horizontal scrolling the result
is the opposite to what we expect in unity (left scrolling increases the volume
and right scrolling decreases it), while in general is not handled at all for
indicator-ng indicators as both left and right scrolling always ends up in a
"+1" delta scroll.

  [Test case]
  1. Hover Indicator-sound in unity
  2. Scroll left: the volume should be reduced
  3. Scroll right: the volume should be increased

  [Regression potential]
The horizontal scroll direction might be inverted with some touchpads

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.10

I am getting absolutely no sound at all from my Audigy 2 setup. I have
  performed the following actions:

  - Unmuted all channels in alsamixer
  - Disabled onboard audio
  - Tried various packages
  - Completely wiped and reinstalled Ubuntu
  - Updated all software packages
  - Verified via aplay -l that my soundcard is recognized (it is)
  - Tried all of the port jacks on the back of the soundcard
  - Downloaded liblo10k (emu10k patch)

Still, nothing. When I go to Sound Settings, I have a choice between
the S/PDIF and two analog outputs on my Audigy. Selecting any one of
the three and then testing produces no sound at all. Speakers verified
to work fine with a Windows 7 OS on the same machine.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1520778] [NEW] No way to get rid of header divider without Page component

My intention was to have a "clear canvas" to put elements on it. I

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1314871] Re: Graphics freeze, with applications continuing working properly

2015-11-28 Thread blding
I have the same problem after a fresh installation of Ubuntu 14.04.3
LTS. My laptop is Thinkpad W530, the graphics card is Nvidia K1000. I
use two monitors and the the screen freezes from time to time when I
running Chrome. I can move the mouse, but everything else freezes.

Ctrl+Alt+F1 does not work for me. But I can restart the machine with the
magic key (Alt+PrtSc+REISUB)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1097479] Re: [Audigy2 - SB Audigy 2 [SB0240], playback] No sound at all, even with patches and modules

2015-11-28 Thread Raymond

The sound card limit to 32 bits address space, you need to specify
wavetable size if sound fonts larger than 32 MB

  patches and modules

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.10

I am getting absolutely no sound at all from my Audigy 2 setup. I have
  performed the following actions:

  - Unmuted all channels in alsamixer
  - Disabled onboard audio
  - Tried various packages
  - Completely wiped and reinstalled Ubuntu
  - Updated all software packages
  - Verified via aplay -l that my soundcard is recognized (it is)
  - Tried all of the port jacks on the back of the soundcard
  - Downloaded liblo10k (emu10k patch)

Still, nothing. When I go to Sound Settings, I have a choice between
the S/PDIF and two analog outputs on my Audigy. Selecting any one of
the three and then testing produces no sound at all. Speakers verified
to work fine with a Windows 7 OS on the same machine.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1510709] Re: In Wily libgtk-3-common pulls in adwaita-icon-theme which in return pulls in ubuntu-mono

2015-11-28 Thread Mélodie
Hi,

It is libgtk-3-common, which starting from Jessie in Debian, brings in
adwaita-icon-theme as a mandatory dependency.

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-icon-
theme/+question/274092

**
In Debian Wheezy:
https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/libgtk-3-common

there are no icon themes in the depends.

In Debian Jessie:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/libgtk-3-common

dep: adwaita-icon-theme (>= 3.14) appears.

then it's also there in Stretch and in sid.

adwaita-icon-theme in return brings in hicolor-icon-theme:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/adwaita-icon-theme

>From there, in Ubuntu Wily where I noticed several big icon themes coming soon
>while building a custom setup in my computer using a mini.iso:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/libgtk-3-common
→ adwaita-icon-theme

and:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/adwaita-icon-theme

We get the followin depends:
hicolor-icon-theme
default fallback theme for FreeDesktop.org icon themes
(…)
ubuntu-mono
Ubuntu Mono Icon theme
ou adwaita-icon-theme-full
default icon theme of GNOME

A "below CD size ISO" isn't just about burning CD, about hard drive
space, it's about a vast majority of potential users who have 2 GB max
bandwidth, or even closer to the dialup connection; it is about saving
electricity, about saving money and about being able to install Ubuntu
on older machines where only a CD can be read!

It is about more than one issue. It is about "making it possible to get
it", "making it easy to burn for old computers", "making it easier to
download", making it economical, and more ecological.

Thanks for considering this a higher level of importance as a bug
report.

  Python ctypes.util , Shell Injection in find_library()

Status in python2.7 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  https://github.com/Legrandin/ctypes/issues/1

The find_library() function can execute code when special chars like ;|`<>$
are in the name.
The "os.popen()" calls in the util.py script should be replaced with
"subprocess.Popen()".

  Demo Exploits for Linux :

  >>> from ctypes.util import find_library
  >>> find_library(";xeyes")# runs  xeyes
  >>> find_library("|xterm")# runs terminal
  >>> find_library("")# runs gimp
  >>> find_library("$(nautilus)")  # runs filemanager
  >>> find_library(">test")   # creates, and if exists,
erases a file "test"

Bug description:
ubuntu 15.10 for phones beta r.223 (bq aquaris ubuntu edition)

Since r.222 upgrade i noticed that sometimes I cant unlock the phone.
When i push unlock button (one time) looks like nothing happens, screen
doesn't woke up.
If i press a second time screen woke up for half second showing unlock
screen.

When it happens, i know that the OS is running because when i push the
unlock button(first time), i can make a screen shot pushing up volume
and down volume at same time it also reproduce the sound.

Looks that the only problem is to wakeup the screen.

It began to happen without install any program, just upgrades.
When it happened to me I think that I haven't opened any app.

Bug description:
  Hi,

There is problem searching Hebrew text in pdf files in evince. The
text I write in the find box is being found in reverse (perhaps in
visual order), and not in the right order of characters. The searching
works in Adobe Acrobat, so I'm guessing its not a problem in the pdf
  file itself.

  I'll attach an example pdf.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open the attached pdf.
  2. Search for the word "ידיעון" (The letter "י" is the first in logical
order). The text is not found in the file.
  2. Search for the reversed word "ןועידי". (The letter "ן" is first in logical
order). The text is found in reverse in the file.

  Regards,
  Haggai Eran

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1444226] Re: [Kubuntu 15.04 beta] can't connect to wifi with Ralink RT2561/RT61 and NetworkManager

2015-11-28 Thread Ariel Sebastián Becker
I tried the solution proposed in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1442908/comments/4
and it worked. You can use wicd-kde instead wicd-gtk; but, besides that,
you must follow the instructions. Wicd doesn't recognizes automatically
the encryption, so you must try the most common: WEP, WPA (passphrase).

  uninstalled (apparently because of "plasma-nm").

WORKAROUND: I installed Wicd from Kubuntu 14.04 using "chroot":
1- Start the system and try not use Network Manager
  2- kill network manager
  $ sudo pkill -9 NetworkManager
3- Start wicd from "menu" > "internet"

building with -O2 instead of -O3 works around the issue.

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'm usually using a setup with three partitions on a disk

Partition 1: plain ext4 boot partition mounted on /boot
  Partition 2: luks-encrypted swap
  Partition 3: luks-encrypted btrfs for / /home ...

  both mentioned in /etc/crypttab like

  sda2_crypt UUID=a7976d5c-6191-436d-9cf9-2cedf17d0893 none luks,swap,discard
  sda3_crypt UUID=339b9a90-8292-422d-a3cf-eeb0317e9f84 none luks,discard

With several machines I have installed 15.10 beta on and in several cases I
experienced the problem that the swap is not activated at boot time and that
/dev/disks/by-uuid does not contain a link to the swap partition, and the
previously created luks-encrypted swap is destroyed after boot: It is not a
luks partition anymore and filled with random (presumably encrypted) bytes
without structure.

I first thought that this is a problem of the setup process, and
repaired the swap manually. But then I found the partition destroyed
again. This happend several times on several machines.

I am not sure yet what exactly would destroy the partition.

I confirmed that downgrading the libnss2 package from 2:3.21-1ubuntu2 to

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1518003] [NEW] Severe OpenGL rendering issues in games

2015-11-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

As I also asked in http://askubuntu.com/questions/698855/severe-
rendering-issues-in-games-intel-hd-4000-ubuntu-15-10

After updating Ubuntu to 15.10, 3D Steam games don't render things
correctly. The issue is so severe that it is unplayable, as polygons are
smeared all over the screen (see screenshots in the askubuntu link
above).

GLGears works fine, so I looked for advanced OpenGL samples I can test
it on but couldn't find anything, not ready to use nor something I need
to compile.

My processor is Intel® Core™ i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz × 4 and I use the processors
graphics, i.e. Intel HD 4000 series (Intel® Haswell Desktop).
The system is 64 bit, with 8 gigs of RAM.

I tried installing the ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers repository and drivers, but
it didn't help.
I tried installing XFCE desktop and running the game from there, so there is no
Compiz interference, but it didn't help.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1493178] Re: PageHeadStyle should coordinate Page.head.contents and the ActionBar to not overlap, if possible

2015-11-28 Thread Kunal Parmar
I am too facing same issue in calendar app,

I would like to move one of icon to tray, it would be nice to have control over

Title:
PageHeadStyle should coordinate Page.head.contents and the ActionBar
  to not overlap, if possible

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In my app "Lone Wolf", I use Page.head.contents to add an interactive widget
to the page header. It looks like this:

https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/site_media/appmedia/2015/09/screenshot20150803_125313389.png

In SDK 1.3, there are up to three action icons shown, instead of the
one in SDK 1.2. This means the header is too crowded and
Page.head.contents may overlap the action icons, depending on how long
the page title is (and how wide the screen is of course).

Looking at PageHeadStyle.qml, there is no relationship between
  Page.head.contents.width and ActionBarStyle.width. But I think there
  should be.

I don't seem to have any control over ActionBarStyle.numberOfSlots
myself. Or any control over how wide the ActionBar is.

In short, I can't figure out how to replicate my header behavior with
SDK 1.3. Maybe the answer is I shouldn't stick widgets in the header?
But otherwise, I'd consider this a bug.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1506139] Re: 15.10beta crashes encrypted swap partition

2015-11-28 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Further observations:

I meanwhile figured out three modes:

1) putting the swap flag into /etc/crypttab -> crashes the partition
every now and then, but not always.

2) removing the flag from /etc/crypttab, but keeping it in /etc/fstab and
keeping it in
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume: Everything works well , but a) initramfs
asks for the password twice (once per partition), which is sort of annoying,
maybe the password sharing scripts coming with cryptsetup might work (didn't
try yet with 15.10).

3) as 2, but removing /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume: Interesting effect.
The bootprocess asks for password only once for the root partition(!), but
systemd nevertheless mounts the swap partition as a second luks device without
needing the password. Source code says something about a password cache, so
the password from the root device seems to be cache for some time and
accessible. Nice, but resume from hibernation does not work.

Unfortunately the ubuntu installer produces mode 1, which does not
really work.

This mess should really be fixed for 16.04 LTS. In my eyes it's a major
problem of systemd, but the initramfs code could also be extended to use
the password cache (which is there and caches anyway) to avoid asking
twice.

Title:
  15.10beta crashes encrypted swap partition

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'm usually using a setup with three partitions on a disk

Partition 1: plain ext4 boot partition mounted on /boot
  Partition 2: luks-encrypted swap
  Partition 3: luks-encrypted btrfs for / /home ...

  both mentioned in /etc/crypttab like

  sda2_crypt UUID=a7976d5c-6191-436d-9cf9-2cedf17d0893 none luks,swap,discard
  sda3_crypt UUID=339b9a90-8292-422d-a3cf-eeb0317e9f84 none luks,discard

With several machines I have installed 15.10 beta on and in several cases I
experienced the problem that the swap is not activated at boot time and that
/dev/disks/by-uuid does not contain a link to the swap partition, and the
previously created luks-encrypted swap is destroyed after boot: It is not a
luks partition anymore and filled with random (presumably encrypted) bytes
without structure.

I first thought that this is a problem of the setup process, and
repaired the swap manually. But then I found the partition destroyed
again. This happend several times on several machines.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1520568] Re: All queries fails : ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

2015-11-28 Thread Bryan Quigley
AFAICT this just fails with Google (tried google.com and blogger.com)
domains. Can you confirm if you type in ssllabs.com or duckduckgo.com
if they work?

I can reproduce on a LiveCD, installing Chromium and then loading it.

However I can now reproduce it using the Mir demo servers. So it seems

Thinkpad T550: Broadwell with Intel HD5500 powers off randomly

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
In the first two weeks of owning a Broadwell T550, I have suffered
about two dozen abrupt power-offs. This has happened:

  a) While resuming from suspend.
  b) While in normal operation and just moving the mouse.
  c) While switching from X to console by pressing ctrl-alt-F1.

There was no kernel panic, no log files, just an abrupt power-off.

In conjunction with several other HD5500 issues, I am starting to
suspect the intel video driver, and have switched to the modesetting
driver. Setting the Intel driver to use AccelMethod: none made the
system more reliable but did not eliminate crashes.

Workaround: Put the following in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

  Identifier "intel"
  Driver "modesetting"

I can confirm on ubuntu touch that FaceUp and FaceDown are not being
handled or signaled when they should be (qtubuntu-sensors orientation
does not even handle it)

As well, there is no implementation for AmbientLight in qtubuntu-

Title:
Severe OpenGL rendering issues in games

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
As I also asked in http://askubuntu.com/questions/698855/severe-
  rendering-issues-in-games-intel-hd-4000-ubuntu-15-10

After updating Ubuntu to 15.10, 3D Steam games don't render things
correctly. The issue is so severe that it is unplayable, as polygons
are smeared all over the screen (see screenshots in the askubuntu link
  above).

GLGears works fine, so I looked for advanced OpenGL samples I can test
it on but couldn't find anything, not ready to use nor something I
  need to compile.

  My processor is Intel® Core™ i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz × 4 and I use the
processors graphics, i.e. Intel HD 4000 series (Intel® Haswell Desktop).
The system is 64 bit, with 8 gigs of RAM.

I tried installing the ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers repository and drivers, but
it didn't help.
I tried installing XFCE desktop and running the game from there, so there is
no Compiz interference, but it didn't help.

[Dialer] Implement "Hide Phone Number" setting in dialer app

Status in Canonical System Image:
  Confirmed
Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Fix Committed
Status in dialer-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Please implement the phone number hiding option in the dialer app's
settings. I know I can hide my phone number when making a call if I
enter a code number (For example: UK: 141) before the phone number.
Other OS-es, like Android or iOs have these feature already.

  -- UX comment -

Indeed, this should be part of the dialer settings, the recommendation
  is a ListItem with a switch/toggle.

  Wireframes are work in progress.

When I start firefox from the panel it always start in offline mode. I am
connected via wireless to a network that is always on. When I want to browse I
need to unclick "work offline"

  Workaround 1: (since ffox 3.0.1) ->
set toolkit.networkmanager.disable to false in about:config

Workaround 2: (make NM to be always online) ->
add a non existing interface to /etc/network/interfaces, like:

  iface eth1000 inet dhcp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1520887] [NEW] Workaround Ubuntu 15.10. Network manager applet cannot stabely activate mobile broadband. ZTE MF820D.

2015-11-28 Thread Mattias Carlsson
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I use Ubuntu 15.10.
If I Start Ubuntu from power-off, then I can enter the PIN-code for the
SIM-card, and I also get prompted for my password (to make changes to the
mobile broadband device). The 4G-USB-modem gets green light for establishing an
4G (or 3G) connection, but it is impossible to connect to the 4G-internet from
the drop down menu of network manager at this stage; I get an error message. (I
have set up this 4G-internet-connention with help from the network-manager
wizard, using defaults, except turning off roaming and setting allow all users
to connect.)
However, if I choose to reboot without power-off, the green light on the
USB-modem stays on during the reboot (keeps 4G-connected I presume), then it is
possible to connect to internet from the drop down menu, most of the time. One
time I also had to deactivate-activate mobile broadband from the drop down menu
for internet connection to be established.

It is also not possible to edit the connections of the mobile broadband
in the network manager applet (gets an error message). Editing the wifi-
connection works just fine.

Regards
